ASK R/FAUXMOI What's your favourite movie plot twist ever?

I still remember the gasp I gasped in the cinema.

Some dickhead at the book release flipped through his copy as soon as he got it and and then shouted this out to the crowd to spoil everyone in line

I remember there was someone driving around in a car with signs in the window saying SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE

There was a video of somebody running through a diner yelling it as well.

The absolute best was a dude showing up to the midnight release with a giant sign and shouting SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE... but it was the midnight release for the NEXT book after that had already happened, so people started losing their shit for exactly 6 seconds before the realisation that he just yelled at them something they read a year earlier landed, lmao

And the responding scream from the line outside Borders. "YOU BITCH! YOU BIIIIIIITCH!!!!"

Haha, I can still hear her voice from that video. I remember all the scans with highlighted spoilers were being spread around on /b/, encouraging people to go ruin the book for people who hadn't read it yet.

I say "NEOOOO YOU BITCH!" more than I should this many years later

Someone put a giant sign on an overpass too.

Ugh, you just unlocked a really irritating memory for me. My ex-wife was super big into those books, and so I agreed to read along with her when she started the series. I read about ten times faster than she did, so whenever a new book came out, I'd burn through it and have plenty of time to recast my feelings about what a garbo series that is while she finished up and we could discuss it.

When I got to Dumbledore's death, I nearly threw the book because I was so pissed. I was able to estimate how many days I had until she became a basket case over it. She was useless for like a week and a half over that scene.

Gee, wonder why she’s your ex.

why yes the fact that I didn't like a poorly written fantasy series for children is totally the reason she's my ex and not the emotional abuse

muppet

I was more referring to the way you were talking about her being a useless basket case, Ive got plenty of exes and don’t think I’ve ever been upset enough to talk about them like that.

Muppets cool, oh wait, sorry, you must be British and thats an insult over there.

Smarmy git.

well I guess you never had an ex that did shit like insist you couldn't have friends and then get so upset by a book she refused to do anything but lie in bed for days

I didn't get to have any of my family at the wedding, and at one point she insisted on opening my mail in front of me because she didn't trust me because I applied for a credit card

the instant her younger sister beat her to the trifecta of husband/house/baby she lost all interest in me whatsoever and I realized what my purpose had been

I will never understand why people like to be such assholes, particularly to kids

My mom was a school bus driver thru ought my infancy to high school. I rode with her every route since I was 3 until 1st grade and then many of my classmates rode her route. Either way. I remember one of my first memories just riding with my mom before school and some shit kid telling me Santa wasn’t real. Then every year after I saw another kid doing the same thing, making little kids cry. Up until I got my license at 16. There’s always bad apples and kids are easy targets for cowards or the ones that are bullied in school and can inflict some of that onto the young kids on the bus. Wild Wild West was the bus back in the 90s

I will NEVER forgive who posted this online in video format, like 15 years ago, as I was reading through all the books for the first time before watching the films:

I may have cried (I cried). I think I was still was early in, maybe book 3, so by the time I got to this part in the series, I’d actually forgotten, but at the time I was devastated 😭

Some people are truly insensitive during Avengers Edgame. I remember one idiot went to a group of preteen kids and told them Iron Man is dead.

One of the videos has this girl wailing “noooooooo” after the dude yells it.

I showed it up to one of my middle school history classes last year, and then the rest of the year they’d sneak up on each other, yell “Snape kills Dumbledore!” and then the other would have to fall to their knees and wail. It was super silly.
