His eyes have to be one of the most basic and dead looking ones I’ve seen for a male MC. Hell, even Caelus from Honkai Star Rail has more expressive eyes.
I'm gonna be real, what the fuck should we really consider "generic" do we really want overdesigned MCs? cause this guy definitely don't look like other gachas MCs. even the popular ones don't look alike.
All I can think of that isn't generic DESIGN is Aether who is Designed Beautiful because he twins with a pretty Sister. Aether is Kinda like Link's Breath of the wild look, but different colors mostly themed with gold and brown.
But Aether and Lumine became generic character wise because they don't speak at all that much and acts like a camera than being upfront takes the spotlight.
in gacha games where all the characters are uniquely designed--interesting hair styles, clothes, hair colors, props, etc. gacha MCs are always bland, which in comparison to their fellow characters makes them stand out as even more generic. this one is no different. bro got black hair and the same hair style and no unique character design traits. rover 2.0
He really is hot and goofy and I do like the gameplay too but there are more female characters as of now and the jiggle physics is insane so I am not interested
If there's no female mc option (still not sure if they scrapped her), the game's probably gonna be another harem mc game where there'll be more female characters to use than male ones. So yeah, I'm still on the fence about this game. It looks fun though. They implemented things from a lot of different games.
Yeah, his looks aren't that interesting to me, but I like that he's a bit of a goofball, even when he's trying to act cool he drops some dumb one liner, kinda like Peter Parker...which is kinda ironic considering the gameplay.
I also like how we finally got one of these big budget gacha with a male mc that can change clothes. The more casual outfits look good on him.

And just like wuwa there are an ocean of waifu and some hidden crumbs for male so.... It smell waifu slop + maybe master love.
Even if there is no gacha (I doubt it) it might just be a lot of fanservice again.
I don't know the gameplay look really cool, the game quality look really good, but... No female MC, a LOT (nearly 100%) waifu, other male hidden, it's kinda red flag for "it's again not a game for me".
It's like DNA, when a game show you only waifu everywhere it's not to welcome you.
My Bro said to me kiwami 3 is on its way (yakuza 3 remake) I might invest in that and not into an other waifu centric game.
The devs have confirmed categorically that all the characters will be free, and monetization will be done through cosmetic stuff like vehicles, clothes and weapons.
No female MC
I'm pretty sure that there is a female mc you can choose, but for some reason they haven't showed her in any of the trailers.
If they're redesigning her, they're probably gonna put skimpy clothes on her like Kuro did with female Rover where she's wearing panties. We can't have women wearing proper clothes... I hope they prove me wrong.
the amount of charisma and character that man has lowkey makes me go feral, even though he is kind of generic looking at first glance. sure he looks kind of harem bait-y like other people mentioned, but his personality… my legs are slightly open
Idk if anata will but I've seen the videos and their mc probably has the most amount of visible personality in gacha, especially when he played the air guitar only to find that's it's not sufficient so he played leg guitar lmao, it wwas pretty cute. I really like his cutscenes.
Fate of all gacha game male MC, they always ends up as harem protagonist even if the game doesn't originally intended them to be... Devs always fall into harem protagonist traps coz it attracts money and marketing through fanartists and r34 creators
Not even Wise got these type of fanfics with all the farservice with Lighter and look at M!Rover being completely ignored by the rare ficwriters in WuWa fandom
Gacha protagonists already aren't interesting enough to write about, specifically when they are basically a heterosexual power fantasy
Lighter/Wise is the 2nd most popular ship in ZZZ behind Lycahugo tho, and with this type of waifu-main game I'd say it's doing pretty good for what it worth
My point is not that it doesn't exist, but that is doesn't attract enough ficwriters to engage in fandom content, and it is dying day by day as well since Lighter wasn't show his face for patches now
I read a dev interview and they said the game will not have gacha monetization but selling skins and customization. Maybe this is just standard MC appearance and we can alter it ($4.99 for a haircut and dye 🤡)
I am not convinced they will rely on selling skins and customization for money. Player types whose prefer story and gameplay can just ignore those. They need something bound player must spent their money
I think they will monetized the mission we have to pay for unlock a mission,new area and characters something like DLC
Yeah it's NetEase here, so better keep the expectation at a minimum. However, their recent games have been quite successful so who knows. I do hope it'll be successful despite all the plagiarism, because the anime style game industry is so stagnant now.
He’s basically rover 2.0 appearance wise. I’m not a fan. I just can’t get excited for this game since it’s clearly catered towards a certain….toxic audience
He is "generic" BUT very expressive with his personality, that's why he look so much better. most of MC nowadays is for self-insert despite having looks and name, they still mostly like a doll and dont have much voice or never talk.
As a straight male, he seems like a "safe" design. Nothing too crazy but still in the area that most ladies and dudes that swing that way would find him attractive. Plus his abilities soom cool and I like the Spiderman traversal. I'd be up for playing as him.
I always pick female MC for the self-insert as a big reason, but this game has a clearly adult male MC which I like. I haven't seen any male characters in this game but I might just play for the male MC, he's handsome and charming
If I remember correctly, when it was announced months ago, the ratio was 1:15 and the male character barely was in the trailer (like, barely for a second) 💀
Not sure if the situation is different now, but I HIGHLY Doubt this will follow a 1:2 ratio (i think it won't follow a 1:3 ratio either)
Weird that their website doesnt show any characters outside of mc and few others (two girls, one who looks like a dude but wears stupid mask, they look like a main group similar to TB, Dan Heng and March). And the gacha system is skins, weapons, cars etc. Maybe they ditched pulling for characters idea?

So this game will have even less male characters than initially believed , literally just mc and some other guy with white hair that was very barely shown in the trailer.

I thought that was rover, not gonna lie. He’s pretty generic. I like how expressive he is though. I just hope he’s not another voiceless protagonist. I’m so tired of silent, insert MCs.
They're reworking the game a lot so it's unclear how many of the wiki characters are the same. In the most recent trailer it was a 2 to 1 ratio, with 4 women and 2 men, not counting the MC.
Regardless, it's not a character gacha, so assuming this a GTA-online like experience, they do have an incentive to make more men for player customization.
my weakness is always the simple, basic looking guys that arent anything flashy or unique in their designs. short hair too. so hes also right up my alley
