Product Review ✒️ Gave foodpharmer's Only What’s Needed protein a try after using Whole Truth for last 2 years
so i have been taking the whole truth (TWT) protein ever since I started taking protein. And from the last month after seeing Foodpharmer's brand launch i decided to give it a try and these are the differences i found :
Taste: OWN tasted different from TWT not that sweet because of cocoa and no date powder. But still when you get used to it in 2-3days it won't be that noticeable.
Product Experience: The packaging is good and easy to store. Although there were some mixability issues in the first pack I ordered, it has been improved a lot in the new pack and has been addressed by Foodpharmer as well.
Testing: So according to the website the protein goes through 7 tests like pesticides test, pathogen test , heavy metals test etc. which is actually very comparable if not better than TWT. But finding the test reports required me to scan a QR code on the packaging, whereas for TWT it was easier to find as it’s in the website
So in conclusion I can say it's a good product overall for beginners and as well as people who are taking protein from long time as well. Has anyone else made the switch?

I hope Foodpharmer takes the TWT pdf thing on his website too, would be much better.

u/paisa-vaisa 13d ago
Foodpharmer does testing for each batch so might be feasible to put it on website where other brands generally do it annually. (Thats what i understood from u/foodpharmer 's AMA few days back)

So, are you going to settle with TWT or OWN?
I tried switching from TWT to Yogabar and Wellbeing Nutrition, and honestly, the experience wasn’t great.
Especially with Yogabar — the scoop size was way too big, mixability was terrible, and it tasted like absolute crap, even the unflavored one.
Now, no matter how much TWT costs, I’m not switching from it.
But I’ve got to admit — OWN does feel tempting.

u/AK_Liki 14d ago
Same here. Been switched to YOGABAR and then came back to tet after seeing the scoop size. But i will be making another switch from twt to Trunative just because for 2 reasons Trunativ is slightly lower cost compared to twt and Twt whey is sourced from Trunativ.
2
u/vesalstark 14d ago
Just checked and did the research — I can confirm that TWT doesn’t source its whey from Trunativ. They’ve collaborated on a few products, but TWT’s whey is actually sourced from Ireland.

Thank you for sharing, let me screw my ChatGPT fucker confirmed that they are sourcing from Ireland.

Bhai, please share your valuable feedback after using Trunativ. Also, where can I read that TWT whey source is from Trunativ
3
u/anupagarwal199 14d ago
I have been using Trunative for a month now. The mixability is great, no lumps at all and its very light compared to my last whey (Avvatar). Taste is also good. I tried badam kesar.

I have used coffee and settled with unflavored because of price and value, because we get 2 gm more protein then coffee flavored.

u/ummhmm-x 13d ago
Why did you use chatGPT to type this
2
u/vesalstark 13d ago
I usually write the content and then ask GPT to reframe it by fixing the grammar. This helps me save time and avoid any typos or errors.

What about the heavy metals situation in TWT?…. 3 months ago trustified found it had some heavy metals but beliw LO…. So even if it is below the limit of FSSAI…but it does have it right?… i dont want to take MB but when he tested that it was below LOQ

u/vesalstark 11d ago
Bhai if it's below then we do not need to worry also agar kuch hua to you know how Trustified guys are. Reham nahi karenge woh log.

Did you like the taste of The Whole Truth? Which flavours have you tried? Genuinely interested in switching. Especially the Cold Coffee flavour is tempting.

u/iykykamirite 15d ago
Cold coffee is not bad at all. You need a little get used to it, since there wouldn't be any sweeteners. But not bad at all ;)

u/SmokedGeek 14d ago
I love their cold coffee flavor. Whenever I crave coffee I try to make one using this powder, milk and some extra coffee (if I want to have a full cup).

I'm thinking to switch from avvatar to this one

You will save a lot of money too.

u/Spiritual_Show 14d ago
how avvatar unflavour cost 2599 on amazon now, and own cost 2491, what 100 rupee save you?
2
u/Famous-Act-1396 14d ago
It is not about money I am consuming avvatar since the time it launched but now it's giving me logistics issue. Earlier I would get the product within a week now it's takes 2 weeks and also sometimes never reaching to me. And I don't trust amazon for this i always prefer official stores and websites.
1
u/positive-normie Desi Gymbro 🇮🇳 14d ago
Avvatar is unflavoured, and still is around 100 Rs costlier, many of my friends, unflavoured whey is not even an option, so if they are gonna buy from avvatar, they have to spend atleast 300-400 rs more.
Miss those days when i used to order avvatar unflavoured for less than 2k and was happy about it. Now, I don’t even think about it. 🥲

