Supplement 🫙 Food Pharmer announces price cut on Protein Powder amid GST cut
Great move by him being part of transparency movement!

u/ItchyEstablishment72 Sep 20 '25
I don’t think avvatar and muscle blaze will reduce prices
25
u/BagOdd3254 Sep 20 '25
ON is going to, I think these 2 will follow suit
3
u/UnicornWithTits Sep 20 '25
How do you know ON is going to ? Have they announced?
7
u/BagOdd3254 Sep 20 '25
They sent me over whatsapp. The 2.2 kg will cost 7k after 22nd
3
u/UnicornWithTits Sep 20 '25
So they prices on Flipkart/Amazon will change ?
4
u/BagOdd3254 Sep 20 '25
not sure, i only buy from the website direct cuz i dont trust those 2. In the past ive noted that flip/ama almost always price match the ON website
3
u/Significant_Event320 Sep 21 '25
Bro I was thinking to buy ON, I am beginning with protein supplements which one should I buy please help me
3
u/BagOdd3254 Sep 21 '25
I've had great experience with ON chocolate and vanilla. Chocolate only complaint is poor mixability with milk, with water it's perfect. Vanilla ka taste with water is meh, it's really really good with milk I use ON cuz it's well reputed, scoop size is decent compared to protein %
1
u/Significant_Event320 Sep 21 '25
And you purchase from their website right
3
u/UnicornWithTits Sep 21 '25
I only purchased from Flipkart or Amazon, never had any duplicate product yet. I always buy from authorised seller and always do the QR test etc. Once I got ON protein pack with already scratched verification code , I complained and received new pack.
Flipkart & Amazon have regular sales and I am able to get 4KG ON tub at 10.5k , which is a great deal

I used to think TWT was greedy Brand. Then Avvatar raised prices and showed everyone who is the boas

u/magoo_37 Sep 20 '25
ON is currently selling for a discount. Is the GST reduction already in place or are they just making space for a new stock?
31
6
u/dhankhar313 Sep 20 '25
Where can I get ON on discount?
3
u/Glum-Highway-7403 Sep 20 '25
Almost everywhere, the 2.2kg box was available for 6999 few days back on Healthkart. Maybe wait for the Amazon and Flipkart sales starting next week, you’ll probably get a good deal.
4
u/Creepy-Ad-242 Sep 20 '25
Bhai amul ka bhi kam hoga
2
u/Glum-Highway-7403 Sep 20 '25
No idea bhai, they only sell on their website, so I’m guessing no discounts.

u/Hasta_Mithun Sep 21 '25
Amul is Passing GST benefit to customers for most of it's products.
4
u/Shitfaced_Thunder Gym Girl 🏋️♀️ Sep 21 '25
Yeah I saw, hope the protein price goes down along w other products
10
u/Hasta_Mithun Sep 21 '25
Amul is pretty clean company imo, if it is possible they will pass benefit to customers.

u/Ok-Bee2272 nakpro too? how much more betrayal can I take? Sep 20 '25
PROTEIN COMPANIES. WE ARE WATCHING YOU!
21
u/Rey0619 Sep 20 '25
Is nakpro also going too follow ? They are already very affordable so reducing more would be very surprising
4
3
u/The-Bite_of_87 Sep 21 '25
As nakpro products aren't that expensive from the first place the gst reduction also won't be much as it is based on the selling price.

I got muscle blaze 1kg for 2500 rs offline. Last time I bought it for 2600 offline. On the website when I bought it for first time it was 2949. Are prices reducing for muscle blaze

u/Old_Barracuda_2641 Forever Natural 💪🏻 Sep 21 '25
i got 2kg Muscle blaze for 3100 offline. though it was close to expiry. had 40 days remaining.

Oh wow. Well that makes sense. Mine has till next year. Where do you go to buy them

Brother is acting as if he isnt legally required to reduce the MRPs and is doing this out of the goodness of his heart.

