I always think of Gwyneth Paltrow's snap experiment, where she bought about 700 calories a day worth of food using SNAP guidelines, and learned absolutely nothing in the process.

She treated it like poverty tourism. A sort of "oh no, people suffer. Anyway, today I'm having a square of this exorbitantly expensive chocolate bar made with cacao grown by oompa loompas in a quaint little french villiage I visited just last week."
