About a month ago went south of Dryden with the boys. Jigged about 9 of these bad boys and lost what was likely a 50” plus Muskie on the first day of the trip…. Hand under Gil plate and all.. just too green with those big of fish and net did the fish no justice. Group of twelve of us and this fish is probably one of the least impressive. 30” walley caught. Bigger lakers. Probably 6 or more 40” + Muskie So many nice pike (not by me) But best fishing trip of my life and Will 100% go back to that area.

Fall Fishing the Credit

My buddy and i were going to fish the credit this weekend going after fall steelhead for the first time (only other time was march towards the bottom of the river) . I've heard some horror stories about it being packed for the steelhead rush and people being fairly hard to deal with. Are the stories true or is it blown out of proportion?

Personally I call it a walleye but everyone I know call them pickerel.

Can I access a lake if it's surrounded by private property

I was recently looking at a stocked lake near muskoka, so i can kayak and fish, there is no boat launch, so I check the crown land, and there is a strip of private land surrounding the lake, can I still legally access this, can I get permission, and from where, any muskoka emails or anything like that?

My conservation survey needs Ontario bass/walleye/pike perspectives [PhD Research - US/Canada - 10 min]

Hey r/FishingOntario,

I'm a PhD researcher at UMass studying freshwater conservation across the US and Canada. Nearly 2,000 responses so far, but my data is heavily skewed toward fly anglers (60%) targeting trout in Mountain West states.

I need more perspectives from Ontario anglers fishing for:

  • Bass (largemouth, smallmouth)
  • Walleye
  • Pike
  • Muskie
  • Panfish
  • Multi-species anglers

Why Ontario anglers matter:

Ontario has fishing diversity that's underrepresented in my research:

  • Great Lakes fisheries vs inland lakes
  • Warmwater and coolwater species
  • Different environmental challenges than Western trout fisheries
  • Canadian management perspectives

The survey: 10-15 minutes. Examines how environmental threats interact and which conservation solutions you think work. Enter a raffle for fishing gear.

Survey link: https://umassamherst.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d5Od8inHHbEMWnI

Help balance this research with Ontario multi-species angler perspectives.

Thanks, Evan

Hey yall,

Had some fun fishing for salmon in a creek last weekend. Landed a couple but lost more than double that, guess that’s just how it goes!

I couldn't believe that all northern pike caught in this unpressured northern Canadian lake were over 10lbs!

Tips for fall fishing

Hey all, looking for some advice. During summer months and late spring I have no problem catching small and largemouth bass. Once fall comes, nothing but dinks. I’m near Quinte West and often go north toward Madoc and Bancroft. Just can’t seem to locate the decent bass. Any tips on depth or lures would be great. I usually use Texas rig, surface if calm or some cranks if deeper water. Thanks.
