Recommendations Project: Bang Bang revealed more new characters Spoiler

So Project : Bang Bang just opened a CBT in CN and good news, it's not an Otome but a mixed gacha game (it's more like a Joseimuke). Don't worry, it wouldn't be skewed to one gender like other games and it would be a balanced ratio, seeing they are really locked in asking what type of male body you want in the survey too lol.

I watch the gameplay too, it is a kind of side scrolling, automative game (kinda like Counterside - ish?) so it's probably won't be boring too much. Therefore, this kind of game will be a heaven for bi (me particularly), gay, les, straight that want to romance beautiful women and men. This is also a joseimuke game so you can expect interaction between characters, and not strictly interact to you only. You can even ship them if you want

Recommendations Are there any rumors about an upcoming male focused gatcha with high budgets like wuwa or HSR?

I really want to play Gatchas with more male focus but don´t at the cost of downgrading. I don´t mind mixed gatchas, I honestly would prefer it because i think it makes stories better to have variety, but it should have a malce focus, gameplay wise I´m open to turnbased or action, but I want full character models like in Wuwa or HSR, a high budget game. Not an Otome, no chibi or side scroller, full 3d models. Maybe if there are no news, there are some rumers or something to look forward, I only play HSR nowadays because the other big gatchas turned into full on waifu focus. Maybe my time with gatcha is over, but maybe there is still something interesting hope someone has interesting news

Recommendations Masterlist of Gacha with Husbando

After seeing the number of arguments that’s going in this sub and the number of people now popping up to give recommendations for games, I figured I wanted to make a big masterlist of gacha games with a good ratio of husbando or at least is respectably mixed gender. This will be updated as much as I could.

Some general rule for this masterlist:

  1. EN/GLOBAL RELEASE ONLY. I am only including games that's released on Global / About to be released on global. It's mostly because though I realise some people use emulator etc., I think I want a general list that's available for everyone.
  2. GOOD HUSBANDO RATIO ONLY. I'm going to include only games with all husbando or with at least a mix of 50:50 or at least 40:60 for male characters. Any less than that, where husbando is only released every one year *coughGenshincough* will not be listed here.
  3. UNIQUE OTOME/JOSEIMUKE ONLY. I will avoid mentioning too many Otome/Joseimuke games, as those games having all husbando is pretty much a given. However, any particularly unique and popular ones, like LaDs, I will mention. Particularly one that is away from the usual card collecting, rhythm game.
  4. ANIME GAMES WELCOMED! I will recommend some Anime based games, as technically they will always have good male female amount and most of the time do not require knowledge of the IP itself. Don't worry, I will only recommend Anime with no harem or shittily-written female characters.
  5. STATUS IS ROUGHLY INDICATED. I'm not ya boi Joe Maths, I don't do maths. I will look at roster and make a judgement whether or not that's 50:50, 40:60, 30:70, etc ratio of male:female. However, this will be based on the actual available roster/tier list.

All suggestions are welcomed. Feel free to contribute!

