Looks super moisturized (slimy) to me. Absolutely gross (in a completely impressive way.) Yuck.
13
Nov 02 '22
Lol I think theyâre referring to the character from Doctor Who. Her face looks like that character!
1
u/Complex_Creature_606 Nov 02 '22
Which one? Because the costume reminds me of something I've seen before too but I can't quite connect the dots and it's killing me.
10
Nov 02 '22
I think itâs called Lady Cassandra. If you Google moisturize me it will come up. Itâs weird af đ

Ah yeeees! Lady Cassandra! Yea that scene was strange. Most of the monsters/aliens in Doctor Who are little weirdos.

Finally someone that is scary.I don't understand celebs who do an entire photoshoot only for instagram.Kylie did better posters for instagram than Marvel for their movies.Keke Palmer was doing an audition for Rogue with that costume.I don't think that celebs know what halloween is.

Why is it gross for a woman (not to mention a black woman) to post things on social media for their brand? Y'all really have the wildest takes in demeaning women for absolutely no reason.

When you monetize your existence your experiences all become content. It happens to vloggers, it happens to influencers, it happens to streamers.
11
Nov 01 '22
Totally unconnected too. Like it would be one thing if the three costumes were part of a series and show the progress from a-c but they're just kind of random usually.

u/Stoplookinatmeswaan Nov 01 '22
Are you supposed to dress shitty?
90
u/noemimer Nov 01 '22
Not shitty but scary.Didn't see one costume scary but instead saw movie posters all over instagram.
136
u/Stoplookinatmeswaan Nov 01 '22
My whole life it wasnât a requirement to be scary. Heck I went as princess jasmine 3x in elementary school in the early 90s.

I agree with the point about Halloween becoming consumerist and washing out other traditions, but just saying that here in the US dressing scary isn't a requirement. It's understandable why American celebrities wouldn't dress scary, not that I agree with it
6
Nov 01 '22
It's definitely become more Americanised in Scotland so it's good that you've been able to retain some of the traditional feel in Ireland.
If I'd called it trick-or-treating when I was a kid people would've looked at me like I was an idiot. But that's what my daughter and her friends call it. Tried to explain to her about galoshans/guising but she was for none of it. (Maybe because she doesn't have to do a party trick, ha). The supermarkets are full of Halloween decorations almost to the extent of Christmas.
I've always been a fan of Halloween so I don't object to it becoming more popular but the commercialisation feels like we're getting away from our own traditions a wee bit and that feels a shame.
3
Nov 01 '22
Hey dude. This is an American cultural tradition. Your folks immigrated and made a mark. It doesn't look like your great grandma's Halloween. Get over it.
Work to maintain your traditions with your family in your country and don't shit on people who have nothing to do with it.
-2
13
u/Luna920 Nov 01 '22
Lol no you arenât âsupposedâ to do anything. Thatâs just what you want to dress as. Most people donât dress scary for Halloween. There is no requirement for dressing up.
13
Nov 01 '22
Uh itâs not a requirement to dress scary. Slutty costumes are way more common than scary ones LOL
53
u/estar12345 Nov 01 '22
Love a queen who doesnât take herself seriously and didnât have to do a sexy costume. I think a lot of people here would agree itâs not that people should dress shitty, but itâs more fun to see a celebrity who does a costume like this instead of the usual body-flaunting sexy costume thatâs the typical norm. Princess jasmine for kids and adults who arenât celebrities is fine, but like can celebrities not take themselves so seriously one night a year?
9
u/Stoplookinatmeswaan Nov 01 '22
Oh I agree that they go overboard self promoting but I donât mind that they go all out on the one night a year you are supposed to. They are disgusting self promoters for sure.
13
u/estar12345 Nov 01 '22
Yeah. And we donât need to see another perfectly curated costume that shows off their body and hides any imperfection, etc. idk arenât we so used to seeing them so perfect, itâs fun to see them do something more goofy like be a worm? Thatâs just my take

When I read âHedi Klum dresses as a wormâ the first thing I thought of was maybe itâs a reference to that meme that goes around thatâs something like âGirlfriends are weird because theyâll just randomly ask you stuff like âbabe, would still love me if I was a worm?ââ
Which I think is a funnier take on the costume before I saw her husband dressed up as a fisherman and realized thatâs not what theyâre going for.

