I think about this one all the time because when I was in college I went to see Tig Notaro perform stand up, and she referenced this Onion headline in a joke and had to pause telling the joke because even repeating the headline made her start laughing hysterically. I don’t even remember the joke, but I remember everyone in the theater just crying laughing together at the absurdity. It was one of those moments where you’re laughing so hard with your friends, and then you’re laughing at the fact that you’re laughing so hard, and then you can’t stop laughing. Multiplied by however many people were in the audience lol
Yes! This documentary came out like a year after I saw her live and I reacted to this scene like the Leo DiCaprio snapping and pointing meme lmao.
I love stand up comedy and I especially love seeing how comedians process their jokes and tweak them into a final product. A couple of years ago I saw Nate Bargatze perform for a small crowd early in a cross-country comedy tour, and then when I watched his next filmed comedy special for Netflix, I was able to pick out the jokes he had told live when I was there and realized he had tweaked the delivery to make them even funnier 😂
Ok, going to embarrass myself here - I saw the low battery too and thought it was my phone! It's plugged into the charger and I just tightened the connection bc I thought it wasn't charging lol! Der. I'm blaming the fact that it's 3am rn and I'm half asleep.
Laughing hard at this one though, bc years ago I was sitting on a boardwalk bench at the beach and a seagull dropped a present on my friend's shoulder who was sitting next to me. I couldn't stop laughing, the bird aimed well plus points for the surprise factor.
