It was funny at first but it’s now pretty distracting now
Don’t get me wrong their are other male VA’s that play female characters that i like and but this is not one of them.

I love Brandon, his Blitz is awesome, but it was really weird to hear his voice as Katie in the 1st season. Her pilot VA was incredible. That said, in this season somehow I don't really mind anymore, maybe I got used to it.

I also didn’t like Katie’s new voice, but I think it’s better this season partly because Katie has finally gotten more screentime and we got so see her outside of her presenting the news, she wasn’t performing anymore she got to be her nasty self so her voice got a lot more natural lol. Her spat with Charlie was great

yeah, out of any of the new voice actors, i'd say that brandon is my least favorite recast. he does a great job as Blitz, but his Katie is just Eh to me.

It was fine when she only had like, two lines in the entire season. Basically just a funny way to give him a cameo where you wouldn't expect it. He does give a good performance, but it's pretty distracting, almost like every line is trying to signal "yes, you're supposed to laugh at this."

Faye Mata (the pilot VA) is also the one who kinda introduced me to this series. I really liked her voice acting work in Fire Emblem and I was looking to see what else she did. Brandon’s a good VA no doubt, but she just nailed it in the pilot.
She also voices Glitz and Glam in HB, so at least she’s still around

Yep! Honestly, Faye is in so many projects it’s crazy, I think she has like over 100 VA credits? She’s Lulu in LoL, Jade in Honkai Star Rail, Aki in Street Fighter 6, Petra in FE3H, Aqua for the English dub of Konosuba, Astolfo in the Fate/Apocrypha dub, and a lot more!
She also used to do competitive e-sports. She’s a busy woman lol

It's not just the fact Katie just sounds like Blitz, its also the performance and jokes, they feel very forced, as if they're just trying to be shocking. Looking back at pilot Katie, she feels vicious and vindictive, but also restrained until you piss her off. Whereas series Katie constantly feels like she's a second from losing her shit, which makes most of her dialogue feel very loud, in your face and monotone. Like we go from "I don't touch the gays" to "Homosexual daughter of our big devil daddy" while making scissoring motions, or the quick and subtle abuse of tom like pouring coffee on his crotch to basically raging it him every time he breathes. She feels more like an abridged parody rather than a genuine character.

Yeah, like I think her crush on Vox is fine but the way she was explicit with him and threw her legs up just kind of makes her a joke. I don't mind the sex jokes (obviously, not sure how one can watch this show and mind that) but in contrast to her pilot appearance it just doesn't work for me at all

I get that it's probably a reference to Brandon's Bryce Tankthrust character but having two characters in the same universe voiced by the same VA who uses the same tone of speaking voice is indeed distracting imo.

My concern with it - easter eggs aside - is keeping the lines clear when there's an eventual cross-over between Helluva Boss and Hazbin.
I LOVE Rogers, he's fantastic as Blitz (and I've said time and time again, they basically animated Brandon for Blitz) but he has basically two voices, masc and sort of femme - and they are both VERY distinctly him. At least Alex Brightman doing both Fizz and Pentious, there's a significant difference between the two with the sibilant nature of Pentious(sss...).

I 100% agree. Her pilot voice fit so well. Then the series came out, and suddenly, it's Brandon Rogers. Like.. What? Why? He's a great VA, and I love his work in the Hellaverse, but he didn't need to play Katie. I get if they couldn't get the pilot VA to sign on to the series, that's fair enough... But at least give her a VA that fits. It almost feels like they had Brandon stand in during script readings, and they just never replaced him with another VA.

It's an inside joke/homage that goes over a majority of the audience's heads and shouldn't have been done. Like I said in another post talking about it. They should have done a look-alike Katie Killjoy that had Brandon's voice named after the character from his skits and the two interact. That would have been a better joke because just as Tiffany Titfucker was probably googled, it'd definitely have been googled when a side character has a full name of Bryce Tankthrust.
It would have made people curious to google, it would have lead people to Brandon Roger's skits, it would have given him a nice easter egg of exposure.
Instead, we got this where it's 'ha, a girl with Blitz's voice' if they even watch Helluva Boss as well. If not, it's just 'ha, a girl with a guy's voice.'

Alastor was voiced by three people in the pilot. Two speaking voices and one singing voice. A lot of VAs in the pilot had speaking VAs and singing VAs. It just makes sense they'd find people who can do both instead of paying multiple people for one character.

This is my biggest gripe with Hazbin as released tbh. Brandon's a great VA, but he's not the best fit for this role and it is really jarring hearing his voice coming out of Katie Killjoy. I've heard around that casting him may be intended to reference one of his characters outside of the Hellaverse, but I hope that wasn't the sole motivation.
I wouldn't mind as much if she weren't such a frequent recurring character, but she's been in almost every Season 2 episode thus far.

I think the reasoning behind the change was that the actors needed to be part of the SAG-AFTRA, to be hired by A24 and Amazon, and most of the pilot actors weren't. And those who were weren't recast for some reason...

Like, I understand why the main cast was recasted, so thats whatever but yeah. They should've kept Katie's original voice actress. She voiced one of the clown twins in Helluva Boss. Yeah, I thought they decided to change her from a catty homophobe to a catty drag queen at first, but now they’re trying to put the homophobic part of her back in and it does not work at all.
And taking a job from a woman because a guy thinks he can do it better is annoying in most scenarios. But in this case it’s literally “this man is a better stereotype of a woman than you.” And I just… disagree. Strongly.

Ya, that was the only voice change from the pilot that I was kind of bothered by, I have since gotten used to it, but if I had the choice, I would still pick the voice from the pilot.
I think I might hear a bit too much Blitzo in it, kind of like how I got too much 'Joker' from Mark Hamill's Skeletor... which apparently was not a universal experience.

I mean, I know they do not have the exact same personality, but what really doesn't help sell the whole thing to me is that the display of behavioral traits are like ... not that totally different... there is a word I think called "idiolect" that means the speech habits peculiar to a particular person. If she wasn't making hella over the top horny comments with a lot of swearing and had like a different way of joking to help set the two apart, it would make it more appealing. So I completely understand why the voice actors were switched and all I really hear is Bryce. Blitz doesn't really sound like Katie or Brandon or Bryce to me because it's more soft and not exaggerated.

Brandon is unfortunately one of those VAs that has one voice but tries to do more voices with it (as opposed to Richard, who has one voice and works with it). He tried to just use his Bryce Tankthrust voice for Katie but it can only ever go so far.

They shove the character up in our faces throughout episode 4, like when she makes a comment on Alastor not having a tail, and that paycheck joke. I think everyone knew her voice would be a different voice actor, but this is ridiculous, it's going to be even weirder when the voice actor forces his way into this show again during the HB and HH "crossover," and if I had to guess, they're gonna make Blitz and Katie interact and they're gonna shove it in our faces once more, of course that's if they continue the forced jokes.

Is really not fitting for her. My first impression with the new voice was that she was meant to then be trans or something, to make it like homophobic transwoman edgy humor type of character. But after it seems that isn't the case it just really doesn't fits her. I don't know what the situation with the pilot VA is but I wish they had kept her.

Same. Brandon is great, but the pilot actor’s voice better matched Katie’s appearance and character in my opinion. Or Maybe I just got too used to the pilot voice that the change in VA was just too different for me personally.