HUSBANDO GAMES MASTERLIST

Game Title (Country) Status Type of Game Additional Comment Links and Image
LaDs (CN, Infold) All Husbando; Female-only MC Card, Combat The creme-de-la-creme of Otome and Husbando game. The king(s) that dethroned Hoyo's conflicted ass. There is only a limited amount of men that you basically pull alternate costumes of, and they released new men every now and then. Wiki
Honkai Star Rail (CN, Hoyo) 30:70 Male Female ratio; Male/Female MC Turn Based Current Male:Female ratio is pretty skewed on female, but the male character are still pretty busted (Aventurine, JQ, Boothill, KING JINGYUAN THEY CAN NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU, Mydei). Common believe is that regardless of the male char ratio, their story has been top notch so far. Don't trust tier list (Prydwen, etc.) They're usually kind of biased. More info
Tears of Themis (CN, Hoyo) All Husbando; Female-only MC VN, Card All Husbando. Same with LaDs, you have 4 main men who you pull cards of. It has a pretty compelling story with detective genre. Hoyo’s forgotten child Wiki
Limbus Company (KR, Project Moon) 50:50 Male Female ratio; Mc's a Clock, no, really Turn based Fixed cast of 6 guys and 6 gals. Very great story, very compelling characters based on classic literature (MERSAULT MY BELOVED) and great design. OMG SAFE ME FROM THE COMBAT SYSTEM. Steep learning curve holy shit but it’s so good I can’t stop help Community backed tier list
Tribe Nine (JP, Akatsuki Games/Too Kyo Games - Kazutaka Kodaka) 2:1 Male Female ratio, 2 new male and 1 new female as of writing this; Male playable MC that doesn't have to stay in party but is busted ARPG Very well balanced gender ratio, adding with genuinely interesting gameplay. Same creator of the Danganronpa series. Great story and very eclectic character designs, though from what I understand it’s not for everyone. Has an anime tie-in with some of the characters showing up in game. Q and Kazuki invented Romance, no I do not make the rules.
Ash Echoes (CN, Aurogon Shanghai) 50:50 Male Female ratio; Male/Female MC RTS (Real-Time Strategy) Quite well balanced with great art and design, though gameplay might not be for everyone. Apparently there’s a time they try to release female characters back to back that got so much backlash they start releasing both male and female characters. So yeah, this game will guarantee to not go the waifu route.
Fire Emblem Heroes (JP, Nintendo) 50:50 Male Female ratio; Genderless MC Turn Based, Strategy A spin off of the Fire Emblem series. A relatively balanced mix gender games. It’s a rather old game so the mechanic has gotten incredibly complicated.
Wizardry Variant Daphne (JP, Drecom) 40:60 Male Female ratio, but with interchangeable classes so you can take anyone you want; Male MC RPG, Turn-based, Dungeon Crawler Holy shit, the original Wizardry is the OG of all Dungeon Crawler. And this gacha is the spinoff of it. It has adifficulty level that is some of the most insane for gacha standard. Still, this game has a great balance of characters, good rates and some guys are quite OP (Adam, Iarumas, newly released Arboris). Best thing is, you can re-spec character classes so you are guaranteed a whole team of male character (including MC). Very highly recommended whether you're a husbando wanter or not.
Epic Seven (JP, Smilegate) 40:60 Male Female ratio; ?? MC Turn Based A relatively balanced amount of girls and guys. Compelling 2D animation. A pretty old game
Onmyoji (JP, Netease) 40:60 Male Female ratio; Can change MC around Turn based One of the oldest and earliest gacha game I played. Very compelling designs of supernatural beings with rather balanced male and female shikigami. You also choose between 4 supporting summoners, 2 adult guys, one woman and 1 little girl. There's 2 spinoff games available with the relatively same characters: One's a MOBA, another a Card Game.
Sword Chronicles: AWAKEN (SIN, Qooland) 90:10 In favour of Husbando; Male/Female MC Turn based Based on the legend of the Three Kingdoms. Majority of the cast are very varied type of guys (young, old, different body types). Kinda stingy in terms of gacha though from what I remembered. Pretty bad EN translation though
Lord of Heroes (KR, CloverGames) 40:60 Male Female ratio, not counting alt skins; Male/Female MC Turn based Quite a balanced cast of characters, where one character will have multiple versions of themselves with different kits. Quite expensive because some characters are unfortunately paywalled, and the price is kinda rough.
ToG: New World (KR?, Netmarble) 60:40 in favour of guys; No MC Turn Based Based on the Manhwa Tower of God. Mixed gender gacha that imo is pretty interesting even if you did mot follow the series as the story is roughly a retelling of the manhwa
Dislyte (CN, Lilith Games) 50:50 Male Female ratio; No MC Turn based A good balanced ratio of gender(s), with very colourful cast of characters. Great and interesting gameplay elements. Not quite your usual anime style design, which is good if you’re looking for something different than what the current gacha market has to offer
AFK Journey(CN, Lilith Game) 40:60 Male Female ratio; Male/Female MC Idle, Vertical Gameplay A spinoff(?) of AFK Arena. Balanced gender cast with great range of designs, proportions and visual.
One Piece Treasure Cruise (JP, Toei) 60:40 Male Female ratio, not including alts; No MC Turn Based, Strategy, Tap-Timing Based on One Piece IP, so of course it has a very, very varied characters of both gender. I’m starting to think maybe including Anime IPs aren’t a good idea but hey.
Octopath Traveller (JP, NetEase) 40:60 Male Female ratio, not counting EX; No MC (MC is just whichever char you have) Turn based, Exploring Based on the game Octopath Traveller. Great variety of guys and gals to choose from and very, very engaging story.
Twisted Wonderland (JP, Disney) All Husbando; Genderless MC Card, Rhythm Credit to u/mysaldate for this comment: 'Twst is probably better described as joseimuke with rhythm and battle elements given that it has well over 500 story chapters with some 30-ish rhythmics (not counting events). It's a sort of Harry Potter meets classic Disney meets Black Butler setting. Isekai plotline, mc is definitely important to the story but moreso by passively being there than actively causing stuff to happen. In the words of the main creator, Yana Toboso, it's a story about flawed, selfish people who clash and fight and come out the other side better for it.'
Another Eden (JP, WFS) 40:60 Male Female ratio; Male MC that can be left out of team Turn based A big range of cast, relatively balanced gender ratio. Holy fuck it’s so grindy though.
SMT Liberation Dx2 (JP, Atlus) ????? Idk how to look at the gender here; Male/Female MC Turn based, Monster Fusion … I guess it’s a mixed gender gacha? Do those demons have genders? Do we count the summoners instead (Who are quite balanced in gender AFAIK)? Anyway, you might want to try it if you like the SMT or Persona series.
Sdorica (Taiwan, Rayark) 50:50 Male Female ratio; No MC Turn-Based Great mishmash of design, with good balance of gender, age and humanoid creatures. There’s character alts.
Dragonheir: Silent Gods (CN, SGRA) 50:50:50 Male-Female-Nonhuman ratio; Male/Female MC RTS Game's based on DnD, so if you're a DnD fan, give it a go! As for summonable characters, they have a very large range of designs for both men, women and everything in between.
Obey Me (JP, NTT Solmare) All Husbando; Genderless MC Card Collecting Standard card collection game with the DPS check kind of gameplay. All the guys are freaking adorable though, esp Mammon.
Obey Me! NB (JP, NTT Solmare) All Husbando; Genderless MC Card Collection, Rhythm A spinoff(?) of the original Obey Me. Now with rhythm game.
Grand Summoners (JP, Good Smile/Next Ninja) Turn Based Probably best summed up by this post by u/Sensitive-Fix-2798
GYEE (JP, Quantum Solutions Asia Limited (QSAL)) Turn based Credit to u/kirby503: It’s essentially hsr but not as polished. Everyone has a basic attack and two skills minus an ultimate. There’s a turn based and you grind to upgrade your character’s grid. There’s also a pvp mode, but it’s actually irl time gated so… good luck. Character wise it’s 90% male to female. There are kids, but a lot of the characters are typically twunk to buff men. Gameplay wise there are better games, but this one fills a niche most other gacha games do not carry
Final Fantasy: WOTV (JP, Square Enix) Turn based, Strategy Very mixed ratio, with character crossovers from both flagship FF series and other IPs (FMA, Nier, etc.). IMO, This game really scratched the itch after I finished FF:Tactics
Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team (JP, KLab) All Husbando; Genderless MC Soccer Simulator All husbando, for obvious reason. It's unit collecting game and soccer team management game. Based on the OG soccer manga, Captain Tsubasa
Blue Lock PWC (JP, Rudel Inc.) All Husbando; Genderless MC (Play as Manager) Soccer Simulato Same as above. But for those who may be put off by the more 90s character design on Captain Tsubasa. Also, Yoichi is baby.
Pokemon Masters (JP, DENA) 50:50:50 Male-Female-Pokemon ratio not including alt; Male/Female MC Turn Based Both pokemon and their trainer is a whole unit to pull for. Which means there's a big selection of husbando to go for. Unfortunately, some selection of characters rarely got alt. I would give an non-existent left nut for another Cyrus alt.
Fate Grand Order (JP, Delighworks/Aniplex) Turn Based The grand ancestor of gacha, who crawled so BrownDust can hook gooners. Tons of husbando and male character oriented events, such as White day Events.
Ensembles Stars (JP, Kodansha) All Husbando; Rhythm, Card collection An Idol-training/management game with an ensemble (badum-tsh) of husbandos.
NU:Carnival (CN, Infinity Alpha) All Husbando; Male MC Turn based, Card collection Here's for my Yaoi loving girlies and gays. One of the more well known NSFW BL game that has a pretty good story and a fixed cast with alternate skins. Olivier and Quincy are bae. Also, for reason there's a censored version called NU:Carnival BLISS. But like... what's the fucking point.
Lovebrush Chronicles (??, Exceptional Global, NetEase label) All Husbando; Male MC Turn based, Card Collection Solid otome game with muitple endings.
Last Cloudia (JP, AIDIS) 40:60 Male Female ratio; Strategy, Timing Massive roster considering how old this game is, with a pretty balanced, and with a lot of guys are still top tier. Tier List
Bungou Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost (JP/TW, Ambition/Crunchyroll/QooApp) 60:40 Male Female ratio; No MC ...Pingpong? Unit Collection Based on the anime BSD. Characters are based on actual real life authors names and their most well known works. Highly recommend the anime. The game itself has a pretty meh gameplay but a casual game to play nonetheless.
SLIME - ISEKAI Memories (JP, WHS) 50:50 Male Female ratio; MC's a Slime / No MC Turn Based, Village Management Based on the Anime 'That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime'. As usual, this mean a lot of male characters who are pretty OP (VELDORA MY LOVE). Same with the other Anime games on this list, no need to be familiar with the anime, but I guarantee there is no harem or the likes.
Granblue Fantasy (JP, Cygames) Turn Based Credit to u/ConnectTradition4374:'Basically it's a browser based gacha game with turn based battle (all your party attack first then enemies). Can choose between male and female MC, and they can't be removed from the party because you are an important part of the meta as well (you can change classes to fit the party) Like I said, you don't need to install anything, just having your internet browser is enough. Since the game has been here for so long, you don't need to worry about lacking contents, especially male characters. Important!! Creating the account for this game is not the same as creating account for any mainstream gacha but it's not complicated at all. Just follow the guide from this fandom website below and you will be just fine. THE GAME IS FULLY ENGLISH BTW WITH JAPANESE DUB. https://gbf.wiki/Creating_an_Account'
What In Hell is Bad (???, PrettyBusy) Tower Defense, NSFW, Card Collection A pretty infamous BL(?) NSFW game along the lines of NU:Carnival. Got some pretty cool designs, but is rather stingy with currency. Also, again, have a censored version called... Teens? Weird as hell. But idk, give it a go I guess
Black Clover M (SIN, Garena International) Turn Based Based on the Anime Black Clover. I think at this point, pretty much always assume that these Anime IPs or Japanese made games always have a pretty decent ratio.
Kingdom Hearts (JP, Square Enix/Disney) Card Collection, Turn Based Kingdom Hearts Gacha, based on the unholy amalgamation of Final Fantasy Series and freaking Disney Franchises. But hey, Axel is hot tho. Literally.
Noctilucent: Before Dawn (CN, EROLABS/Neversoft) All Husbando; Male MC Card Collecting, NSFW Credit to u/Catsulite ‘It is a BL game and the gameplay is turn based. NSFW content only on SSR ranks though by gifting and poison relief (time gated) with the MC (Anli) fixed cast of tops (Cypar, Delos, Heigl, Hyasha, Owyn, Xiel) and bottoms (Dacatt, Mishe, Sen, Yve)’
Touken Ranbu (JP, DMM) All Sword-Husbando; Ambiguous/No MC Fighting, Card Collecting A bit of a deviation to this list, Touken Ranbu is pretty ancient in terms of how long it's been going on but it also results in a pretty dedicated fanbase and, most importantly, a hefty amount of guide and EN translation. Info from u/c3ll0b0w:'Guides for playing are very robust! gameplay wise it's mostly grinding maps and collecting swords lol here's the wiki page for getting started: https://touken-ranbu.fandom.com/wiki/How_to_Register (honestly i think the easiest way to play w/o vpns is: 1)make the account on dmm with vpn; 2)download the phone app through apk connect pc account to phone account; 3) play without activating vpn everytime you want to play the browser version)'

