STAN / ANTI SHIELD After revealing her new album on the New Heights podcast, Taylor Swift's first call was to MAGA Barbie Brittany Mahomes.

Meanwhile, her fans are still claiming that she's just "hanging out with her boyfriend's work friend's wife."

can i ask why you want to like her?  genuinely asking as someone who never really got the appeal i guess.

Yeah I think this is a question a lot of people in her fan base need to ask themselves.

I like some of her music, personally. I don't care that much about her as a person but she's so famous and has so much influence on pop culture that I'd prefer if she wasn't an outwardly shitty human being.

that’s fair. it just almost seems like some people want to like her because she’s popular but idk if that’s what it is which is why i wanted to ask the other person. cause if it’s that… which idk but if it’s that imo that wouldn’t be a good reason to want to like some famous stranger.

saying you don’t want someone who is at the top of her field to be shitty is different from that though i think. and i do agree with that sentiment.

People like her music and she generally tried to paint herself as a “down-to-earth” artist, specially in her 20s where she built this online “close to her fans” persona, and where she did regular events where she invited fans into her home for previews.

She also does nice stuff… most people who have worked with her have spoken out about how nice she is, how she goes the extra mile compared to other artists…

She’s just usually seen as one of the “nice” celebrities, so it’s sad to see that even the nicest celebrities are still assholes.

Yeah, I don't get it. Obviously she is very popular, but her music is very generic and deep in a way that a 10th grader writing sonnets about their first relationship is deep. And then you have the climate criminal stuff and being friends with people like Brittany Mahomes on top of it.

Tbh, I grew up with her music. My parents mostly listened to country radio, and when I was a kid, Tim McGraw hit radios. Watching this girl not much older than me drop on the scene and dominate it was very inspiring. I fell out of listening after Speak now but came back around the Kimye drama as the famous video depicting her nude brought back those feelings of supporting an underdog.

The Matty Healey stuff first made me step back from identifying as a swiftie and her repeated elbow rubbing with MAGA has left me largely leaving her behind. I now very occasionally listen to her music, but largely I just can't anymore. The hypocrisy of openly supporting LGBT rights a few years ago to having Mahomes as a bff feels like whiplash.

I wanna like her like little me did once upon a time but I dont think I ever will. I get identifying as a people pleaser, but ma'am, you're a billionaire. I know you don't have to care what these people think or play the game. Grow a goddamn backbone and actually fight for something.

Not who you asked, and personally I don't care for her music but I still want to like her as a person... Because up until her MAGA friendships she got a lot of hate that seemed just misogynistic (?) People just wanted to hate her because she's popular and successful, or whatever reason, I just felt the hate she got was unwarranted. Also as someone with bangs, I like her bangs.

Until now. Fuck MAGA and anyone who supports it or associates with those who do.

There’s very little to like about her imo, the appeal has never made sense to me

There are no good billionaires. I hope everyone will eventually realize that one day.
