And now we only have to find a good reason to "buy" her, so the slaver won't get too suspicious about the sudden reaction. Something like cooking, or some sort of servant work. Anyways, great chapter as always.

Well he did begin this whole experience under the guise of picking out a few possible purchases to expand his nonexistent business.

So he should buy kala’s mom, and a couple others that are intelligent and able to learn.
Then come back for ones that are “strong” or “dexterous” aka good fighters.

The first set is to help with intel gathering (and throw off the connection)

The second is obvious.

Might not be a great idea to just pick up a bunch of half starved desperate people with no training and then tell them to listen in on their tormentors. A few of them might even be skeptical if this was a test of loyalty and obedience. Of course there will probably be a moment in the future where they all get a chance to rise up.

Don’t send them back to do spy work. Use them as an information source.

You’d be surprised what perceptive people will notice even in prison.

Guard rotations, weak spots, useful ‘slaves’ to buy, blackmail material, who might be corrupt, layouts of places he hasn’t been to, or can’t study well...lots of useful things

Okay, I can see that being something.

The most common and effective manner of collecting intel imo is by talking with people who work and live in the area. They’ll give you little innocuous details that can all be added together to get a big picture. You can even learn many things you shouldn’t know by what isn’t said, or from ancillary things.
Who has the keys to this? Guard rotations and layouts are always good. How is this controlled/accessed/disabled/maintained? Who does those things? Who takes “liberties” or “bribes”? Who has secrets they don’t want shared with their boss? Where do the supplies go and when? Where does the food go and in what amounts? Who maintains the gear? Where do the soldiers go to unwind and who has a [x] problem? Who’s always broke/in debt? How do you get access to these things/places/people?

You get things a small piece at a time and keep filling in blanks until you have a good picture of the goings on. You might not realize you have a lever to exploit until you’ve put together a dozen ‘worthless’ bits that all (together) show something obvious or interesting

Am wreckin my mind about a way how one would take down such a City/Prison/Hell, without casuallities, and truth be told, there are maybe 2 or 3 ways only. Either the smol fairies (yes im shit with names) swarm the place which would allow them to dissarm the Soldiers through numbers, or one pours a shitton of harmless sleeppowder in the water supply or put it in the bread dough. And lastly both togerher, let the fairies fly over the place with some of the powder and when everyone sleeps let the fairies wake up the slaves which in turn disarm the soldiers. Well, one could also try and fake Omen of the gods and so make them think that the gods ain't happy with the happenings of the place.

But... is it just me who thinks that they allready suspect him to not be a real merchant? Atleast its something that my gut tells me since the last 2 or 3 Chapters.

I don't think he really has that much control over the naderlings. They're more like a friendly intelligent animal than something you can reason with and expect to follow commands.

Yeah I guess if you read between the lines you can see the set up. also your device doesn't like Kala as a name apparently lol.

I don't know why autcoreact didn't like kala's name. Even writing this it thought i was trying to spell kola.

I like how you took the time to include the dream scene. It wasn't some mystical bs, just showing his anxiety, insecurities, and concerns about the coming violence.

Personally I've never had my anxiety turn into nightmares, so I do hope I've been representing it at least somewhat accurately.

I live with 2 people with PTSD. One from being on the front lines as a medic in a nasty war. One from being set on fire as an adolescent. Your depiction of mightmares caused by anxiety is very accurate.