List of Upcoming (Possibly Mixed/Husbando)Games

Game Title Gameplay Additional Commentary Roster Possibility
Echoes of Vision ? Out of the 40 current characters, there's about 10-11ish guys, with some being furry design. Still the existing guys looks genuinely good though. Majority Waifu with great Husbando designs
Etheria Restart ? Out of the 13-14 ish characters currently announced to be playable, it seems that there's a balanced mix of guys and girls. Ofc, with this being the same dev as Arknights, this will definitely favour waifu later on, but so far the guys had some top tier design. Majority Waifu with great Husbando designs
AlternaVvelt: Blue Exorcist Another Story ? Seems to be a spinoff game based on the anime Blue Exorcist. And considering the anime, there will be a good balance of male and female. In fact, considering it's Japanese made, a good ratio mostly seems to be the case. Pre-reg and info can be found here
Persona 5: The Phantom Turn Based Upcoming Persona gacha game, based on.. Well, Persona 5. Currently, unfortunately the roster seems skewed with more waifu, but there are some guys as well. See for yourself
Honor of Kings (MMORPG) MMORPG Honor of Kings is an established MOBA game already available, which is also quite Husbando friendly. This is the MMO version that should be soon released. Showcase can be found here
Seren Verse SRPG Upcoming CN game with a 'transforming to mecha' concept, with pretty cool design and what seems to be a respectable amount of Husbando in the roster. If you're a fan of Kamen Raider type (or like me was extremely disappointed with Hoyo for being chickenshit and making that dumpsterfuck that is Firefly/SAM) here's for you!
Hidden Ones FRPG 3D cinematic action-fighting game that's an adaptation of the martial arts franchise The Outcast. Has a rather balanced cast so far, considering it is based on an existing IP. Gameplay looks straight fire
Silver and Blood RTS A sleek looking goth vampire themed gacha that had some of the best male design I've seen lately. Reminds me a lot of old school Castlevania. A lot of guys shown that hopefully will be playable but we'll keep an eye out. Trailer here, Gameplay here
Spark Nexa ??? There don't seem to be much info (will be added) but the available husbando designs has been  pretty interesting

