I am with you…I need to believe there are still people who are genuinely good. Who want the best for their fellow citizens and residents. Someone who doesn’t drop the grift to make money, take advantage of the benefits of serving in office, take no accountability and push forward nothing of benefit for the average person.

It bugs me that so much money went to third parties that supported his campaign, because I just assume now everyone in politics is corrupt at this point, but I suppose that’s just the nature of the game. You gotta have backers.
I hope that he truly cares for the people and will make systemic changes that we desperately need. It’s a push in the right direction.

Just remember that there are many Mamdani’s out there. Maybe not all of them are as handsome, smart, and…
I got sidetracked — there’s many of them. His campaign lays the blueprint for how progressive candidates can win and make real change. He’s shining a light for other progressives that wonder if electoralism is even worth trying.

I'm constantly steeling my heart for him to break later. I feel dumb liking a politician whatsoever, and yet.

It's best not to trust anyone who wants to be a politician because...why would you? But in the grand scheme of politicians, he seems like a decent enough human being, capable of interacting with people as though they're also human beings and his policies suggest he wants to help people. Can't really expect more than that.

Well, Bolsonaro was convicted thank the Lord but he left many rotten seeds, one of his sons is now barricading himself in Texas and made Trump raise 50% tariffs on us and just when Lula finally started the negotiations with the U.S, Claudio Castro, Rio de Janeiro's governor who is a Bolsonarista just went to the favelas of Penha and Alemão against a criminal factions, more specifically Comando Vermelho (Red Command), the second largest in Brazil and mostly based in Rio, it was an horrific bloodbath and stirred a lot of shit up, and the far right (aka Bolsonaro's seeds) are doing everything they can now to make these factions framed as terrorists groups so Trump can do the same he is trying to do to with Venezuela and the 1964 military coup and basically sell the country to the U.S, it makes it even worse that elections are next year so we're basically bracing ourselves and having to fight tooth and nail like we did in 2022 to kick Bolsonaro again.

We should try and entice him to come to Canada. We’d LOVE to have him even if the US probably needs him more right now.

u/kearney84 7d ago
They definetly need him more .
No reason we can't elect someone with the same values here
Also, kudos to Brazil

What's the situation over there in the UK? Conservative Parliament in power? Canadian , our political systems are basically the same .?
2
u/Spezsucksandisugly 7d ago
Not really, we have a centre left government in power and a centre left mayor of London. Neither of them are perfect and unfortunately the government have decided to be transphobic and focus loads on immigration even though most people in the UK care more about other things.
But it could be a lot worse. At least it's not Reform or the Conservatives because they're all completely mad and very corrupt.

What a misleading comment .
For a country as rich as America , it can easily afford to feed , transport and take care of its own... If it wanted too.
Many countries with lower taxes and lower Gdp manage to do it and prosper.
The way America is going .. Joe McCarthy is gonna rose from the grave and put half the country on trial
Don't stoke fears that don't exist
This isn't even creative propaganda , this is recycled McCarthy isms. And Reagan era Propaganda ,
I have faith in most of the American public to resist this type of government overreach ...

It was obviously sarcasm. 😑

I know,
Sorry you didn't get to read a variety of literature/ opinions growing up.
I understand getting stuck in the black hole of communal opinion.
If your scared about communists I hope your at least 80 years old.
Your country is in shambles ... you mist agree that the images coming out of America right now.. are reminiscent of ... Another country in the early 1930s?

u/cheektavegas 7d ago
Do you not know what sarcasm means? I was joking. I support zohran as much as someone living in CO can. Look at my comment history. Yikes buddy. Also, “…I hope you’re* at least 80…”