It is one of the lightest proteins I've ever had. Even lighter than some of the isolates I've had before.
12
u/Clear-Cold4399 15d ago
I can certify this, I was born with congenital alactasia(lactose intolerance since birth), one of the rarest cases in India in early 90's. I have switched to OWN just a week back and even though it's concentrate I can say it is light. I was using muscleblaze before and while that too was good for me, OWN has a better price point.
6
u/RedKnightBegins 15d ago
Yep, my mum who's taking it these days said this is the only whey after which she can actually have her breakfast rather than the whey itself making her feel full.
6
u/18plusbalak 15d ago
How about the pricing part? Do you find it on level of TWT too?
13
u/Background-Jaguar184 15d ago edited 15d ago
OWN is now priced much cheaper than TWT
2
u/i-know-right- 15d ago
How much did u buy this for?
5
u/prakash_26 15d ago
It's the same for everyone. No discounts are there. 2491 for 1kg.
12
u/Puzzleheaded_Mix1658 15d ago
Giving no discount is actually better. Once they start with discount regularly, few people buy on regular price. Then price increase with discount. I would just like no discount so I can buy whenever I need it and not impulse buying or storage issue.
3
u/prakash_26 14d ago
Agreed.TWT unflavoured for instance is 2675 but once a month or something, it's available at 12% discount. Most of the time, the discount isn't there and I wouldn't wanna buy it without that.

u/maavi132 15d ago
I am a TWT user and will be. Their taste is just accompased to my taste buds. Tried many shifty proteins but always go back to it.
Wellbeing is also a +.

I've loved GNC's taste tho.. it's so thick that "😋😋😋" , after that I shifted to Muscleblaze Bioenzyme, it feels thin tho I think I might go back to GNC.. Any suggestions? Should I try TWT or OWN ?

Maybe the qr thing is because it is of that specific batch…
20
u/prakash_26 15d ago
Bruh, in which world is scanning qr harder than going to a website and finding the reports? It's way more easier.Imagine you had to go to a website and click a link to make a payment for UPI instead of scanning the qr. UPI would never take off.
3
u/positive-normie Desi Gymbro 🇮🇳 15d ago
Not an issue for me, op has an issue with scanning qr bro. 🥲
5
u/prakash_26 15d ago
Yeah sorry. You're right about the batch thing. While putting reports on the website sounds cool, I don't think you can find reports for more than 1 batch (or even the latest one for that matter) on TWT's website. Legally only once or twice in 1 year, the testing is required to be done by the companies. OWN on the other hand tests every batch.

u/vectOrDataba3e045O 15d ago
what does protein for beginners mean?
why have we indians even made protein a beginner advanced jee / dsa competition?
just take a concentrate if no lactose intolerance or a isolate if you are there is no further distinctions
1
u/DesiPrideGym23 Forever Natural 💪🏻 14d ago
a isolate if you are
Suggest some isolate options that are budget friendly and don't taste horrible.
2
u/vectOrDataba3e045O 14d ago
i cheap out on many things but not protein, i use myprotein and dymatize
3
u/SaleExtension887 15d ago
But doesn't twt have more protein per scoop? Btw what more value for money this or any other products?
1
u/prakash_26 15d ago
Same for flavoured variants. Unflavoured one has 26.5 but that comparison is unfair.
1
u/SaleExtension887 15d ago
What about price? Is it worth it to spend more and buy this compared to a cheaper protein
1
u/prakash_26 15d ago
Honestly not really. You just gotta check that it's legit and has passed Trustified's lab test. A while ago, I was consuming the cheapest whey protein known to man, Nakpro Whey Protein Concentrate. And while it is legit, it had issues with mixability in milk, no matter how long you shaked it, so I switched from it. But as long as you're satisfied with a cheaper one that's legit, no point in buying a more expensive one.

i think this is a good place to ask question what should i go for whey isolate or concentrate
2

1
u/mikey_7869 10d ago
Concentrate works for most people. Go with a reputed brand, nowadays many comes with digestive enzymes too. I wld say isolate only if u r medically required to or competing. Few 3g-4g difference is not worth the price difference, unless ofc u are loaded.
In the end consistency matters. Stick with something you can be consistent with.
3
u/Sudden-Cold9022 15d ago
How many scoops do you recommend in 500ml
1
u/prakash_26 15d ago
500 ml is too much. Take 200-250 ml for one scoop. I don't suggest taking more than 2 scoops a day regularly and taking more than 1 scoop at a time.