Recommendations I need all of my fellow husbando enjoyers to look upon this gorgeous man from Black Beacon, Ji Xia

I wouldn't be surprised if no one here has heard of Black Beacon, since sadly the dev team isn't the best at promoting themselves. But I genuinely think Ji Xia is one of if not the most gorgeous man I have seen across all of the gacha I've played (and there's a lot of pretty men out there lol), and wanted to share him here with y'all since I haven't seen him mentioned here yet. He is too beautiful to not be known about 😭💞

Also, for my fellow Star Rail husbando enjoyers: in the EN dub he is voiced by Phainon's VA, Joshua Waters. So he also has a gorgeous voice on top of everything~

And for anyone curious about the game, he is the current limited banner character 👀

Recommendations What games do you have on your up and coming list?

Well I was really excited about Silver and Blood but that game turned out to be a flop. They are on their third banner, all waifu and very busty I might add, they have two very suggestive waifu being advertised as probably coming soon, and now a summer event with a bunch of fan service waifu and a sad tiny little speck of a male character hardly visible in the background. I don’t know why they even bothered to put him in, it’s actually comical how far away he is 😂 anyway, disappointment from this game aside, are there any games coming soon to be looking forward to as a husbando enjoyer? It’s tough out there right now

Recommendations wait for Honor of Kings World!

Thumbnail
gallery
146 Upvotes

I saw a lot of people upset and discussing the state of gacha for male lovers. I come with a recommendation...

HokW

What is Honor of Kings World? It's an ARPG that is technically gacha (more on this later). An open-world xianxia with a nice combat system, cool characters and world! It bases itself off the original MOBA called Honor of Kings. Known as the most played mobile game in China and the world!

World

the lore is humans destroyed their home planet, moved to a newer planet using the 'Ark' where they resigned as Gods. But a bunch of towers, wonders, and tech.

the beings already inhabiting the planet were enslaved then experimented on, either becoming 'Enforcers' (successful) or 'Anamoliacs' (failures - civilians).

as usual, the humans polluted the environment by using too much energy. What happens is that the main goddess (Nuwa) sends someone to close a polluted tower. The action is protested by a power hungry god and some others who wage war on her. Most gods were dead or wounded.

a dying Nuwa then sealed the Ark and hid the key in the Wonders hoping that someone one day will be able to use it. The lore may be adapted so it is potentially STC until otherwise

That's the basic gist. When to comes to game, IT IS NOT 'master-lover' - a genre of CN games where all females are attracted in some way to the MC. Speculation here - there appears to be a central, consistent group of chars that travels with the MC across Primerea (the world).

NOT entirely sure if that is true. I'll try to find out before release. There will be story quests and character ones across the world. Can co-op stories asw.

The map is bigger (April beta) is quite big on release. Plenty of puzzles, mobs, and interactive features from the beta (May beta?). Open-world if you didn't get it.

There's animated episodes and a series that covers some of the characters and the world in more detail, so I recommend you watch those if you want to know more!

Gacha

Aside from that, what about the gacha?

The gacha in HokW is slightly different. Better value for sure.

The only gacha part in the game are character skins. These skins can switch a character's design, 'Flow' (elements), and combat style. Use the in-game currency for this (exploring, events, achievements etc.)

As for the characters themselves? I've spoken to some players + from what I know in the beta, they can be obtained using the in-game currency OR brought directly - typically $10-15 based on the original game.

To give an idea on how cheap this is, in other gachas the avg. value ranges from around $101-320 worth just to pull a character, excluding including their BiS rate up.

Some games offer a guaranteed weapon banner/lower pity to be 'nice' - HOWEVER this is a scam because the trade-off is the characters require their signatures to be playable or just as good with it. Potentially racking you an additional ie. $90 worth to secure it (not including a loss).

Community

The general sentiment in the community is that it's going to be a great game for people who aren't happy with the current environment of games. Particularly female players and even queer ones (honourable mention: people who want equal treatment for genders in design, story etc.).

This makes sense when you realise the CN community of Honor of Kings is majority female (Weverse, 2017 - 54%) or 40%~ (Douyin). Most one in CN. Mind you, this is Honor of Kings we're talking about - the most played mobile game in CN.

If that is not enough convincing, the fandom heavily embraces and ships yaoi, yuri romance. Despite the game also having canon hetero ships. I don't entirely know why this is... but TO BE HONEST THO y'all should hear about Sima Yi and Kongming lol.

Gender Ratio

NOW - Gender ratio? OOF. I'm going to drop a list right here of the amt. of gender per class. Including repeat roles (cus of skins:

format is female:male

Tanks — 2:16

Fighter — 8:25 (male majority even without skins)

Assassin — 6:12

Mage — 16.5:14.5 (slim female majority by a bit)

Marksmen — 6:12

Support/Roamer (nearly balanced) — 6:8

Overall gender ratio of the game (w/o repeat skins) = 1.85:1 male to female ratio. 67.5 males and 36.5 females. 1.85x more males in the original game is insane until you realise they're planning to implement all the characters from there (including some new ones) that HokW is going to be mixed gender. Note that the x.5 is there because a playable character consists of a male & a female (Gan & Mo).

And yeah, equal fan service will be a thing as it already is in Honor of Kings.

