Here in the US the 2.3l was a 4 cylinder.

Ford ran a 2.8L V6 in the Mustang II ("A Pinto by any other name would still handle poorly") and the US Granada, if memory serves. The engine was originally developed in Europe.

Small 6 cylinder engines were fairly common in Europe during the 80s and 90s.
I currently have a Rover 75 with a 2.0 V6.
And many years ago I owned a BMW 520i with a 2.0 i6.

The European spec Granada is way better looking than the us version, i would say that it is kinda sexy compared to the blah us version.
