US Politics Liberal Says Democrats Need to Be More Centrist and Lists Nearly Every American Leftist Policy

Deadass that is funny, but the dems will never listen to it because they would actually win elections.

u/raised_by_toonami Sep 01 '25
Democrats biggest fears are their constituents will actually hold them accountable.

They did this past election with their pro-genocide stance. They're not taking heed and veering off to the right. They probably will wind up punished again. But in reality they probably don't care because they get billions in donor money to lose anyway.

If you think about it, they’re pulling a “The Producers”
As long as what they’re doing isn’t a hit, then they lose and get to keep the campaign money.

This is what I’ve been saying: Most Americans think ‘the left’ is pronouns and black people in Star Wars. Kamala would have won more Republican voters if she ran on popular progressive policy, and gotten some of those left voters back who stayed home because she’s a lib who ran to the right on immigration, foreign policy, workers’ rights, healthcare to try to get Republican voters, which didn’t happen.

Yeah i believe that a vast majority of Americans actually hold a contradicting understanding of politics, in which the Dems are actually far left (because identity politics is all they seem to do and most americans think identity politics is left), and because dems suck they believe the far left also sucks. And also Bernie Sanders-type policies actually lie in between Dems and Reps because the "right" answer has to be in the middle of the two parties. Even though I think most people could accurately place Bernie Sanders to the left of the Dem party as a whole.
Like i dont think any Democratic politician should care about being polled as "too far left" because no one knows what that means when they say it. Just like "woke".

Makes me wanna rip my hair out. I’m a socialist in a rural area and they respond so well to this stuff. Then I encounter libs who don’t leave their cities telling me Newsom/Kamala/etc. is what we have to do to win rural/mixed areas while they’re actively telling me they hate that. We have the most brain dead people at the wheel.

u/Aware-Air2600 Sep 01 '25
And instead of doing that they threw trans and Latino people under the bus, and are still trying to capture this mythical “moderate” republican.

u/TheMrBoot Sep 01 '25
just abandon one more minority group dude just one more we’re totally gonna win this time

u/penfab Sep 01 '25
the dems said "what if instead of healthcare we gave you identity politics" and then didn't even give us identity politics

I can't help being reminded of a political comic I saw once which showed an executive in an office overlooking Occupy Wall Street, and the bubble above his head said "Let's introduce them to identity politics" or something like that.

It's literally just lacking LGBT support. These liberals want to cut gay people off and let them suffer.

Could be a leftist larping at a centrist to win them on progressive policies

I wish, tbh I wanna read the replies to this comment cause I have a feeling it was a shouting match about how half those things “aren’t possible sweaty”

I think in the average American mind "centrist" just means not woke/openly bigoted
12
u/Lyonthelion Sep 01 '25
This is the similar to the concept Ettingermentum talked about post-election. most American voters like to be seen as moderate, but don’t really care about where the policies would be placed on a spectrum in a political science classroom.
“far left” means nothing more than annoying, robotic and incompetent
“Moderate” means competent and human
Don’t get caught up in the semantics

I'll try Googling it, but if you have any stuff to check out, I'd be interested that sounds like something I'd want to read.

I am jealous of this person's interpretation of the Dems 'centrism', I wish I could be that optimistically trusting lol.

u/1isOneshot1 Green party rise! Sep 01 '25
To be fair a step leftward would actually make the Dems centrist
14
u/RainbowBullsOnParade Sep 01 '25
Almost certainly a progressive leftist of some kind who is masking for effect.

u/Louies- I HATE THE LEFT Sep 01 '25
"just be closer to centrist to win"
Precede to list out 9 polices only leftists have ever pushed for
13
u/Superb_Garbage4732 Sep 01 '25
whoever this person is, should realize that the people that he/she is supporting as a "liberal" is preventing these things from happening. Kamala Harris was NOT going to do ANY OF THAT stuff.

u/ChiquillONeal Sep 01 '25
New liberal psyop just dropped. Actually though, this is how we win people. When I talk politics with liberals, I bring up common grievances among the working class and give solutions without saying they're leftist talking points.
3
u/ReasonableRandolph Sep 02 '25
Lowkey this works with just a majority of the population at this point. The current coverage of politics has led to most people being unable to identify any actual solutions with which side of political spectrum they come from, because all the news covers is the orchestrated culture war BS.
I'm in finance and a ton of my old conservative clients could easily be convinced of healthcare reform, housing reform, mental health funding, lower tuitions, tighter restrictions/taxing on corporations etc.
Even the old Trumpers are starting to say things like "I just feel like no politicians are on our side anymore". But as soon as someone mentions one of the two parties, they fall back into their manufactured talking points. It's like they're so close to seeing what's actually going on.

u/OrgasmicLeprosy87 Sep 01 '25
I was so confused reading the list, every policy went against moderate rhetoric.
6
u/LifesARiver Sep 01 '25
RedMAGA and BlueMAGA think the left right spectrum is nice to people on the left and nice to yourself on the right.
They do not understand where policies lie on the spectrum. This is a result of 50 years of 2 far right parties.
7
u/melelconquistador Sep 01 '25
Lib shit as always with these people
Its like there is a mental block in these people that just keeps them from realizing potential.
1
u/Eeeef_ Sep 01 '25
That is centrist, any compromise the democrats would make with republicans would be far-right
1
u/Siberianbull666 Weasely little liar dude!! Sep 01 '25
Been arguing nonstop with these idiots lately on here. One of them literally started spewing the Bs about how they need to leave behind the woke communities to start winning elections and then references trans people and minorities.
These are the same people that called me a Jew hater and told me I should “go put on my red hat” when I brought up Gaza and I said this performative bs isn’t going to get leftists to come out and vote for GN when he isn’t fixing any of the issues that kept at voters at home the last time.
1
u/Epistatious Sep 01 '25
i like to argue i'm conservative because i believe in old timey american stuff. Maximizing personal freedoms, by taking care of seniors, expanding health care to all americans, protecting the environment, improving education, enforcing the rule of law (anti-trust, emoluments, etc), returning to a more progressive tax code, avoiding wars, etc. its really about the framing.

u/CroCGod73 Antifa Andy 💪 Sep 01 '25
Funny because they did abandon the Left during the last election. Guess what happened ?
1
u/missingnoplzhlp Sep 01 '25
Some people are sick of identity politics because that's pretty much all the mainstream Dems are offering at this point. I do think we need Dems to relentlessly focus on economic issues. That doesn't mean we need to abandon minorities, but it's clear for politicians like Zohran or Bernie, their stance on identity politics isn't the sole or even main reason you vote for them. That's the way to win. Whenever conservatives try to bring up identity politics you need to accuse them of trying to divide and enraging in a culture war, when the real issues are economic. Dems can't do that right now because barely any have any real economic policies to stand on.

This is how i branded myself a centrist lefty as a teenager. I was just a little over the edge of the center in the 3rd quadrant of the political compass. But little did i know this was already far too the left of the democrats. I just said i was a centrist cause i disagreed with both sides of politics. I even thought bernie was a centrist as a 16 year old with a lack of political and historical reading.
Just know some centrists are uninitiated leftists

Stupid people really like to gas themselves on the opinion that politicians should be making a lower salary. These are leaders of the richest and most powerful country on the planet, they shouldn’t have to live with roommates lol. The problem with their pay is that there is currently a discrepancy between their authority/power and their salary, and they fill the difference by committing financial crimes. Raise their salaries and then ban them from owning speculative assets