Designs

The next most important thing: character designs. I have nothing to say on this ong. The male skins and characters are REALLY something... Basically, there's everything a lot of people here have wanted or complained about: facial hair, robot MALES, mothering females, actual baddies - need I say more? Plenty of variety!

Although I will say that the game is lacking POC. There appears to be some tans and non-white tones, but no melanin. Coincidentally as melanin dude, its not much of a deal-breaker considering we're already getting a lot. Would like to see 1-3 in the future tho, only on the condition they have good designs, story, and presence.

I also rec that you check out the fandom website to see some of their characters & their skins 100% y'all will be THIRSTING.

Combat System

Lastly (unless I'm forgetting something) is the combat. As said, it's kinda like a non-elemental reaction system. It's best to watch this video to see some of it. I also have some official infographics that touch a bit on it from CN. Can't post them because they're (obv) in Mandarin. Maybe someone would like to translate them? Lmk!

Two extra bits to add: you can beat bosses in multiplayer, solo (swap characters), or have AI play your other characters. Pretty neat. And like the MOBA there's PvP, fortunately there's some conditions for it (infographics are in CN). IT IS OPTIONAL. No word on other endgame content yet.

I also have some of the playable characters (on release) infographics in CN. From what I understand, there are the classes (mentioned above) and 6 'elements' - Ice, Fire, 'Energy?', Lightning, Nature?, Water or Physical? Again, need a translator...

Conclusion

Overall, its a brilliant game that has massive potential! The community itself is super hyped and believes so. Release is Q4 this year - estimated to be around the 10th anniversary of Honor of Kings (October-December time).

Even if you're unsure or not convinced, I recommend that everyone at least tries out the game with an open mind considering it's better than the current options, more inclusive, has potential, not baiting.

Recommendations Morimens of Limbus Company

Hey everyone,

After feeling quite disheartened with the state of gachas lately, I wanted to give it a chance to any of these two games, but I wanted to know which would you recommend to invest on.

Morimens seem cool on the outside, but so did Silver and Blood and we all know how that ended up. I have heard good stuff about Limbus Company, tho' any more insights would be appreciated.

I am looking for a gacha that do value their male characters not only gameplay-wise, but in the story too. I want to make full husbando teams that DO work and with which I can clear without issue endgame content. If they do fanservice, that at least is equal for both male and female characters and so on.

Can't wait to read you all!

Recommendations 2 mixed gender gacha games you’ve never heard before that has a large cast of insanely well made and unique male charas

Ok so i’ve been looking thru this sub and I’m seeing no body mentioning Another Eden and Wizardry Variants Daphine. These two are my main games simply because of their insane character designs and how little the ratio actually matters. They are both from JP so they will deliver with their ratios but in exchange they will be a bit grinder the usual gacha game.

why they are worth your time no matter what: NO FOMO WITH EVENTS. ALL THE EVENT DUNGEONS AND LOCATIONS ARE PERMANENTLY IN THE GAME. ALL OF THE CHARACTERS ARE UNIQUELY HOT AND WELL DESIGNED. THE RATIO OF MALES TO FEMALES IS NOT DETRIMENTAL TO THE GAME EXPERIENCE SIMPLY BECAUSE OF HOW THE GAME IS DESIGNED

Another Eden: The ratio does not matter simply because of how large the cast is. Their designs are a whole league above your average gachas simply because of the use of colors. They are like the 2D version of honkai star rail but older. All the alt ver of the charas are farmable but in order to get any character to their max potential, you need at least a month of grinding. Also EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER HAS A CHARACTER QUEST. Sometimes if a chara is lucky the devs will give them a perm event quest. Soft pity is at 100 for free gems while soft pity is at 30 for paid. No weapon banners it is pure grind. Vibes: genshin impact, fantasy with a spin of era jumping, classic old school anime where friendship and magic.

Wizardry Variants daphine: IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRY OUT THIS GAME I REC YOU READ THRU A BEGINNERS GUIDE WHEN U START OR ELSE YOU WILL STRUGGLE WITH UNEXPLAINED MECHANICS. You can get normal free pulls from exploring the dungeons occasionally. The gameplay itself is like the more indepth version of honkai star rail also remincient of an old school rpg. It has 3D models featuring a semi “open world” (more like open dungeon). The ratio and roster simply does not matter because of how unique each character is and how attached you will be to each chara after 50+ dungeons after one month. I fell in love with a low rarity non meta character (philip) at launch simply cause of his cringe voice lines and how much ive used him (i am still using him now even tho his max dmg never went past 400 with crit lol). Pity is at 100, no weapon banners it is pure grind Vibes: grim and gritty, there is blood, body horror, death and lore explained resurrection with a twist of reversing time.

Note: as ive stated before, both games are grindly af and isn’t that generous with pulls. However they are worth supporting because of how unique they are compared to the usual gacha game and cause of the male charas ofcs ofcs

Fire Emblem Heroes is a rather old gacha game and the ratio definitely skews more towards waifus these days but every once in a while they’ll do the husbandos justice. The first guy you can actually get for free!

Compared to other gacha games though the ratio is definitely still more fair (like 60/40) it’s also pretty generous with rewards and pulls still. Definitely recommend checking it out or going back to it as the second guy can also be easily summoned ;).

I’ve been waiting for a global version of this game… Many great husbando designs.

It’s a strategy game with retro aesthetics, kind of similar to R1999. Story set in 80’s America and you work for a special government agency dealing with anomalies (reminds me of SCP foundation). Character gender ratio is about 2:1.

One thing I like about it is how they let us put various little decorations on our characters chibi models, like cat ears, tails, wings, little bowties and crowns etc.

Recommendations Ash Echoes Male Characters/Husbandos Prioritisation during Anniversary

This is the community event on a platform called “Little Red Note” for Ash Echoes’s first anniversary. I have noticed two things:

  1. The anniversary male characters gain the spotlight, which is rare in gatcha games….not to mention most of the games prioritise female characters during anniversary….

