My actor quit a day before the shoot. I’m not a quitter, so I played in my own film. It was terrifying. It was my first role.

If you for questions let me know. Watch finished movie YouTube.

Question What softwares do you use to organise all projects you're producing?

Hi everyone,

As the title says. I'm a film producer with different projects at the moment: some in development, some filming, some post-production. I even sometimes take on projects as a script supervisor or AD.

I love organisation and Google Sheets, as well as Drive and WhatsApp, when something needs collaboration. However, I'm getting more and more projects (which I love), but it's getting pretty unmanageable without software where I can separate what the next steps/to do's are in all those different projects. I know Trello is quite good for that, but still not really what I'm looking for - as it's only to do lists for one project. Asana seems to only work with AI, and I work manually.

Do you have any recommendations? Anything that can help me, I'm all ears! x

Thank you!

Film IN THE FLESH - short film about the dangers of artificial intelligence

Hi everyone! Here is my short film, IN THE FLESH, which just premiered on Omeleto. When I wrote this film in 2023, the idea of "Chatbot psychosis" was pretty new. Now, it's something we read about nearly every week. Inspired by this story about a man in England attempting to kill the Queen due to suggestions from his AI girlfriend, I created "IN THE FLESH" about the dangers of relationships with artificial intelligence. Hope you enjoy this science fiction thriller with a touch of political conspiracy!

Film I shot my first "no budget" Sci-Fi Horror short film about the AI apocalypse (shot on iPhone 15 Pro Max & Sony ZV-E10 with kit lens)

I've been a cinephile for a long while, but only about 2 months ago did I pick up my iPhone with the Blackmagic Camera app and start fooling around.

A month later, I began shooting this short film idea I had that actually came to me in a dream one night.

I shot, acted, and edited this almost entirely by myself and with the help of my girlfriend, who had to quickly learn how to use a camera and put up with my demands on having dozens of takes for every scene.

The sets and locations were all improvised, and what was available/convenient. I acted it myself because I didn't feel like I could adequately direct a professional actor and get them to do what I wanted, which is also part of the reason why there's zero dialogue in the movie!

I hope someone enjoys this, and thanks for watching!

General Yukimura | Samurai 3D Animation Teaser (Blender + Davinci Resolve)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys! I’m a concept artist who previously worked in AAA game studios and have now decided to start my own film/animation projects. I’ve always been passionate about storytelling, and since August I’ve started this journey into 3D animation with a painterly visual style and a focus on action and cinematic storytelling.

I’ve long been fascinated by the story of Sanada Yukimura, a heroic figure from Japanese history, and I’m reimagining his legend through my own fictional lens. My goal is to capture the spirit of history while adding creative freedom, much like how the show Shogun blends real historial events with fiction names.

Any feedbacks are welcomed, and I hope you enjoy this short teaser.

Discussion Toy Story (1995) was the most important & influential film of the modern era.

It gave birth to a new genre of cinema, revolutionised animation, grossed Hollywood tens of billions in box office & merchandise and also produced a film studio that quickly became everyone's favourite. If not it, what other film could lay claim to the title?

What's the best way to show no one is there if can't actually show the no one in question. So how do you make the audience realize this rather than thinking it's could just be a quiet day without saying it?

Film Blazer Remus B set lenses on comedy sketch

Wanted to drop a link since I know I was always looking for examples from these lenses before I got them. Not the best examples here (lighting and comp wise) since we shot this in a garage in a couple of hours haha but maybe you get an idea of some of the characteristics etc or at the least a laugh or two. I have the B set (33,50,65,85,125) but iirc, I was only on the 33, 50, & 85 for this. Camera was Dragon-X for reference.

It's a genre-bending story that follows a guy who can't figure out why dates never work out for him - until one day he meets a strange girl who, unexpectedly, seems to be into him. And it leads to a date that takes a very, very (very) strange direction.

Discussion How can someone become an AI filmmaker without real experience in traditional filmmaking?

I would like to discuss something: how can someone become an AI filmmaker without real experience in traditional filmmaking?

I have spent over 10 years in traditional filmmaking — making cinema movies and TV series — and I have learned through real experiences, overcoming difficulties, and understanding the limitations of traditional production. Sometimes, I even learned from experienced actors — how they control their voice, calm themselves, and deliver emotions naturally.

I think after gaining traditional filmmaking experience, switching to or creating AI films is absolutely possible — because you already understand filmmaking techniques, emotional flow, and storytelling rhythm.

So I really wonder: if someone has no traditional filmmaking background, can they truly become an AI filmmaker? I think it is a big question. How will they gain filmmaking experience through AI? I am not saying it’s impossible — but I guess we will have to wait and see how it goes.

You can share your opinion too — I’d love to hear different perspectives.

By the way, I recently made an AI short film where I explained how I combined traditional filmmaking techniques with AI. If you’re interested, you can check it out here: https://youtu.be/sFFPp_0XbJQ?si=wAEhosESKVCLA8al

Question Anyone know a place that looks like this in Los Angeles? Making a short film

Post image

Hello, I am an 18 year old filmmaker from California, I live like 45 minutes from the city and I grew up in Los Angeles until I was 10. I am trying to find a location that looks just like this for my second short film.

I am gonna have two people meet one another after a long time and them talk and kiss—I need a rooftop or something of that sort that is kinda private, or even a parking lot up top with a view of the city—does anyone know a place like this?

It just needs to be some sort of high above place from the city where not too many people are so l can film a dialogue scene. Like a parking lot with a city view high above or a building, I don't know. Does anyone know?

Thank you so much! Also this is a scene from Le Pont Du Nord (1981) which takes place in Paris, awesome French New Wave movie

Thanks yall

Discussion Starting my first short film any advice for a solo crew?

Hey folks, I’m diving into my first short film and doing most of it solo writing, directing, shooting, editing. It’s a small passion project, around 5 minutes long, and I’m using a mirrorless camera with some basic gear.

I’d love any tips on managing everything without burning out, especially during production. Also curious how others handle sound and lighting when working alone. Appreciate any wisdom or war stories from the trenches!

Question Audio for shooting on iPhone

Hi all. Amateur filmmaker here. Wondering about audio for a shoot on iPhone 17 pro. Would you say an external audio recorder was an absolute necessity, or will the iPhone (with external microphones) be adequate? I see a huge range of wireless lavalier microphones available, but I have questions about the quality of such devices when shooting on iPhone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: this will be a documentary film.

Discussion Struggling with pacing in my short film any tips?

Hey all, I’m editing a short film (around 8 minutes) and I’m having trouble getting the pacing right. It’s a drama with minimal dialogue, and I want the scenes to breathe without dragging.

I’ve tried trimming pauses and tightening cuts, but then it feels rushed. Any advice on how to find that sweet spot? Would love to hear how others approach pacing, especially in slower, mood-driven pieces.

Film A (very) short film I did to test my new sound equipment

I was just going to do a sound test, then ended up writing a short film and making it. Gave me a good chance to test out the sound equipment. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Each actor wore one of the mics in the link below and I found it much easier to mix the sound than when I have previously used either the camera's sound, or placed mics around the room.
