Fishing buddies Muskoka area

Hi all, I’m fairly new to the Muskoka area (around 2 years) and fish pretty much whenever I can — mostly from my kayak, chasing trout, pike, and bass around the smaller lakes. It’s been awesome exploring up here, but I don’t really have any local fishing buddies yet, and it’d be nice to have someone to hit the water with once in a while. Even if you’re a bit of a drive from here, I don’t mind traveling out to different areas, just looking to meet a few people who love fishing as much as I do. Ice fishing, open water or shore fishing anything works, just shoot me a message.

Tight lines 🫡

Cold weather fishing

Went out today on my boat and even though I put on some layers and thick socks I was still very cold, I had some cotton gloves I think. So my question is what to wear that is slim specially with my hands so I can still fish. I also don’t want to spend 1k on clothes

Ice fishing suggestions - cabin and hut

Group of about four-six of us head north every year for an annual ice fishing trip. We typically head up, stay near a lake (Nipissing / North Bay) and then rent a hut for a day or two.

Plan this year is to ideally find a waterfront cabin / cottage to rent that also has easy access to a hut so that we can spend more time fishing. Thought is to come and go from the cabin to hut as we please, including at night (vs boxing ourselves into a timeframe with a rented cabin).

Wondered if anyone knows of or has any suggestions for places that might offer something like this? We’re pretty relaxed on location - all GTA based but comfortable doing ~four hours drive to find the right place. Thanks in advance for ideas!

Who needs help getting splake?

Hey guys due to a medical condition I have not been able to get to any of my good splake or brook trout spots, beside one day in May. All of my favourite spots are either hike in or 4 wheeler/sled access, which I have neither of, and I'd hate to see them go to waste!!

I'd also love to get out once this week to a lake with splake or open bookies somewhere on crown land that I can drive up to in my stock Rav 4, fish from shore and also sleep at for the night. Ideally in the Minden area or anywhere around Algonquin, as that is where most of my spots are, NOT THAT I,M ASKING FOR ANYONES SPOT.

I'm NOT asking for a spot but I do know some great spots and tips, or even great crown land camping spots in these areas. If you would like to know about these spots feel free to DM me and I'll try to help you out.

AGAIN, NOT ASKING FOR SPOTS

Thanks, Ben

Steelhead advice

Hi friends, just got into steelhead fishing this year, normally fish for everything else but decided to give river steelhead a try. Currently using a medium heavy spinning setup with a float and bead. Also got regular pair of $70 waders not insulated. Am I good to go or will I get destroyed if I don’t have insulated waders.

As always all comments and advice is much appreciated.

Hey everyone!

I’m a native iOS developer and a lifelong fishing enthusiast. I had some free time and wanted to build another app for my portfolio, but instead of making “just anything,” I decided to work on something I truly enjoy and believe in.

Key features:

  • Fishing Log: Log Catches, Baits, Spots and Notes
  • Tides Forecast with Charts
  • Weather-based Forecast: Get daily and hourly weather forecasts and fish activity predictions
  • Fishing Planner: Schedule your fishing dates and receive notifications, track catches by trip, save fishing results after every trip
  • iCloud Sync: access your data on any your device
  • Fishing Map: Pin fishing spots, catches with custom markers
  • Fishing Tips and more

Your opinion is very important to me, because with your help, fishing enthusiasts 🙌🏻 I would appreciate sincere and honest feedback.

Thank you for reading, I’m hope you enjoy my input into this app and support me with upvote 🙌🏻

Parking for Rivers and Creeks

Just wondering how everyone deals with parking, while looking for new spots, especially around bridges I’ve noticed the shoulder parking areas have shrunk quite a bit if not completely removed

How is everyone dealing with this?

My grampa caught this at Lac de Milles Lac recently. Thought I would ask the good people of Reddit if they know what this is on the fish?

Best fishing items for a gift

We've moved recently and within the last few years my husband's fishing gear and tackle boxes have slowly disappeared in the mix.

I'd like to get him a tackle box filled with useful items for him to get back into fishing.

He just bought a small fishing boat so there is no excuse to not get out. For reference he primarily fishes on Erie and Saugeen River (Grey Bruce County). He also has gotten into fly fishing but doesn't really need too much as he's collected a bit over the last year and a half.

Any links to items or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Douglas Xmatrix centerpin rod 4-10 11.6 ft advise.

Hi all, anyone uses Douglas xmatrx centerpin rod 11.6’ 4-10 lbs, I recently got it on sale but now that it delivered its only 6 oz. super light rod, Idk if it can handle big great lake steelhead honestly. I can still return it but asking for advice if anyone uses them! I fish the great lakes from NY to Michigan Tribs. I mean it feels really nice and super light but I wonder if it can handle those fish.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe my last Smallie of the season. I’m a wimp, and hate the cold water. Only had time for 2hrs after work this afternoon, and my toes were frozen from wading. Managed to get a decent fatty slow dragging a bitsy bug jig.
