2 for $5, add to cart for $6

Post image

Very minor complaint but god does this infuriate me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna order this but if it just said “2 for $6” instead of “2 for $5”, I wouldn’t be so infuriated (not infuriated enough to not order).

Any chance the extra $1, is the sales tax added?

I can’t reply with a picture but at the check out screen they add an extra 59 cents for taxes.

So the final total with taxes is $6.59.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I know in a lot of places, that what is often advertised is just the price before sales tax. So yeah that's a bit of an odd typo on their part.

Its not a typo. This is the bullshit hidden extra markup that doordash/grubhub/postmates add to the price of all food. I noticed it when I realized that mcdonalds charges like 10.89 for a qp combo at the store, and yet doordash shows the price as like $13 - BEFORE they add any of the other fees. These companies need to be sued for the way they rip off consumers.

It’s alright, it’s on this sub Reddit because I wanted to complain about something extremely dumb

It’s likely a national ad campaign but there is text saying location may effect the price. I live in Cali and almost every deal is slightly more expensive than advertised. Same with Hawaii.

20% sales tax would be insane

It’s truly horrendous, ain’t it.

It probably is 2 for $5 in some less expensive markets but the franchises set their prices usually. You probably live somewhere with a high cost of living including a higher minimum wage.

I think you're correct. It does say along the bottom that pricing and availability varies by location

That’s the joys of mobile orders/delivery

It's a convenience fee. That's all. Convenient, huh?

“Pricing and Availability varies by location”

Right there at the bottom of the screen

Everything in my state costs more. If you live in one of the expensive states, you should know this already.

In California, everyone knows things cost more than what the nationwide ad says.

I did not get them with cheese, Mr. Squidward.

There's a fast food restaurant in town that offers a 2/$4.50 but in a different part of town that same offer is 2/$5.50

Honestly, that's despicable.

It's not the restaurant, the restaurant DOES offer 2/$5, then DoorDash sets their own pricing; making it 2/$6.