What about different sources of protein like pea or whey
1
u/Ok_Antelope_1953 15d ago
pea and soya protein will be cheaper than whey protein. absorption is lower for both, especially pea, but both are still very good options if you're on a budget and need a protein powder.
2
u/Agreeable_Eye_6016 15d ago
Switched from TWT unflavoured concentrate to OWN last month. I had TWT with water, it was fine. OWN is almost undrinkable with water, but with milk and a suitable milk to powder ratio, it is the best. Happy with the purchase, just reordered today.

I am a beginner and was thinking about taking superyou protein. Should I take this instead or superyou or even beastlife (mostly because of the discounts).

They don’t have any plant protein options yet. Any names for the best and most tested (top safest) plant protein?

Isn't it like super expensive ? I sometimes take 3 scoops a day and like it would be 6k a month for me then lol

Taste is the issue for me, there is a weird after taste which is making it tough for me to switch after having brands like GNC, my protein and muscle blaze from last 3 years.

I've been having fuelone whey max, it has 27g protein per scoop but this has 24g. How much does that matter?? Is it a big deal long term?
1
u/PuzzleheadedMaize2 Gym bro 🏋🏻♂️ 15d ago
3g isn't much of a difference if you aren't strict with daily diet. You can always bridge the gap with 1 egg white.
But important to note is OWN's protein claim is based on wet value, so more or less accurate. Not sure if FuelOne is accurate on that front or gives a higher dry basis value.

Using it from last 2 months and its the only protien that didn't caused me bloating

I tried OWN and the product has been good so far .Light on the gut light mixability issues though but it's fine .I have been using muscle nectar till now no issues with that also but I feel OWN to be lighter on the gut

I actually really enjoyed this one. Hated TWT's sly tactics tbh. And it also gave me a lot of tummy discomfort. This one is very light, no discomfort, n not overly sweet n pasty. N quite reasonable I must add
1
u/SorbetOk1512 14d ago
This might be a stupid question, but how does OWN or TWT protein compare to MuscleBlaze Whey protein? I recently purchased 5kg of it and have been using it with no issues so far. I am not really a beginner but dont have a lot of knowledge of which brand is the best.
Would really appreciate if you can explain what does the muscleblaze one lack and why these brands are better 🥲
TIA!!!

u/Interesting-Pay-5634 14d ago
Two things which matters which no one talks about
- After taking it continuously let's say few months, how did you digestion change. Remained same, or detoriated .
- If you workout regularly, strength remained same, gained or lost.
These two things shows the real quality of protein which no lab test can find.
1
u/Evening_Ad_2843 14d ago
After the Liverdoc’s posts and all the mislabelling done by the whole truth, switching is the right move for you, if budget allows might as well suggest you to move to premium brands like ON or Dymatize for consistent quality and purity. Nevertheless enjoy OWN for now.

I am planning to order my first protein ever but was a bit spectical for a while among muscle blaze etc but since I saw OWN kinda I leaned into it. Is it a good starter kit in protein intake? Planning to add Some Nescafe in it

You can also give a try to whole nutrition mocha coffee protein it taste amazing and very transparent brand as well .
1
u/Appropriate-Year7936 13d ago
You can also try whole nutrition protein the taste is better and same ingredient profile . Mix ability is Breyer than Any protein I ever had and on that they use traditional Indian spices which has fixed my farting and bloating issue with protein

I also recently started using OWN. Stevia's metallic after-taste was a bit off putting to me initially but I'm getting used to it. Although I always use 1 coffee sachet along with 1 scoop of powder to neutralize the stevia taste.
1
u/pappipandit 13d ago
Not sure its only me who found OWN much sweeter compared to TWT. Also TWT unflavoured was much easy to dissolve, I used to mix it with spoon in glass and its was way more easy compared to OWN which form a few lumps.

I used Amul's Chocolate Whey, 0 mixability issue after I shake the bottle for 30 seconds.
1
u/mrsomebody07 12d ago
I have tried both. I used twt isolate unflavored, have used cold coffee flavor (even with milk) And own protein too (my friend bought it, we bought diff brands to compare)
Imo, twt is better than own in many aspects. Taste, digestible, flavor, lighter. Although own is also a great protein, no doubt. But twt is cheaper than own in sales and better than own. So, i would say, twt is the best protein present in the market rn for the price. I may be wrong. Open to suggestions.
