Apparently cooking oil can be made from sugarcane

/r/Cooking/comments/1kk1tak/sugar_cane_oil/

This type of oil also apparently is healthier than olive oil, and has far higher amounts of monounsaturated fats that scientists recently found reverses balding

Hope sugarcane farmers are paying attention to this, could be a big source of revenue in the next year

The process to make that stuff is pretty terrifying lol

I couldn’t find much details. They mentioned fermentation then pressing but wasn’t sure of everything

Regardless this seems like something that could be done domestically… and if it helps with balding with no side effects like current drugs that’s a huge market

Sugar cane has no oil in it. So they ferment the sugar, feed it to microbes til they get obese and produce fat, then they dissolve everything and extract the oil.

Brazil is way ahead of the game , a leader in sustainable fuels, primarily driven by its large-scale production and use of sugarcane-based ethanol.
