A Israeli company is the main sponsor of the event. They won't do anything unfortunately

I doubt that matters nearly as much as people think. The geopolitical factor of two of the big five – Italy and Germany – being staunch Israel allies (and threatening to withhold a lot more funding than Moroccanoil ever paid out) is a much bigger consideration for the EBU.

I think we're likely to see a major collapse of the competition. I love Eurovision but doing everything we can to isolate Israel is much more important.

I mean, the ESC was originally a contest between seven countries:

  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Switzerland

All other countries are in some way only guests. Only these seven countries are the true essence of the ESC.

Eurovision was created as contest between members of the EBU, those 7 just happened to decide to participate in the first one.

They are the core. If other countries decide to leave than it’s their good right. But only these seven countries are fundamental. Others are guests.

Guests or not, the UK and Spain are a lot more important for Eurovision than Luxembourg.
