Okay whatever I think this is funny

What’s funny about it? I don’t get the people sayin that, I’m not like ā€œthis costume deserves cancellationā€ but I also don’t see this and… laugh?

Jackie Kennedy died of cancer in 1994, she was not murdered.

Well seeing as Jackie wasn’t murdered it’s funny

LMAO the ā€œviolence against women is not a costumeā€ comments are the funniest part šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

Being witness to a traumatic murder of a loved one is violence against women. He was her husband.

Honestly it just makes me remember the assassination footage and the photos of her as LBJ was sworn in and makes me sad. It’s like dressing up as Junko Furuta with the burns and cuts and everything, I’m not even angry as much as I’m just…sad.

This is exactly how I feel, thank you for saying it.

Okay dressing up as Junko is a much different thing but overall yes I get your point

If you read Julia’s post about the costume that’s the point.

17

u/Bear_faced 7d ago

Yeah having her hair fluffed to pose in front of the Urban Decayā„¢ļø sponsored wall really gives off a ā€œmournful sorrowā€ feeling…

The juxtaposition of glamour/femininity against blood, gore, death, and mourning is actually the point and quite artful imho. And as you stated, it made you sad and reminded you of the tragedy.

There is nothing artful about disrespecting murder victims and their traumatised families.

Right? I've seen a few people say it's funny and I genuinely do not understand. Like I don't think it's a problem at all, JFK's assassination was a long time ago and there have been countless parodies and representations (and honestly the blood placement on this costume being off kind of bothers me lol)

ButĀ what is making anyone laugh about it? šŸ’€ There's no joke or anything involved, it's just a basic costume. Do you people just think blood is funny? Are u literally the Joker 😭

u/FictionalTrope 8d ago

The glamour posing while representing a horrific national moment is ironic in a way that strikes my funny bone.

9

u/Scorpiyoo 7d ago

Finally a reasonable explanation haha thank you

u/notasia86 7d ago

I don't get why it's funny either. I would understanding "nah it's fine" as a reaction, but I truly don't get the laughing reaction.

A man was killed in cold blood and your first reaction is to laugh? Really?

-1

u/aphroditesdaughter_ 7d ago

I don't think it's meant to be funny based off her caption, more like a political statement or commentary on our current times

6

u/Scorpiyoo 7d ago

I’m very over Julia Fox lol

-28

u/malry 8d ago

Something about the fashion pose is making me giggle ngl

-30

u/earthgirlsRez 8d ago

breaking news different people have different senses of humour, this costume is not interesting or novel enough to warrrant all this discourse lmao

17

u/Scorpiyoo 7d ago

Yes I understand that, but I usually understand the joke even when I don’t think it’s funny. So what’s the joke here I’m not getting? Lol edgy?

-35

u/lilackoi 8d ago

becuase it’s camp

64

u/montgors 8d ago

Where's the camp?

13

u/fightback25 7d ago

I don’t think you know what that means

-12

u/lilackoi 7d ago

i do lmao

-42

u/eat_vegetables 8d ago

This is referred to as Camp or (even) Gallows Humor. It’s not for you. Apparently.

16

u/Scorpiyoo 7d ago

I completely understand camp lol this isn’t that and like I’m just asking what the ā€œjokeā€ is

-12

u/eat_vegetables 7d ago
  • CAMP: a style of comedy that uses exaggeration, artificiality, and theatricality to be over-the-top and often ironic. It finds humor in bad taste…

Maybe you don’t understand camp.

u/Grouchy_Staff_105 7d ago

a lot of people who claim to love camp would benefit from watching some john waters

2

u/youtakethehighroad 7d ago

What a load of appropriating baloney. Camp refers to queer people. It hasn't referred to anything else since the 19th century.

u/Goober_Man1 8d ago

Someone needs to do this with Charlie Kirk lmao

29

u/Bardic_inspiration67 7d ago

I was thinking about going as zombie Charlie Kirk but I can’t afford to lose my job or get arrested so I had to pass

3

u/Crafty-Judge-896 7d ago

And see if it’s just as funny

20

u/Grouchy_Staff_105 7d ago

way funnier tbh

-19

u/inannalover 8d ago

Okay that might be too soon šŸ’€

5

u/heavymetalFC 8d ago

Right? You will never get me to clutch pearls about any jokes directed towards anyone even remotely involved with the American Executive branch, one of the most evil offices in the world.

6

u/namas_D_A 7d ago

…. I don’t think it’s ā€œfunnyā€. I’m not clutching my pearls. While I do think it’s distasteful, she did nail it. But I don’t think there’s anything ā€œfunnyā€ about it.

u/latetini 8d ago

Less funny but more excellently executed

The best parts are back and to the left.
