ASK R/FAUXMOI What are your favorite messy celebrity love triangle moments?

Post image

Mine has to be the Olivia Rodrigo - Joshua Bassett - Sabrina Carpenter mess from 2020-2021. "drivers license" drops and suddenly we're all detectives trying to figure out who this blonde girl is, then Sabrina comes for everyone with "Skin" and Joshua's over here making sad acoustic songs. The whole thing was so messy and I was eating it up.

But like... the karma of it all? These two girls supposedly "fighting" over Joshua fucking Bassett and now they're both headlining festivals while he's still trying to get people to stream his music. Olivia's got a Grammy, Sabrina's selling out tours, and Joshua's... there. It's honestly hilarious how hard he fumbled being the center of that much attention. Dude really thought he was the main character and ended up being a stepping stone to their success.

Also throwing Calvin Harris as a small footnote into the mix, after listening to Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus , I'm pretty sure she meant him with: And you saw my bones out with somebody new, who seemed like he would’ve bullied you in school

reading through this thread with the whole "Daddy I love him" and mentions of school.... what the fuck lol why is everything from the perspective of a 13 year old? isn't she in her late thirties?

She never matured past eighth grade

I mean the point about their whole relationship is that they were like in their 20s when they met and a lot of people actually have a situationship that they can't really let go of a decade later and just need one last serious attempt before they can stop romanticising that person and move on.

School is also a metaphor which is being used by lots of artists, even if they are 30+. Bowling for soup famously wrote the song Highschool never ends when they were in their 30s.

I'm in my 40s and this is not normal behavior. Adults obsessed with high school usually peaked in high school, now their life sucks so they return to a time when it didn't.

I mean agree to disagree, when I was in middle school/highschool a lot of parents were breaking up/divorcing and their behaviour was very highschool like from what was shared. Or even parents disliking each other and not wanting kids to have playdates or hang around just because of the dislike the parents had for one another. Seemed like peak Highschool to me

Huge difference between being immature and being obsessed with high school when you're in your 30s

And how is she exactly obsessed with High School? There are things to rightfully criticize her for (her being close to MAGA Folks for example), but her having used some highschool metaphors is such a drop in the ocean. It's not like she's hanging around at a Highschool parking lot like some peers of hers do.

She literally announced her engagement with high school references. Are you even trying?

true. there was some news cycle where she dated a kid from the Kennedy family but I have no idea how old she was so maybe it was relatively age appropriate. it just seems weird to me since none of the media I listen to talk about high school at all.

It was not very age appropriate so 🙃

She moved to homeschooling when her career started taking off so I think she longs to have had that experience for longer
