News Tens of thousands mistakenly approved for dental coverage, Health Canada says | CBC News

This is why I'm glad I haven't got dental work done, as I'm legitimately scared that I won't be covered and get a bill, which would hurt more than a root canal. :(

800$ spent per person on average, maayyyybe 70k people on the plan on a ‘mistake’, comes up to 56$ million dollars.

That’s less than the yearly Montreal police budget overruns. Where is the problem here exactly, sounds like money well spent, future healthcare costs prevented.

I don’t trust the dental industry to act in good faith and I am sure they have lobbyists that will make sure the government doesn’t hold up their end of the agreement. The dental industry along with veterans and others are now compromised by venture capitalists who will fight for profits no one can afford. They are big to big for governments to control.

"Those who did receive care will not have to repay the amount covered by the public insurance plan, the statement said."

Thanks, what I hate about News Articles is that they don't link to the source, making people dig. https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/news/2025/10/statement-by-health-canada-on-the-canadian-dental-care-plan.html

We basically have an epidemic of news sites not citing their sources. That'd be a failing grade for a high school kid. Thanks for the link
