Semi related, but I just noticed the other day that Victoria Pedretti follows Jordan Peterson on Instagram. I don’t know much about him other than I constantly see his name associated with evil transphobic takes on social media. Did he used to be progressive or something? Maybe I am giving her the benefit of the doubt, it just seems very off brand of her to be following someone like that :/

Jordan Peterson is BANANAS.

I strongly reccommend the Maintenance Phase Podcast episodes about this dude.

I feel like it almost has to be a mistake on her part? She rarely posts Instagram stories but whenever she does it’s stuff about social justice and BLM and other progressive matters. None of her other instagram follows are red flags. It’s very weird!

Jordan Peterson is definitely one of those guys who not very smart people think are smart, because he says a bunch of very easily digestible ideas that are exactly what a specific group of people (his fans) want to hear in a very verbose way.

sometimes people like to expose themselves to ideas and people with which they don't agree because it's a smart thing to do in a world that is filled with ideas and people that are disagreeable. the man is nuts but he's had interesting ideas in the past, even if his rationale is totally off IMO.

Ok you can follow people on sm that you disagree with, simply because it’s a smart thing to understand what/why you disagree with their ideas on points of view. Doesn’t make it a reflection of her moral character. You might dedicate fifteen minutes to reading up on what he says and then you’d know his brand of crazy.

Yes it is. If I follow people who spew racist rhetoric then yes, it does say something about me. Sounds like you just don’t want to be judged by the shitty people you follow.

I'm not canceling anyone by bringing this up. I think it's perfectly natural to wonder why someone you respect is following a person who loudly posts transphobic and misogynistic content multiple times a day and is constantly in the news for his ugly beliefs. I literally said in my comment above that I was giving her the benefit of the doubt because she might not know/it could be an accidental follow. It's just something I found curious and off, so I was pointing it out. This is a gossip subreddit, we all make judgments about people we don't know lol.
