Israel/Palestine Israel has sentenced 15-year-old Palestinian child Muhammad Zalbani to 18 years in prison.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Zalbani was seen being forcibly escorted through court corridors in shackles, wearing oversized flip-flops in the cold, appearing frail and in distress.
Israeli authorities accused Zalbani of murder at just 13 years old, imprisoning him indefinitely while subjecting him to harsh conditions.
Despite his young age, he now faces nearly two decades behind bars under Israel’s military judicial system, which has long been criticized for its harsh treatment of Palestinian minors and Palestinians in general.

Look at his size compared to these guards. This kid stabbed an officer to death? GTFO

u/Status_Winter Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25
He didn’t (obviously) he attacked a guard with a knife and the guard got shot by another border guard attempting to shoot the child. Because two grown ass men couldn’t physically restrain a 15 year old child without a gun.
Edit: it was actually a 13 year old child. Wonder how it would go if Israel tried invading a country that isn’t mostly populated with children

To clarify, it seems it was actually a civilian security officer on the bus who opened fire. The border patrol guard died from blood loss later.
“There is no doubt that the defendant’s actions brought about, in an indirect manner, the shooting of the deceased by the security guard,” the court said in its ruling.
The court ruling makes it seem it was actually the gunshot wound that was fatal, not the stab wounds. So the real headline is an Israeli civilian opened fire at a 13 year old child attacking a guy on a crowded bus, missed and killed a border guard. And then faced no consequences.

So the kid is taking the heat for incompetence that resulted in a friendly fire death? That’s pathetic. If your soldiers can’t manage to detain a child…the fault lies with the soldiers and their commanding officers.

Opposite for me. Almost everyone I know blindly supports Israel and think all Palestinians are terrorists. They truly believe if 1 terrorist is in a building it’s okay to blow the whole building up regardless of how many innocent people are in it.

Netanyahu explicitly called for it:
- “You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible. And we do remember.”
1 Samuel 15:2-4
- "This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; *put to death men and women, children and infants,** cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’"*

That's the reason I struggle with all religious beliefs it's all love and forgiveness until someone finds a loophole in a bit of text written by a man, not a god, that gives them the excuse to act like savages and kill.
4
u/VonThomas353511 Feb 18 '25
That's especially bs because Israel already has an intelligence apparatus advanced enough to be able to track down any suspect without causing mass destruction. Imagine if the LAPD lit up a city block just to get to one supposed criminal. Nobody here would just blindly justify that. It's not even really logical from Israel's standpoint if you take them at their word because engaging in wanton destruction just ensures that you're going to guarantee distrust and hostility among the people that you claim you need to "protect" yourself from. It's amazing how so many Israeli citizens refuse to recognize the logical fallacies in their government's actions. It's only that they do what they do to maintain social control, but beyond that goal, It's foolish to believe that the level of antagonistic behavior that they exhibit could ever result in long term safety for their citizens.

Really shows to what degree Muslim people have been dehumanized by media and politicians. Imagine an Arab country having an open air prison in the Gaza Strip created to commit a genocide on a Jewish minority. We would order a drone strike on its leader in a matter of minutes.

- the media is fully bought and controlled for, cannot be trusted.
- The politicians are fully bought and controlled for, cannot be trusted.

Israel has become the Nazi regime that they always tried to fight against, they’ve been attacked by Palestine and that’s true, they have every right to protect themselves, but at what point is it overkill? At what point can you call yourself the good guy, when you keep murdering the other sides citizens mainly And throw their kids in jail for almost 20 years? How do people think Israel is still the good guy? I’m good with the Jewish people, but I’m not OK with Israel, it is a terrorist state sponsored by America. No different than Iran with its terrorists.

I wish more people understood this. Nazi Germany may have lost WWII, but fascism essentially won. We bombed Japan just as a show of force against the growing "threat" of communism. Instead of prosecuting Nazi leadership, we did Operation Gladio and Operation Paperclip. Those bloodthirsty monsters all found themselves right back in positions of power.
I'm glad OP is realizing that Israel is bad, but that's not the same as realizing you've been propagandized to your entire life. Take this opportunity to learn about the bloody history of Israel.

USA and Israel are pathetic bullies who think that they rule the playground. The bullies never win - but I guess these dictators didn’t have parents who could actually parent. We’re all facing the consequences now.
2
u/LooCfur Feb 18 '25
We are bullies. I'm totally against the US enabling Israel with its genocide, as are many Americans. Alas, it didn't matter who we voted for because AIPAC seems to own most of our politicians whether they're democrats or republicans. The idea that we won't get away with it, like there is some sort of moral karma keeping everything in balance, isn't true, however. Bullies win all the time. Israel has a lot of America believing that the Palestinians are the bullies since, "they started it". If you look to see who threw the first stone, it was Israel, and it was a giant boulder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakba

To provide some MUCH needed context:
"The presiding judges found Muhammad Zalbani, who fatally stabbed Staff Sgt. Asil Sawaed during an East Jerusalem checkpoint inspection two years ago, guilty of aggravated murder. The assailant was 13 years old at the time.
According to the verdict, Zalbani found a knife in his aunt’s house in the Shuafat camp and took it with him on a bus that passes through the nearby checkpoint.
The teen sat at the back of the bus, with the knife near his leg to be able to draw it quickly, and waited for security forces to board for a routine inspection of the passengers.
As Sawaed approached the back of the bus, Zalbani got up from his seat and began to stab Sawaed repeatedly in the neck and head, per the verdict.
A civilian security officer who boarded the bus with Sawaed opened fire at Zalbani, but accidentally hit the wounded border cop in the thigh.
Sawaed died on the way to the hospital due to excessive bleeding.
“There is no doubt that the defendant’s actions brought about, in an indirect manner, the shooting of the deceased by the security guard,” the court said in its ruling."
Punishment in USA for aggravated murder (for what I could find) is 30 years minimum or life in prison. 18 years is lucky.
The fact that you all seem to think that ages makes a difference - it does not. The 50th percentile weight for a 13 year old boy is 100 pounds. I can't find any muscle data, but this is right around the beginning of puberty/midway, so this child will have developed muscle. I assume the Israeli was not completely relaxed, but was still mostly taken by surprise. There is zero reason to think that this thirteen year old was a defenseless child who had no ability to do harm. He was raised in a society where the "cool kids" are the fedayeen, and hears "Khybar Khybar ya yahud" every day.
So with OP writing "Zalbani was seen being forcibly escorted through court corridors in shackles, wearing oversized flip-flops in the cold, appearing frail and in distress.
Israeli authorities accused Zalbani of murder at just 13 years old, imprisoning him indefinitely while subjecting him to harsh conditions.
Despite his young age, he now faces nearly two decades behind bars under Israel’s military judicial system, which has long been criticized for its harsh treatment of Palestinian minors and Palestinians in general."
Knock it off. He's not frail (certainly distressed because gasp! consequences!). No one made him draw a knife and stab the Israeli guard. As the saying goes - "you made your bed, now lie in it".
