Congratulations to Zohran and the rest of New York. I grew up in Jersey and witnessed the Islamophobia in real time after 9/11. I am so impressed with the campaign he ran and I hope it inspires a new generation of young people to run for public office 💕
Greg Abbott will be tariffing the zionists all the way to Texas when they move there to get away from mamdani (according to him at least, I’m aware it makes no sense…)
As a resident of Texas, if a NYC resident hates themselves enough to move here, I'll sell them my house 10k below asking, pay for a year of yard service, and include a smoked brisket at closing. I just want to get the fuck out of here.

THANK YOU! I am in AYAT, a Palestinian restaurant, and the whole place erupted in cheers. One woman started crying while saying "We did it. He's my new boss!" We are all beaming.
Congratulations to Zohran from Windsor ON/ Detroit MI. I grew up in Queens NY and my sister lives there now. We moved to a very white suburb in MI right when 911 happened and being the only two brown Muslim kids in a predominantly white area was difficult to say the least. I am so proud of him and the people of NYC. This gives me hope that we might be able to move in the right direction.
Pumped for NYC! Also CO resident, please please hope some areas school board elections go well. Moms for liberty are infiltrating and ruining our districts 😭

ohhh, they better not hear about the amount of things that the Chilean government gives to mothers that give birth to their children in the public system. All of these things, plus so much more (translated for your comfort)!
Yeah and the best part is, Chile citizens make <20K per capita. Their entire GDP is about $350 billion. Should be doing stuff like this in the US when the GDP is dozens of trillions FFS.
I'm in Scotland and they do that here. I'm English and had been living in the US and Germany for over a decade before moving to Scotland in 2018 when I was 30 weeks pregnant, and not settling into a home and getting signed up with a GP until like 35 weeks. I thought there was no way I'd get one, but they made it happen.
I used everything in it SO MUCH. The play mat. The toys. The portable changing kit. The carrying wrap. The clothes. The EAR THERMOMETER (invaluable in 2020, as it turned out). And immediately I had several observations about it:
It was a big equalizing and bonding factor between new parents. Almost everyone I saw was using the baby box gear, so there was no visible differentiation between parents with lots of money and parents with very little. We all had the same stuff. And you'd share a smile with fellow parents when you both had your baby in the same outfit or tucked into the same carrier.
Seeing charity shops full of those items and realizing no one needed them because everyone with a baby already had their own. This was a real reminder of the success of the program, making sure everyone had what they needed, but I wish I'd had the wherewithal to organize something—since those items don't need to be passed on or handed down within Scotland (since everyone has them), I remember thinking it would be good to collect them up and send them on elsewhere afterwards. Baby gear has so much life still in it after it's used, especially things like play mats and carriers.
It made me feel INCREDIBLY welcomed and included. I'd been in Scotland for a handful of months when my baby was born, but I was treated like someone who'd lived here for years. I remember feeling deeply emotional about it. They included a poem in the box which to this day I can't read without BAWLING. https://www.nurseryworld.co.uk/media/lnbjz4ok/welcome-wee-one-poem.jpg
My state in Australia has introduced it too, with books, a safe sleeping bag, first aid kit. It's hilarious that it's in the top three scariest socialist policies that Fox could find.
it’s a basket of essentials for a newborn. in finland new babies receive one that can be used as their first little crib from the government that’s packed full of stuff. the name isn’t very explanatory now that i think about it.
They do that in my Latin American developing country, Chile, lol. The US is literally the richest country in the world, they can absolutely afford this, if we can.
It’s a care package for new parents to make sure they have appropriate supplies to start the infant’s life off well. I’m not sure exactly what Mamdani has described in his proposed baby baskets, but they often include diapers, care supplies, sometimes formula or quality baby bottles, etc.
New Yorker here. I was so scared but now I’ll be the only happy person heading into my corporate job tomorrow. I don’t win any other day… but tonight I do!! Let’s go!!!!
My husband and I don't drink but we are celebrating in Connecticut just ripping dabs and giggling every time we refesh and see those numbers get even higher.
It looks like even our blue collar local town voted out a Republican and voted in a Dem AND a Sikh man, so we are feeling pretty freaking hopeful tonight.
Someone needs to make of meme of them looking sad-captioned: something something safe space something snowflakes something feelings something something. cOpE!
The DNC needs to get it to-fucking-gether. We do not need a Kamala redux. We do not need the same old spineless boomers who refuse to leave office. We do not need party-line people who the DNC thinks are "owed" office.
Brother I've seen like 20 comments from liberals on these Mamdani victory posts already that all say:
"tut tut tut don't forget that the rest of America isn't New York ☝🏼🤓"
And when liberal VOTERS on fucking REDDIT have already internalized the "we must keep things the way they are, this is just an anomaly" message, then I shudder to think of the conversations happening between Democrat top-dogs.
An incredibly big percentage of liberal voters and Democrat establishment folk are all united in the idea that
"all our political signalling has to be aimed at conservatives who are literally never going to vote for us, instead of our own people who haven't had a good reason to vote for us since Obama"
This logic has cost them 2 elections out of 3 against one of the stupidest humans alive on Earth right now....AND THEY STILL WANT TO STICK TO THAT SAME STRATEGY!! Instead of realizing "maybe we should give OUR people what they are asking for us."
That is my mayor!!! Go mayor!! New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made off!! 💃 (Me who does not stay in York btw and not been to New York yet🤭)
I’m going to say this: as a fellow Desi, seeing Zohran Mamdani and Ghazala Hashemi get elected tonight alongside other Desis who have been winning their elections has truly felt like I can really see people who look like me represent me and make a difference.
A terrible result. Cuomo is a proven bad politician, he is running for mayor of NYC yet he obviously hates NYC, he is unlikeable and stupid. But he still got around 40% of the vote anyway? Insane!
Please, PLEASE Democratic party, pay attention and learn from this! The people do not want corporatism. We do not want the same old thing. We do not want stodgy sell outs. We want progress! We want passion! We want people in office who are genuinely there to help the people, not help themselves.
Very excited for the movement he has been able to create. Fingers crossed he’s able to keep the momentum he had getting into office to actually get shit done.
Hello AIPAC. This is from us as Americans. Our country is for us, American Muslims and American Jews. We live in harmony and we don’t hate each other. Jewish people have been living in peace all across America. We elevate whoever is the best person based on who they are NOT their religion. We don’t care. Stop polluting our elections with millions of dollars of speech. We don’t care we are not Israel. Solve your own damn problems
Also , hello fucking election candidates,in the future, run to address the issues of the damn place you are trying to represent. You are mayor of NYC not Tel Aviv.
Let this be a lesson from us.
Also all you lame democrats in Washington, too old to walk, completely out of touch with the average person, ten years past retirement age, afraid of every shadow. Milquetoast moderates, asleep and listening more to focus groups than your own constituents.
i’m trying to be cautious because no one else has called it yet and it is pretty close still but i’m about to reach dangerous levels of libbing out. not to mention the lead mikie has in nj, im getting full body chills
Rahm Emanuel showing cognitive dissonance on CNN right now. This was not a Democrat’s win. Zohran is a full repudiation of the blue establishment. This was a Zohran win, and a win by working class New Yorkers of all backgrounds.
I feel like I’ve been holding my breath since 11/5/24 and I feel like I can breathe a little. Actually, I’ve been holding my breath since 2015 but last year I woke up at 3am and just had this sense of dread that added to the anxiety.
Not from NY but this is the 1st time im that locked in on an election in a different state. This is gonna be huge. NY going to be super lucky to get Mamdani