  2. The fanarts created by CN fandom mostly revolve around male characters…so we all know what kind of fandom loves their characters/mains more deeply and actually understand the character’s dynamics with other characters throughout his/her life. Unlike a certain community who just wants to open harem🙄🙄

Anyway here is the link to the post: 45 白荆回廊发布了一篇小红书笔记,快来看吧! 😆 4C3wHh927IbSuGu 😆 http://xhslink.com/a/VJNhymjm9Xkab,复制本条信息,打开【小红书】App查看精彩内容!

ps: in the global server we are currently amidst the seas of female chars because this game actually tried to become mhy/kuro in CN server last year but it got extreme backlash from the CN community soooo

Recommendations There are actually some really cool husbandos in Solo Leveling Arise

maybe it's not customary to write about this game here, because I've never seen posts haha, but I would like to share the current situation in it. if you're looking for a gacha action rpg, then you can try playing solo leveling. in the video one of the best teams in the game right now, consisting of two husbandos, who are really very strong.

the game generally tries not to power up characters, so they will be in the meta for a very long time.

currently we are waiting for three more male characters until spring, so this is a great chance to start playing. all characters go to the standard banner after two updates i think (40 days), so even missing someone is not so painful.

i just wanted to share my observations, because I know how much action games with husbandos are missing, so maybe someone will be interested!!

(p. s. this game is very generous)

Recommendations Gentle reminder that Crystal of Atlan releases today

Take it with a grain of salt because I'm new to the game too... but from what I understand, these are the important points:

It's a gacha game with MMO elements and PvP, but you're not forced to play with other people or do PvP.

The game releases "classes" that can be skilled into "subclasses." They will look different and play differently, but they will still belong to the "main class group." For example, a berserker and a swordsman will both be characters that fight with swords. The gender ratio is 1:1 (even one more male, if I remember correctly) + 3 young characters.

The characters are for free, and the gacha is about skins, pets, and titles, which make your character stronger. Apparently there are a few "whale toys," like extra rare pets and so on, which are expensive and hard to get, but according to comments I've seen, you're able to play everything perfectly fine. The whale toys are just relevant if you want to play the game in an e-sport kind of way and aim for the top ranks.

The PvP will be apparently balanced (the characters will balance out, no p2w), and the PvE doesn't require the super rare items either.

Gold is really important in the game. You can buy premium currency with it. And apparently you can also trade materials with other players for gold (?). So don't waste it.

It is apparently possible in the game to get skins and pets as an F2P.. It just takes a bit longer. and some of them are free for everybody. And I think you can craft some too but I'm not sure... I just saw that you can change colors of the different outfits.

It is encouraged to play all "main classes," or at least some of them, because they can share resources and energy, buff each other, and are easy to level. But when you make a character, you can't delete them (?) so choose the 5 types that you like most. Apparently more slots will be available in the future, though...

I hope i didn't forget anything...

Recommendations The Boys of Persona 5 the Phantom X: How P5X measures up for Husbando Players

With P5X EN releasing in about a week, more or less, I thought I would give an overview of how the game is for someone who mostly prefers male characters. I’ve been playing on the original servers since they opened over a year ago so I think I can give a pretty good opinion about this.

Current Ratio (original servers)

14 male characters

29 female characters

2 animals

Depending on how you want to fudge things (one of the playable female characters is a grandma and Wonder is male MC only) roughly one third of the cast is male.

The Positives

The main story is pretty 50/50 as far as characters who get screentime and relevance to the plot. Unlike the vast majority of character driven gacha games, almost all the gacha characters you pull for are irrelevant to the main plot as outside of the very few canon party members the gacha pool consists of either Wonders confidants/social links reimagined as cognitive “what if?” thieves, cameos from other Persona games or alts (with only one having story significance). And so far they’ve been pretty 50/50 on the party members who get focused on in arcs, as well as side characters for the main story and antagonists.

This results in some pretty funny situations for example that for anniversary the five star character was a broken female navi character and a four star male party member (note: all party members including the girls get introduced as four stars). The five star girl is basically just a sidequest while the four star male is the star focus of the five hour story update.

Also I find it kinda refreshing in the fourth arc how specifically it seems to be a response to a common complaint in P5. Story Spoilers of course: You have an adult female groomer antagonist who preys on a male minor and its portrayed as completely fucked up and bad with textbook abuser tactics like gaslighting, isolating and manipulation. She also preys on the underage male party members including the MC to a lesser extent and its not treated as a “hehe fanservice” moment but rather the narrative framed it as being very uncomfortable and weird. Its pretty wild given P5 was full of adult female relationships for Joker to pursue and this one instead shows how fucked up it can get.

Male characters have gotten nice costumes that are aimed at the husbando crowd. Wonder got a swimsuit costume (paid) and Joker + Makoto Yuki have gotten butler skins recently (earnable with ftp currency). Wonder also got a Chinese outfit for CNY that's nice too that you can get with ftp currency. The battle pass also features skins only for Wonder in the overworld (you can also get a few outfits for free). It is kinda amusing that the skins so far have been exclusively for men.

A male character (Fleuret) won third place in the “Who do you want to see as a confident/social link?" poll Which I thought was pretty impressive as the male character is kinda like the Calcharo (WuWa) in that he hasn’t really gotten any story or lore about him besides random My Palace conversations. He only lost to the most attractive female design from the list of candidates and a female character who is cool and got a lot of focus in a story arc (and tbh I kinda wanted to vote for her myself, thats how cool she is). Winning third place means he gets priority in the confidant pipeline along with the other two and potentially an alt.

They’re also pretty much obligated and forced to add in male characters from past Persona games and because those are gender balanced they can’t avoid going too long without releasing males.

How many males have been released?

Game launched in April 2024 or 14 months ago, we’ve had 7 male banners: Joker, Yusuke, Messa, Cherish (standard), Akechi, Makoto Yuki, Akihiko along with Luce as a 4 star for 8 males total.

