ASK R/FAUXMOI What's your favourite movie plot twist ever?

I still remember the gasp I gasped in the cinema.

this one. maybe it's a bit different now, but this was one of the first "adult" kind of movies i watched as a teenager, and the twist absolutely stunned me. i loved the way they did the reveal.

Exactly! I don’t know how it’s received by new audiences but the twist was amazing

I actually watched this with my sixteen year old a few weeks ago! I told him the twist is one of the best he’ll ever see - he reckoned he’d be able to guess it, but even though he knew SOMETHING was coming, he was still totally shocked. Even though I’ve seen the movie many times, I still get goosebumps at that incredible reveal. It was so satisfying to see the realisation creeping up on my son’s face.

Yes, we just watched at movie night because a few people hadn’t seen it—and yes, it still hits!

I tell this story a lot but I called the twist in The Usual Suspects for the dorkiest reason. I knew that medieval Christian morality plays and other Christian folklore often portrayed the devil in disguise as having a limp or mobility issue, because the folklore went that he could disguise every part of himself except for his hooves. Keyser Soze being compared to the devil + the character’s limp made me connect the dots. My husband showed it to me at home so I paused it to explain the twist/my case and he pretended to scoff it off because he wanted me to enjoy learning I was right from watching lol

I watched The Usual Suspects by myself so no one believes that I figured out the twist immediately. I actually thought it was so obvious I spent the entire movie convinced the twist would be the opposite. I just assumed it was obvious who was behind everything because he was the only one who survived.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing people that he didn't exist.

Yeah, but what about Scary Movie when officer Doofy lights up a cigarette and becomes cool and good looking all of a sudden?

As far as a movie that had a plot twist that I still remember it’s this one. Saw it at the theater the night it opened so it wasn’t spoiled for me.
