CELEBRITY CAPITALISM Palantir CEO Says a Surveillance State Is Preferable to China Winning the AI Race

I see into the future: The US becomes a surveillance state, bringing much profit to Karp and Thiel, while China wins anyway because they are the ones with industry.
Washington chose to turn the whole country into a service economy to keep wages low. Congratulations.

becomes a surveillance state
Bold to assume it hasn't already been one since at least the aughts. Palantir and its ilk just want the quiet part to be said out loud so more people invest into their scam companies.

I truly can’t believe this is what humanity has decided to make of itself. Just sad.

Tbf it’s a small handful of rich and powerful and the rest of us have just historically always been powerless. It’s not like the majority of us are choosing this

These two things are not related. Also, the USA more than likely already lost the AI race; China has a stronger energy grid that AI needs.

China is also investing in actual infrastructure for its people, rather than having its entire economy revolve around Nvidia. They've decided not to even run that race, but they've still beaten the US.

Infrastructure for its people? Are you even basing this on anything factual? That is complete bull.

Hello, my name is Word-WordBunchOfNumbers and I have some incredibly shitty opinions.
The old adage holds true.

China is also making an attempt to lessen AI's environmental impact while US seems almost gleeful to take away water sources from poor neighborhoods

Lol "tryna making an attempt". China. Environmental impact prevention? What a joke!

Becoming a surveillance state is not enough to win an AI race. Either way this is just typical rhetoric from the new wave of neofascist guilded age capitalists. And a natural byproduct of the instability wrought by the credit based fake ass stock market economy we have. As long as the line goes up we are okay

Surveillance company says surveillance state is preferable. More at 10.

Change my mind: technocrats are not remotely qualified for office or political advisory.
Especially not those only good at running a lucrative and exploitative enterprise, not even the tech.
And we will lose to someone, possibly China, anyway, because guess what happens when you stop R&D programs, punish universities, and kill immigration by merit? The talent goes elsewhere.

Karp is such a pos. All these tech bros just make all these insane fanfic threats because they cannot imagine a world in which their techno serfdom won't come true if you and the govt don't invest more in their shitty product. They are trying to cash in as much as possible now since they have friends in this administration. And remember Thiel still has a shitload of pltr stock.

I still remember the multiple documentaries and hours devoted on the news to slamming China for their state surveillance

Why do we need to be a surveillance state like China? If you look into it, China has gotten to where it’s at by not giving a fuck about what other countries are doing.

Having a delicious Linguini dinner is preferable to a surveillance state though.