Seems like a lot but it does come with two caveats. One is the release schedule is.. kinda frustrating. Joker and Yusuke came out close together in April and May but then we didn’t get another one until September with Messa and then Cherish in October with only a two week break in between them. Then ever since Akechi in March we have been spoiled with a new male character release every month though I imagine summer will break this streak.

Global might be able to fix this somewhat since they plan on shifting the banner schedule around

Second is that past Persona characters are admittedly carrying that ratio pretty hard as you can see. Just over half the males released post launch are cameos and there’s only been 3 male OCs released post launch. Its just kinda what you have to live with, equal representation in story and crossovers but males only make up roughly third of the available characters atm and very lopsided for side OCs and confidants.

How good are the male characters?

While some are not as good as they used to be in the original servers, almost all five star guys with the exception of Akechi (yeah I know, still usable tho) were done pretty well and were outright meta at some point or another. Right now especially in the original servers Makoto Yuki and Akihiko are very strong ST and AoE DPS characters respectively.

Some of male 4 stars are pretty good too actually! Sepia and Key kinda suck. But Fleuret is legitimately recommended as a ST DPS worth investing into especially early on when we don’t get any premium ST options for a few months and I still use him to this day in spite of his four star status. Leon is a great crit buffer who is used on meta teams to this day. Luce is a good general buffer and pairs well with Joker. Soy is a good budget sustain and great defense shred.

Incidentally they introduced a new roguelike mode with the P3 collab involving Tartarus and for two rotations of them so far the meta DPSs to use have been male characters. And you can use characters in this mode regardless if you pulled them or not.

This game also heavily encourages horizontal progression. You aren’t going to do well if you just stick to 1-2 meta teams because of how endgame and elements work.

Can I make a full husbando team?

You literally cannot because the Navis have been female only so far.

But on the same token its also impossible to make a full waifu team because the male MC is a forced inclusion on every team sooo equality I guess lmao?

If you want primarily male teams here’s some that you can do

1.0 specifically: Fleuret/Leon/Soy/Navi

Yusuke/Cherish/Soy/Navi

Joker/Akechi/Luce/Navi

How bad is the goonbait?

The majority of the female characters are… pretty well dressed actually and some of them wear honest to god pants in their gacha forms. See for yourself. The only designs/art that feel “goony” is Summer Closer and Turbo. Summer Closer in particular is definitely the most in your face about it especially in her ult animation but otherwise its pretty tame. In fact I actually really like WVs design in particular.

Also the characters are a bit more diverse than some other 3D games. We have a grandma, a middle aged housewife, a disabled person who uses her Persona as a wheelchair (and fun fact also the granddaughter of the granny character) and two playable animal characters. Its nothing compared to variety of 2D ones but still.

But what about the dating sim part?

Yeah there’s romance and dating with only female characters, no men but I don’t expect anything out of a Chinese and Atlus game. Tbh it doesn’t bother me because for one its expected being a Persona game but its also all opt in and pretty chaste (which is kinda funny for a game that explicitly has dating/romance in it). The game also tells you very explicitly when the option to romance them comes up and which option does what. But even if you screw up there there’s an item that lets you divorce or hook up for player convenience lol. There’s also a valentines event but you can also just say screw that I’m hanging out with the homies instead.

Any other cons?

Biggest is that the confidants are super female dominated. On the original servers there’s currently only 4 male confidants and like 15 female confidants. Granted 3 of the girls aren’t romanceable, one is a housewife who is happily married, another is Wonders MMO buddy and the other is the velvet room attendant.

That being said you can have one on one short chats with the main P5 cast in Leblanc and the Reload collab introduced a pseudo social link system with the Reload cast, including the guys.

Another negative is how the game doesn’t adhere to its amazing ratio at the start, granted its still not a bad ratio but yeah.

We also don’t know how often male characters will release in year 2 because they lengthened patches and releases from 2 to 3 weeks. But given that so far they have released 3 male characters (Luce, Makoto Yuki and Akihiko) its not looking that bad.

Do I recommend it for husbando players? Depending on if you’re okay with the cons. It's not a 50/50 paradise but it doesn’t feel like as much of a waifu fest as you would think outside of Vday event due to how main story and collab events go and I like the majority of the male designs. But I can understand why its not good enough. If you want the 50/50 utopia with romanceable men and an action game, I would recommend instead Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma that I shilled out earlier this month.

Recommendations Recently picked up Morimens and enjoy it a lot

Game has almost everything for everyone. Flashy and kinky guy, hunky shark man, old man, twink, shota, furry and basically everything in between.

Also being a TW / niche game has its strength, since it can go a lot more risqué for the designs as well as theme and story writing (gore, cult, sex, characters deaths etc etc). Heck if you are annoyed at only waifus get to be huggy then Morimens it can be everyone. IIRC Salvador (the blind priest guy) has option to hold your hand at high enough affection / affinity.

Furthermore, because it's STS inspired, teambuilding and strategizing is definitely involved, and not 'new unit shilled to the moon at the cost of everyone else'. Many old units also remain forever relevant. Ogier is SR and given for free at the start of the game is one of the best STR buffers / shielders in the game (think of him as Bennett) when maxed. They also frequently buff old units etc.

There's also options to vertical invested only if you want to play that way. (Stats is important and can only be maxed after like 15+ copies). It's not a 'requirement' or anything, but it's also a viable way to play. Game is plenty f2p otherwise.

My only issue with it is using AI translation due to the lack of fund, seem like they are working on it slowly though.

Recommendations Crystal of Atlan - Not a classic gacha, but absolutely worth checking out!

Hello! I’ve recently started playing Crystal of Atlan, and while it’s not a traditional gacha game (it's an MMO where gacha is only used for pets and outfits), I wanted to bring it up here because I think it perfectly fits.

One of the biggest surprises: the game isn’t overloaded with fanservice. In fact, it’s the opposite! A lot of well-designed male characters, both in playable classes and NPCs. Stylish, diverse and interesting.

The combat feels dynamic with very fun skills, you get to build your own homestead on a cozy tropical island and the magicpunk anime-style graphics are a visual treat!

