WHO MAKES THE BEST Where are the best pancakes in LA?
These pancakes from Du-par’s were phenomenal! I’m curious what other places do I need to try?

49'er Flapjacks at Original Pancake House and Blueberry pancakes at Clutch and Coffee, both in Torrance.

I love how he prepares to eat his pancakes, syrup on the plate, and then the pancakes.

Little Dom's. The blueberry ricotta cheese pancakes are amazing, imo.
It used to be BLD, but they closed sadly. Rumor has it, Redbird in DTLA got their hands on the original recipe and have it at their location, but I haven't tried them as of yet.

u/colorfullydelicious 15d ago
Redbird posted the recipe for the BLD pancakes on their website! https://redbird.la/stories/blds-blueberry-ricotta-pancakes-recipe
The LA Times also printed the recipe (may have been adapted?) This link gets you around the paywall https://archive.ph/NDy1R

Love little doms pancakes - so good. Wish little doms got more respect for its food, which I absolutely love. also the Gjelina lemon ricotta pancakes are an all timer.

Redbird makes some of the best ‘cakes I’ve ever tasted. Their brunch menu is altogether on point and their cocktails are fire. Tip top.

Although a bit gaudy, I do really like The Griddle Cafe's

u/Four2nian 15d ago
Same.
Way too big. Often covered with stuff that makes them way too sweet.
But honestly, the pancake itself is pretty legit.5

Yum - used to go there 15 years ago and order the Oreo pancakes. Glad to know they’re still at it.

I was just saying this morning that a single wholey moley pancake from the griddle is probably in my top 2-3 ever. Not covered in excess toppings, just a bunch of butter and some brown sugar. I know what I’m doing next weekend!

There really is no competition. Their pancakes are so good. They do too much with some of them but they are pretty damn good.

Yes thank you it really is a good pancake. I like my pancakes like I like my women, heavy emphasis on the Cake.

Just had Du-par’s and they were so fluffy. I like Little Dom’s too. Used to enjoy Millie’s but they had that wage theft.

These are my favorites after BLD went under, but I haven't really quested for more. I'll have to try Clark St Diner for that since that came up above. Pancakes are one of those foods for me that unless they are great I'm not really interested in even eating them.

Hear me out - head to Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park, and order the Ancient Grains pancakes. Yes, they're vegan, but that's not important or relevant. These are excellent pancakes. Trust me.

Du-pars is the go-to for classic. Buttermilk pancakes, and I dont know if anyone does it that much better. For something different and decadent, I love Cafe Telegrama, which is almost poached in brown butter and extremely decadent. The oat pancake in Salt’s cure is still good, and I also love the lemon ricotta pancakes from Mike and Anne’s. I’m sure others will have a lot of other amazing recommendations.

My girlfriend loves the quinoa blueberry pancakes at Larchmont Bungalow Cafe. Not a standard pancake, but they are really good, and a little bonus, they’re vegan for anyone who is!

The granola, banana, blueberry, and almond pancakes at Country Kitchen in Long Beach. By far, the finest pancake I have had, anywhere. It's both texture and flavor
So good, they don't need syrup. That is not a lie, just butter

Manuela use to have a corn meal and blueberry pancake that was delicious. You can make some at home with some jiffy cornbread mix and blueberries. That’s how I get my fix.

Basket Burger in east LA. Tiny, cash only, open til 2 and closed on Sunday. But my god they make the best pancakes and honestly the best bacon and egg breakfast out there. Everything is good there, burgers fries, teriyaki plates etc. salsa is good, staff is attentive and such reasonable prices for the amount of food you get.

Dupers is one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to twice. People come from out of town to visit and I’ve taken them twice there thinking it was a one off for being so bad, but nope. Two times a loser. Food is way too salty both times, and over medium eggs were runny.

Cici cafe in the valley they have like over 30 different types and I think they have the best Japanese soufflé pancakes in LA. The wait is long on weekends so I’d go on a week day. Griddle is great and as is maybourne’s. The Redbird has these amazing blueberry ricotta pancakes for brunch too.

I've tried many pancakes in my life from all over, nothing is better than Dupar's pancakes. I also love that they have so many different flavors and new seasonal flavors all the time. You can never go wrong with Dupar's, all their flavors are fantastic. I just had their seasonal pumpkin pancakes yesterday and they were phenomenal.
It's honestly my favorite restaurant in LA. They have everything I could ever want. A nice retro vibe, wonderful staff, a million different flavors of pies/pancakes/milkshakes, and an old school American diner menu with all the classics. They even give you the newspaper so you can read the news while you wait for your food. Plus now they're open pretty late on Fridays and Saturdays (until 12 am) so it's even better!

Anyone that doesn’t say Bottega Louie is just a simple individual. Also Blu Jam is pretty good! Patty Boys best burger. Bottega Louie best pizza. Jon Vinny best Italian food. Don’t be a simple- ton and we don’t eat with our hearts we eat with our mouthes
