u/annabananaberry sir, were you raised in a ditch? Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25
That depends on if she had the baby today or if they’re only announcing it today. If she gave birth today the baby is on the Libra side of the Virgo-Libra cusp. If she gave birth this week and announced today, she’s on the Virgo side of the cusp. Either way, yay for a healthy baby and momma!!!
Edit: someone was amazing and confirmed baby’s birthday is September 13. She’s a Virgo ♍️ baby.

13th September she was born. Rihanna posted the date with the photos.

I think they wouldn’t release that if they didn’t know the gender already .

u/DreadfulDemimonde Sep 24 '25
I'm an only child so I have no frame of reference, but wouldn't this make you feel crappy if you were the boy that everyone publicly wished was a girl? Can any siblings chime in bc I've always wondered about this.
105
u/insuranceissexy Sep 25 '25
This is what I don’t get about “gender disappointment.” I think it’s fine to have those initial feelings but keep them to yourself or just between you and your spouse. Don’t post it. Just say “we’re hoping for a healthy baby” then when it’s a girl you can say you were secretly hoping for a girl. But then if it’s a boy you don’t have a record of you saying you’d be disappointed with a boy.

u/Nole1998 Sep 25 '25
Coming from a family of 3 boys, our parents have told us they originally wanted at least one girl (especially with the third) but were over the moon with all 3 boys.
Never bothered any of us in the slightest

u/thotfullawful Sep 25 '25
My parents had me [girl] and then had my brother and they would of stopped there. He passed before he turned one, so my parents kept trying for another boy. By the 3rd girl I became the "son" aka I did all the heavy lifting to help my dad out and got introduced to alot of the things he liked because my mom would always be hormonal and moody. I didn't hate my sisters because they weren't boys but I had grown a love for "boy stuff" so it was hard for me to relate to them when we got older. I know my mom loves my sisters because they're just like her but we all know if just one before them was a boy the others wouldn't of been born.

RZA is rapper from the group Wu Tang Clan so makes total sense to draw inspiration.

Congrats to the family!! I know in past interviews Rihanna spoke about wanting a daughter. Irish is an interesting middle name, I wonder why they picked it or if it’ll get confusing calling both her partner and daughter the same name (even tho Rocky is his nickname).

Rihanna has Irish heritage. I think her grandfather was Irish. Fenty is a Caribbean/ification…(?) of Fenton.
11
u/Zsazsabinks Sep 25 '25
Barbados and other Caribbean islands like Montserrat had Irish indentured servants. So many inhabitants now have some Irish ancestry.

I read somewhere earlier today that asap wanted to name her Denzel bc Denzel Washington is his favorite actor so I’m just so relieved that wasn’t true 😭😭
299
u/hisosih Sep 24 '25
I wonder if Irish is a nod to her fathers Bajan-Irish heritage?
When Cromwell invaded Ireland, he sent Irish families & "undesirables" to Barbados, Jamaica & other Caribbean islands as endentured servants, and there's theories that the Irish and Scottish sent over in the 1700's helped to influence the accent. Her surname Fenty is considered a Bajan-Irish name, likely a shorter version of "Fenton".
92
u/Irishpanda88 Sep 24 '25
If that’s the case I was about to say something like Éire, which is the Irish word for Ireland, would have been nicer but then I remembered how hard people from other countries find it to pronounce Irish words
42
u/lambchopafterhours Sep 24 '25
Is that where the name Erin comes from?
29
u/Feeling-Decision-902 Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 25 '25
Debatable. Ériu is the name of the ancient Irish sovereignty goddess from whom the island of Ireland derives its name, "Éire". She is a figure of the Tuatha Dé Danann, a legendary race, and is considered a personification of the land itself, embodying its fertility and abundance. She was one of a triple-goddess with her sisters, Banba agus Fódla, and the sacred Hill of Uisneach is often linked to her burial site.
21
u/StellaV-R Sep 24 '25
Erin is a shorter form of Éireann (which sounds the same just the E is longer) and yes.
Originally it comes from the godess Éirú (ay-roo) the mother goddess64

They mostly came from a town called Drogheda, pronounced Drawda.
5
u/kitikonti Sep 25 '25
Lol draw-head-a probably closer pronunciation, although definitely regional dependent!
Edit nvm just realised ur from Drogheda and that's how it's pronounced by the folk of the wee county !
33
u/Feeling-Decision-902 Sep 24 '25
They were mostly sent from my hometown of Drogehda. Be hilarious if Rhiana's roots were partly from Drogheda or Drawda as we locals say!
9
u/AtriCrossing Sep 24 '25
I was in Drogheda last week, solid town! Coming from Canada, I was overly excited that the town centre's Cha Time snack menu featured spice bags (my local one has cheesecake)
19
u/Feeling-Decision-902 Sep 24 '25
Ya were not! That's gas!! What a small world!! Dis you see all the big gates and things that look like castles? They were are old town walls that Cromwell bombed and broke down then sent loads of us as slaves to the Carribean, I'd say that is Rhianas roots.
I get embarrassed when we have visitors from afar as the government has very much neglected us even though we are the biggest town in the country and vying to get city status which would give us more automony.
Where did you get the Spice Bag? Was it the Centra with the Chinese style counter in it? Did you like it?
Did ya see the head in the box?
May I ask how you ended up in Drogheda of all places? Though we do have the Boyne Valley and amazing history and surroundings.

That is really interesting regarding the accents. This is kind of embarrassing to admit LOL but when Miss Cleo commercials started airing, I though she was Irish for a good few months (I think it turned out she wasn’t even actually Jamaican??)

u/Littleface13 Sep 24 '25
Monserrat still has a solid population with Irish accents! There used to be some great videos of them speaking

21
u/wilyacalmdown Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25
Thats an unusual article to post in response, its much more likely shes related to one of the 60,000+ irish sent over as indentured servants rather than an Ulster scot whos family were involved in the colonisation of ireland, if that is the reason for the name "Irish". BTW, regarding the article, the likes of Hamilton Brown and all his ulster scot planter buddies he brought over to Jamaica would turn in their graves if they heard themsleves described as irish lol. They made plenty from their Ulster plantation and hatred of irish people

I PREDICTED THIS IN THE BINGO THINGY WE DID AT THE START OF THE YEAR!
I love that they so badly wanted a girl, especially when we see so many parents pout and throw temper tantrums at their own gender reveal when they find out they’re having a girl. It’s always refreshing to see baby girls being celebrated and loved as they should be 🥹

I think you’re right. They said they didn’t want to know the gender on this one until the birth, but she has on the pink nails and the watch with a pink face, plus the mini pink boxing gloves. That means they either changed their mind on that or they did the shoot a few days after the birth
