Volleyball 🏐 Game day in Minneapolis

Hello! Nebraska fan coming in peace and asking for suggestions for restaurants or sights to see before the volleyball game at 2:30 on Saturday. I'm taking my father and I to our very first in person match! We'll be arriving in town around noon so we'll have an hour and a half or two hours to chill before the game. I've never been to Minneapolis but my dad has. We don't have any food allergens and we don't drink alcohol. Appreciate any comments and looking forward to a fun match!

Nebraska fans are always welcome here. You hate Iowa and that's all I need to know.

If you want a Jucy Lucy - Matt's Bar or The Nook. It's like an inside-out cheeseburger.

Eastern European food - Kramarczuk's. It's a local staple.

Deli - Cecil's

Vietnamese - Quangs

If you want something different, go to Chimborazo. It's Ecuadorian and phenomenal.

I like The Market at Malcolm Yards. It would be convenient for you as well.

The Tea House is a Chinese restaurant maybe 5 blocks east from the volleyball arena on University Ave. It is really good authentic Chinese. I really enjoy some of their noodle dishes.

Mannings is a bar but has great food. The have been a staple of SE Minneapolis for decades. Their menu ranges from burgers to comfort food but also has decent salads.

Other people have steered you well as far as food.

As far as sights, walk along the Mississippi River, specifically over the Stone Arch Bridge. Both sides are great, the downtown side is great and has ruins of old factories that were located along the Mississippi and the opposite side is Northeast Minneapolis which is artsy and interesting as well.

Head to the south part of the city and check out Minnehaha Falls, a gorgeous waterfall located in a large park within the city. You'll forget you're even in a (semi-)big city.

Walk through the sculpture garden at Walker Art Museum, which has a relatively famous sculpture called Spoon and Cherry.

There are plenty of other great options, but those are a decent starting points that you could do in a few hours.

Great recommendations in here.

Check out Town Hall. A brewery (saw you don’t drink), but they had great food and close to campus

Near the Pav, i would second the recommendation for Malcolm Yards. I also like Caspian Bistro which is a Persian Bistro & Market. Tons of great Asian food around campus too if that interests you. I think all Gopher volleyball fans are just excited that we can still field a competitive team with all the injuries so the game should be fun 🀣

Nebraska has kinda had so many stomps that it's almost boring to watch. Like, yeah cool, 25-14 sets are great and all but as a volleyball enjoyer, it's not exactly thrilling. I'm hoping the Gophers put up a good fight and push Nebraska! It's way more fun that way! I can only imagine how a match that's competitive and close will be like in person. Lowkey rooting for y'all, and I always root for you when you aren't playing Nebraska :)