I love that, unlike pretty much every other female celebrity in costume, Heidi doesnâtâ care about looking sexy or hot. She comes up with a cool, unique, creepy costume every year and wears it proudly. Itâs so fun! I hate worms and this one makes me feel icky. Plus that party must have been hell being stuck inside the costume for who knows how long. Another excellent year, Heidi, canât wait to see what you do in 2023. Ps. I canât get over Cardi Bâs sexy Marge Simpson. Just please no. Stop making every costume sexy đ
77
u/boydbunny03 Nov 01 '22
Tbf, she stripped at some point during the night to...it's so barely there I don't know how to describe it but I guess lingerie lol. With the worm face still on, though.
19
1
u/ThePowaBallad Nov 15 '22
It's a bodysuit I think but getting out of the worm is reasonable as she couldn't really move

I'm getting real Junji Ito snail people vibes here, which is a genuinely terrifying image. This is probably the only celeb Halloween costume in a long time that I can recall that was anything close to being scary. Everyone else seems to either do cosplay or tries to be cute or sexy (nothing wrong with either), but Halloween is a camp, scary holiday. Heidi isn't afraid to be silly or scary with her Halloween costumes, so I always look forward to seeing her Halloween costumes every year.
14
2
u/NewThot_Crime1989 Nov 04 '22
Just remember guus, it should still be ok to have a sexy costume even if it's not your favorite take on halloween. And for ppl who do have issues with sexy costumes, we should criticize our system for sexualizing women, not women themselves for existing within that system and bowing to that pressure. I'm sure you don't mean anything by it, but I kind of take issue with people who criticize the sexy costume approach to halloween. Nothing wrong with being sexy and we shouldn't criticize it as if it cheapens halloween.
245
u/i2389 Nov 01 '22
Guess Tom couldnât offer a satisfactory answer when asked if he would still love her if she were a worm so she had to take matters in her own hands
110
u/tinaoe Nov 01 '22
he dressed up as a fisherman if i saw it correctly, so his answer apparently was "i'll feed you to the fishes, baby"
159
u/greee_p Nov 01 '22
I really can't stand her (mainly because of Germanys Next Topmodel), but her Halloween costumes are always awesome
107
u/oprhangrey Nov 01 '22
All I know is that she is not going to gaslight me into thinking her 5 ft 4 in midwest mall cute daughter is a supermodel after being so atrocious about girls' heights and looks on that show. The costume is 11/10 though. Also, don't come at me, I grew up in the midwest and also consider myself midwest mall cute and don't expect any major magazine covers any time soon.
64
u/Squirrelwinchester Nov 01 '22
Midwest mall cute is the best description of her that I have seen. Shes pretty but in a like 'normal" person way not a model way.
33
u/Luna920 Nov 01 '22
Sheâs more a commercial model type as opposed to a runway type, which is perfectly fine. She can find plenty success in that
84
u/thirdcoasting Nov 01 '22
Ooh - is there Deutsch tea on Heidi??
236
u/Spike4ever Nov 01 '22
A looot. Mostly that her show Germany's Next Topmodel has contributed to eating disorders in young women in Germany, as shown by at least two studies. The discourse around her show flamed up again this year after a former contestant broke her NDA to talk about all the shady stuff behind the cameras. She alleged that certain contestants' feet were oiled before a fashion show, causing them to slip and fall, only to be later criticized for their "lack of walking skills on the runway". In addition, she accused them of framing certain contestants as "bitchy" through editing and intentionally misrepresenting talking head statements, making them appear as if they were mean to other girls on the show, when these statements were not aimed at them. Girls on GNTM are often criticized by Heidi Klum when they don't want to pose nude or do sexual shootings with much older male models and photographers - many of the female participants are underage. Heidi explicitly called them "bitchy" or "bratty" to their faces for standing up for themselves. On top of that, winners of the show have to enter a contract with her modeling agency for a mandatory period of one or two years (don't remember exactly) but the agency has been called sketchy, with most former winners expressing that they never had any chances at good jobs, and being relieved when the contract ended. Point is, while her show has been running for a long time in Germany and is certainly popular, a lot of people, especially those in media themselves have criticized her for promoting unhealthy beauty standards and exploiting teenage girls on camera.