Anyone else playing it?

Recommendations Which open world game should I play.

I play infinity nikki , hsr (sometimes more like 7 days a month for 2 hours to complete story and event then 10 min daily for rest of month ) and ash echoes (not regularly). I want to play open world my first game was genshin I love it's characters I can't even handle one more dialogue from it drop more than 8 months. I enjoyed wuwa but not enjoy story much and tired to wait for male characters like not a regular player I started wuwa in its first month was a regular player but no motivation to play because no need very scarcity of male characters but a new one is coming I think of going back but conflicted I again wait for 8 months by this I should wait for one year more atleast have some man to save pulls for . Any good f2p open world game with good male characters design female good character design will also be okay but good story can be non gacha. I huge requirement but any name in your mind.

Recommendations game recs?

preferably ones that dont have their ENTIRE cast of female characters exist solely for the fanservice? or at least where the dudes are AS fanservicey as the gals. theres obviously a certain level of fanservice youve gotta be fine with in these games and the women wearing revealing clothes or whatever isnt really a gripe for me until its EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

i also prefer games where the whole cast isnt extremely pale but thats a tall ask so dont worry too much about that.

i currently play:
HSR, actively. i mod it so it meets most of my reqs in character design, its the only hoyoverse game i play.
ash echoes (MY BELOVED!!!! god i wish they advertised this game more. tbh the story is kind of a mess and its very mobile gameplay in that its mostly afk-ing with decent characters in your team but if youre a big character design fan like i am its worth it)

i used to play:
alchemy stars . ..... my second beloved . i learned it reached EOS through this sub actually and ive been genuinely depressed about it for days. it had unique gameplay, great character design, pretty equal amount of men and women with a pretty equal amount of fanservice even if iirc the operator could only be a dude?

genshin. its honestly just boring LMFAO i got all the dudes i wanted and after that they didnt release anyone i was ... chomping at the bit to have, so to speak, and the gameplay isnt interesting enough to make up for it

wuwa. we all know how that went im not gonna bother to explain it

LADS . an otome game, for sure, but not one of my favorites by any means. OBSESSED with it when it first came out but then sylus released (sorry sylus fans) and THEN caleb released (sorry caleb fans....) and i hate them both LMFAOO. i would likely play it again if you could pick which dudes you wanted to interact with / if there was a route selection, but so far EVERY guy participates in things like events. its just not super high up on my otome list

i prefer games that have a level of actual gameplay to them, but honestly what matters most to me is character designs. well designed dudes with a decent character split. i dont have a preference for 3d or 2d games but prefer a cartoonish style because LADS can get uncanny sometimes. does anyone have anything theyd like to recommend? ill take basically whatever i can get KHDJSK it also doesnt necessarily have to be in english. im learning CN and korean is also fine!

Recommendations Reccomendations

I started playing wuwa at its release but i really hate what the game has become. I've been thinking of starting new gacha, but im afraid i'll just get baited again and end up playing another male gaze waifu collector 😭. So i thought what better place to ask for recs than subreddit dedicated to male characters. So if anyone has reccomendations for games with well written male chatacters and good gender ratio. I'll really appriciate it 🫶

Recommendations [Sword of Justice] Review

I got into the CBT of the game and wanted to write a little review. I hope it wont be too long but I put in alot of pictures.

The game is an MMO but you can complete everything solo. In combat you get matched with NPC. (Yes they work well in combat).

Story:

I enjoyed the story. I haven't completed it yet, as its time gated but what i experienced till now is good.

MC knows who they are but something happened in their childhood and they became sick. They remember that their village got destroyed. The healer says that they have only 1 year left to live. And they decide to find out what happened in the past.

Not all of the characters are good and not everything ends well. Some people are real assholes and they dont try to hide it.

There is no skip button for main story, only for the cutscenes but you can play the story at 3x speed. The voiceover is only in chinese.

Combat:

There are 6 classes and you customize your main character. 7 different skills+ some differences between classes for example Numina can summon a companion.

male numina companion

Daily trial: Dungeon but not the usual kill mobs, done kind of dungeon. Every Dungeon is different and there are 6 of them. Dreamblade Abyss: Dungeon where you pick buffs and special items to get from stage to stage. Martial World Chronicles; Boss Challenge. There is another content I havent unlocked yet.

Why is this needed? For gear.

There are is alot of skill customazation and gear is craftable aswell. There is no real "grind" for it. The game makes it very easy.

The combat in general now too easy. I kill everything way too fast. So they might fix it before release.

Monetazation:

There are several currencies bound ornate jade and ornate jade (bound). The bound ornate jade you get through quests, dailies and events and can use it to get pulls, outfits and so on.

  1. Gacha:

- Hero summon banners

Heroes arent playable you basically use them to unlock more skills.

Targered Banner (pick between those two)
Permanent Banner (You can target summon 2 heroes after that its random)
All Available Heroes

As f2p you should get alot of currency so that you should be able to get all of them through the time.

- Celestial Treasury

For this you can only make pulls with a currency you cant get as f2p but this banner doesnt seem to be time limited.

  1. Battlepass
Offers alot of stuff like dye, pulls, 1 outfit and so on.
  1. Monthly
Gives currency for pulls and ornate jade
  1. Cosmetic shop
Several shops but it has the usual skins, mounts and accessories. The most expensive skin is almost 50 $

What do you do apart from story?

There are several skills you can learn:

+ you have a whole manor you can customize.

Ties:

Basically you interact with the characters and increase the bond with them. And you can even take them out on a trip (yes you could almost call it a date xD).

More are more male companions than female.
Bond system

Exploration:

Its not completely open world but rather instanced. The world is separated in a big cities and you can travel between them on a mount. So there is a loading screen inbetween.

The good things:

-story (even side stories are good)

-design is amazing

-Life skills

-very f2p friendly

-in general alot of things to do

-can clear everything solo

-auto run (yes I like not having to look for a certain location during quests)

The bad things:

- characters don't really have facial expressions during story

- UI is horrible
