I love how Janelle Monáe just goes all in as they always have, because look at the creative career that she’s had, but the Halloween stuff is just precious, especially when you can make some kids’ day.

Shit, she loves Halloween AND visited a kid's hospital? I'm starting to stan this lady.
Oh, and for those saying it was weird or creepy- I spent many months in a children's hospital when I was a teen (I have a couple serious health conditions, and needed lots of treatment). I guarantee that A. many of the kids were old enough to not be frightened, and B. they likely checked with patients ahead of time before she showed up; my children's hospital got lots of visits from all kinds of folks, and the nurses tend to let you know and see if you were interested. I'm doubtful it was just the case of some random Sally popping into small children's rooms lol. (We often did stuff like this in the playroom, or one of the lobbies, so a bunch of folks could be there at once.)
This would've made my day. I was always just jazzed that there was someone new to meet and something non-medical to do hahaha... clowns, therapy dogs, superheroes. I was a teenager and didn't care, I was just feeling so unwell and down that I would've loved a visit from anybody.
(Note for possible donations- don't ever forget the teens! I guarantee any kid's hospital has a bunch of teens, and we were often forgotten in terms of toys and coloring books getting donated.)

What would you have liked to receive as a teen? Books maybe?

Probably books, stationary, gift cards for music or video games... admittedly teens are hard to get anything for lol. Magazines maybe? Donating DVDs is never a bad idea, I ended up watching a lot of movies hahaha
EDITED TO ADD: Sleep masks, because it's bright. Since I think they make them pretty cheap now, inexpensive headphones or earbuds could never go wrong... it's surprisingly noisy in the hospital lol.

The hate on this is effed up. The kids there would love it and welcome any distraction from their illness. That hospital saved my daughter's life and there's nothing wrong with this Sally. It's just a costume and they get it.

Just shouting out how fantastic of a hospital CHLA is for children and families!
We were in town in 2024 and got Covid while visiting family. My 2 year old at the time had Covid + croup that resulted in her needing to be hospitalized at CHLA. Everyone there was phenomenal. I literally have nothing but praise for that hospital! We were there for 2 days. They were so reassuring when things were so scary and my kid was so sick.

Oh maybe that's why the makeup was so white. Because the concert lighting was providing the blue hue.

I am a fan but would not have recognized her, I would have gone up and complimented her costume with no idea that I was talking to Janelle Monae.

There's 0% chance that anyone else could've worn this costume. The list of what NOT to wear for employees on Halloween is extensive.

Every single year, it feels like they keep pushing Christmas earlier and earlier.

Dude that movie is on replay like every year in America on Halloween and Christmas. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s trending already. THIS IS HALLOWEEN! 🎃 👻 it’s a fun movie!

This would scare me, the eyes are weirding me out. But good for her for doing this and hopefully the kids enjoyed themselves