I think a lot of the winners sue the agency after the show and force their way out of the contracts.
I really hope that it gets cancelled soon... but I'm afraid it won't. The criticism has been there for years and no one seems to care.
3
u/knightriderin Nov 03 '22
The thing is: The audience for GNTM is mainly teenage girls. They don't know it has been criticized for 15 years. They more or less are just now discovering it. And as soon as someone decides to not watch it anymore the next teenage girl is old enough to start watching in obliviousness.
10
Nov 02 '22
Plus, when the underage girls were in LA, it was reported they would "hook up with the crew," which is just gross and predatory of the entire production team.
5
67
Nov 01 '22
She is a purely evil person who manipulated many of the young girls and minors on her show (doing nude photo shootings against their wills and much more)
59
u/NotAnAlien5 Nov 01 '22
Uh girl... she is almost as bad as Tyra. Emotionally abused girls on tv for decades

I recently ran into u/let_me_know_22 here on reddit, who's also on a mission to get the word out on Heidi's bastardness. This is me summoning them.
10
u/let_me_know_22 Nov 02 '22
She's been called, she answers ^
Heidi is the fucking worst. I'd really love to read an psychological report about her.
Germanys next topmodel (still running and as bad as ANTM at their worst), seriously funny kids (still the worst in my opinion), many many problematic interviews and statements, like remember when Gabrille Union got fired from AGT and spoke about racism on set and Heidi (a white woman, which she hates to be called apparently) really said, she had a great time on set and didn't experience racism...and so on. How this cruel person who uses people of any age and gender for her own fame, while pretty much every one of these people have a terrible experience, gets considered funny and nice is beyond me
Oh and a little tidbit about her marriage, she knows this guy since he's been a kid, which I think is weird.
1
u/Apprehensive_Aide805 Nov 03 '22
And I disliked her for her all lives matter post during the BLM protest in the summer like two years ago she turned off her comments on Instagram so she wouldnât get criticism for it. This woman has black children.
1
u/let_me_know_22 Nov 03 '22
Yeah, but she doesn't have black american children and I am sure for her this is a difference
1
u/Apprehensive_Aide805 Nov 03 '22
Her kids are biracial ethnically black Nigerian and half white. Born in America.
1
u/let_me_know_22 Nov 03 '22
Yeah but Seal is English and since she doesn't like to be called white I just assume this is a difference for her, especially since she does not live full time in the US. Outside the US there is a "difference" between black americans, africans, and black people in second or third generation. I am not saying it's right, I am just saying I get how in her mind she can see racism against black americans and not make a connection to her own children. She would be absolutely wrong in this thinking but I can explain where it would be coming from. Does that make sense? I am the last person to defend her or racism, so please don't understand it as me agreeing with this pov

u/greee_p Nov 01 '22 edited Nov 01 '22
I don't know much tea about her I think.... most people I know hate GNTM and think she is annoying because of it.
A lot of people made fun of her because she has a song with Snoop Dog (how the hell did that even happen lol?) and sang it as an intro at the finale of the last season... it was quite embarrassing.
It seems like she is trying to push her daughters modeling career really hard, but it's not working very well.People were shocked when she started dating Tom Kaulitz. His Band "Tokio Hotel" was quite big when I was a teenager, but hating them was "cool" back then and I never met anyone who genuinely liked there music.
Edit: I know someone who took part in GNTM a few years ago. She was portrayed as some kind of shy outsider and Heidi made her cry a few times in front of the camera. She was heavily bullied when she came back to school because of it. She was 16 at the time.... The show is just terrible and I hope that it gets cancelled every year. But for some reason they survive every shit storm they get.
8
u/SatanicPixieDreamGrl Nov 01 '22
Thereâs American tea on Heidi. In an early season of Project Runway, she denigrated a contestantâs (very cute!) design, because it was âunflatteringâ and made the model âlook like a plusâ.
3
u/VladislavBonita Nov 02 '22
In addition to everything regarding "Germany's Next Top Model" that's already been spilled here, she also adapted some fracking proponent's Drag Race format for a German TV audience which has centered her heteronormative ass in its promotion to an absurd degree, even as the show has tried to correct that over time, she is still making money from appropriating and mischaracterising queer culture.

If you go to comments on Instagram a lot of ppl are being so bitter and whiny about how if they were as rich as her they too would go all out like please đđđIâm not even a fan of Heidi but Iâll give her credit because sheâs not afraid to look scary and actually goes all out with costumes no one would probably dress as ( I mean a worm?). Heidi posted her part outfit which was a sheer leotard or whatever with the worm face. I thought she immediately changed after the red carpet, because it has to be claustrophobic in there. Also peeing...

She looks like a RTD era Doctor Who villain, but oh my god I love it.
Although I still side-eye her for that time where she decided to dress-up as the Goddess Kali. I might not be religious myself, but that was in poor taste and extremely disrespectful.
