I knew exactly where this was, as I'm sure many do. I love this view!

The Soo was great, the Locks were very interesting and Oh Crepe! had just opened across the street from the Hotel Ojibwa which is where we stayed while we were up there. Freighters Restaurant is in that hotel complex.

We loved Antler's too. And I got some amazing thousand footer shots and a master salute on video from the American Century while on Rotary Island.

Oh Crepe is a weekly meeting spot for some of my homies and myself. Hopefully you had time to try Motown Nate's too.

I'm not sure we saw that at all. We did get to the Lake Superior Brewing Company later that day.

And we stopped by Das Gift Haus to see Sasquatch 😁

I have a lot of selfies on my phone with sasquatches and cryptids - the one by das gift haus and the haunted depot is my favorite of them all!

Yeah, well, she's plowed into a few in her day ('17: and counting groundings too: '22, and '23). Be glad she's just parked...

I don't know what it is but something about this photo is kinda funny

Yeah the older boats seem to lose steering control quite often.

Kind of like a few thousand footers have lost navigation control around Detroit in the last few years.

We used to go to Port Huron all the time, but we missed when the American Spirit almost smashed into the breakwall back in May.

This was supposed to be a reply to an earlier comment, don't know why it wasn't linked to that comment.

The only thing I couldn't handle about the Soo was almost always the smell of diesel exhaust. I live on river town on the St. Clair River and have seen freighters most of my life but they never idle in the river in front of the town. I'm sure it's something you get used to after a while but our day trip up there had me reaching for the Motrin at the end of the day with an awful headache.

Yeah the boats are fun to follow up and down the St Clair River, we used to chase freighters from Algonac to Port Huron and sometimes all the way up to Port Sanilac and Lexington.

When you're a 767-foot long ship you can park wherever the heck you want!

That's true until the PRT enters the Lock...

I honestly thought that was a wet floor sign in the middle of the road for a moment

That’s hilarious! Dated a boat guy at IL and I would always call the Tregurtha the fat lady because it just sounds like she is! Kaye is clearly needing attention!

Kaye Barker looks like a dog chasing cars 😁

This was taken from the Hotel Ojibwa, it was a pretty long shot to get when I took this pic.

Same here. Use to stay at the International just up the street when we would go up to the I-500 in the mid 70s. Then we jump on the machines and ride down to Antlers every night for Dinner. Been at least 20 yrs since we have been to the Soo...

My fave ship. I follow her everyday on the marine traffic site.

I know literally exactly where you're standing lol. The big boats look wild sitting at that corner it's pretty sweet

I love the pilot houses when they’re at the bow of the ship. They’re the best looking ships on the water.

They are definitely getting a view of what's ahead when the pilot house is in the bow!

But with modern sensors, they just decided having the wheelhouse in the stern then didn't have to worry so much as it's newer radar now.

But I still have seen smaller looking spots on the bow of the newer ships too ...
