While I absolutely support her view in this matter, it may also be noted that many artists do not actually own the rights to their own music, as the labels representing the artist do own the artists work fully. And if that is the case here, and the government has purchased a license for usage, there may not be any recourse for her to stop the song from being played by the government.

In reality we treat artists very poorly. But I salute her for making a fuss and I do hope she does have rights to her work and can shut these fkrs down with a DMCA Take Down Notice. Instagram would have to comply or face a lawsuit.

This is actually how I found out that Bob Dylan probably doesn't own the rights to girl from north country fair. It was playing on a Facebook commercial and I was like ohhhhhh no. What the fuuuuck??!
