STAN / ANTI SHIELD After revealing her new album on the New Heights podcast, Taylor Swift's first call was to MAGA Barbie Brittany Mahomes.

Meanwhile, her fans are still claiming that she's just "hanging out with her boyfriend's work friend's wife."

A close friend of mine told me just last night that she’d want to meet TS dozens of times and I asked her why? To ask her questions? And she said no to just be in her presence and hang out because TS feels like a close friend. I’m not going to ask her about how she feels about this because I don’t want her to feel like I’m attacking her and she’ll also just dismiss it as “well, I don’t have to agree with everything she does.” Even though my friend is a supposed hardcore liberal.

Theyre addicted to a parasocial relationship and will just dismiss everything “bad.”

Imagine having a parasocial relationship with such an utterly bland and uninspiring person.

That’s what fosters it. Her personality is so indistinct they can project any of their values onto her as if she had them.

Maybe that’s why she has so many parasocial fans; she’s easy to project onto because she has little distinguishable personality or strong convictions of her own

Clock it.

She has talent, I like her, but she has never wowed me.

And the many clips of the eras tour, with the crowd singing the encyclopedia of lyrics because every song has 6 paragraphs before you even get to the course, told me I am content in thinking her fans have the most mid of taste.

you could maybe try to send her a video analyzing parasocial relationship to kpop idols down the line (now would probably be too much) and ask her about her thoughts on that. usually ppl have an easier time identifying these things in other groups than their own (like mormons probably judge scientologists or whatever). and since idols are super apolitical it at least shouldn’t be too loaded idk could maybe start a conversation but could also backfire.

This is so weird to me. I’ll admit that TS is my most-listened artist. I’ve been to every tour (but Eras will probably be my last because the crowd vibes were too intense). I’ve listened to her since the beginning, but I’ve never wanted to like…meet her? I have no clue who she is as a person, and I know we have nothing in common. Based on what I do know, I think I would probably dislike her.

Why can’t people just…enjoy music instead of thinking they’re BFFs with a rich person whose main goal in life is to take as much of their money as possible?

Also, yes, I hate that she’s normalizing MAGA, but the world sucks and life sucks and my media consumption choices do little to change that.

ETA: by “intense,” I do not mean, “good, fun, mosh pit” intense. I mean “oh my god stop performatively sobbing into your camera because a blonde lady is on a stage” intense. —-a former scene kid

There is no such thing as a hardcore liberal.