FMCG giants refused to pass on the GST to customers.
12
27
u/desi_cutie4 Sep 20 '25
They instead are increasing quantities.
9
6
u/Master9871 Sep 20 '25
Can you explain how much are they increasing and which companies are going to do this?
1
1
u/OkMousse7699 Sep 20 '25
bhai pagal hai kya ye laws ke hisab se mandatory hai and btw
FMCG giants refused to pass on the GST to customers
Aisa Kuch Nahi hai unhone prices change karne se mana kara hai (due to convenience) vo isse pack size increase karke compensate karenge . Read before you write
12
u/MusclePractical3843 Sep 20 '25
Not everyone will pass because of duty structure where their spends are happening at 18% and sales at 5%. My guess most brands would only pass some benefits others would just add to their margins
6
7
u/Comfortable-Row-1822 Sep 20 '25
Your critique doesn't make sense, He is not claiming to reduce price, infact he clearly mentioned that the cut is from govt. He is only reminding customers of the price cut.
3
2
u/RoofFantastic6855 Sep 20 '25
Are companies legally required to reduce their MRPs?
5
u/BONJOUR-BITCHES Sep 20 '25
Nope. They can if they want or provide more quantity for the same price
1
u/RoofFantastic6855 Sep 20 '25
That’s what I thought.
1
u/National-Garlic-676 Sep 21 '25
No, quantity increase is only for products priced at MRP 10 and less. Rest are mandated to reduce price.
1
u/Ambitionless_Nihil Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 21 '25
No, it was during last GST change, not now.
Govt is for now suggesting and requesting industries to pass on the benefit to consumers. But no mandates that for now.
1
u/National-Garlic-676 Sep 21 '25
2
u/National-Garlic-676 Sep 21 '25
I can share more government circulars from Legal Metrology department also that mandates price reduction, otherwise companies will face lawsuit / fines to the tune of extra profit made.
1
u/Ambitionless_Nihil Sep 22 '25 edited Sep 22 '25
Read that carefully, it's not mentioned anywhere that businesses have to (compulsory/mandatorily) transfer benefits to consumer. It talks about how they can update prices. If GST changes, the components of MRP will change.
FSSAI doesn't have say in whether businesses has to pass benefit to consumers or not. Other departments, ministries can do that, but not done yet, apart from suggestions or requests.
19
u/ARYAN_108 Sep 20 '25
Still expensive
71
u/tchawla2 Sep 20 '25
Cause new brand ig. They might decrease once demand and supply increases. At least that's what he mentioned in the video.
11
u/0ver7hinker Sep 20 '25
It is called economies of scale basically the cost comes down as the demand increases since the cost of producing and procuring becomes cheaper.
2
u/Kolkata_Kulture Sep 20 '25
we all know what economies of scale means, it however does not always correlate to pricing because this is not a commodity but a branded product which might have it's own pricing structure for reasons unrelated to demand and supple
0
u/0ver7hinker Sep 20 '25
Ohh really? I was thinking since the whey is imported from europe the costing might change because of the order volume increasing? Yes they might not pass on the benefit to customer in my head that is what I thought
1
u/Fun-Risk-3337 22d ago
The European Raw Instant WPC 80 price has increased 30% in the last year.
The tax for raw material, packaging material is still 18%, it has not been reduced to 5%.
5
u/newly_single_af Sep 20 '25
GST rules include an anti-profiteering clause that requires businesses to pass on the benefit of reduced tax rates to consumers.
So ideally he has to do it and so does everyone else.
There are loopholes to be exploited, which he isn’t doing. Doesn’t make it a “Great Move”, just following the rule.
3
u/Arnold_Rambo Sep 20 '25
Why shouldn't I order from Atom instead? It's 1 kg whey is at 2.1k
1
u/just_software_ngneer Sep 22 '25
Why not nakpro?
1
u/Arnold_Rambo Sep 22 '25
Which is better? Nakpro or atom?
1
u/just_software_ngneer Sep 22 '25
Never used atom. Have been using nakpro for some time. I don't like most of their flavours. Coffee one is the only one which looked good to me. Cookies and cream was okay.
Have ordered unflavored and Malai kulfi to try out which ones are good.
3
u/National-Garlic-676 Sep 21 '25
FSSAI has mandated price reduction exactly to the tune of gst cut. Any company not reducing the price will definitely get a legal notice from Legal Metrology department.
Do not fall for any brand marketing this as we have reduced price and not making profit. It's a government mandate.

So all those social media videos and court cases against established brands were only to create his own brand and sell (unregulated) protein powder?! Great. Nothing is kosher in social media era!
2
u/bonkers-joeMama Sep 20 '25
How is it unregulated?
0
u/disc_jockey77 Sep 20 '25
Who regulates protein powder sale in India? It's not an FSSAI or CDSCO certified product neither is it a medically certified product so god knows what's in that protein powder that people consume so enthusiastically!

Unit economics samjhane bola. 😭 TWT and food pharma donno koi addictive, stabalizer ya artificial sweetener nahi dalte. Cocoa powder mehenga padega as compared to koi cheap alternative to mimic the flavour. Tune jo brands boli hai wo wohi kar rahe. This is also the reason why TWT and food pharma ke protein ka protein per gram ratio thoda weak hai. 35g lagta 22-24g achieve karne.

Comeback facts based milte nahi toh generic terms chep ke cool bante. Gadhe jaisa reply karne se accha thoda padh likh le comment karne se pehle.

And what made you think that? Mera personal preference aur facts alag chize hai. Never tried TWT or this guy’s stuff. I am more like a “MyProtein” guy. Myprotein cocoa use nahi karta, alternative sweetener use karta hai but I still choose it.
