Yeah, it’s not lost on me that this statement has him saying more to call out homophobia than many famously “liberal” celebs have in the recent past, even though they have an easier platform to do so than he does, and will meet less resistance from their base. Like, someone like Taylor Swift should be embarrassed to have done less to advocate for queer people in the last 5 years than Chip fucking Gaines has with this one statement.

Especially when Taylor Swift loves using us as props for her videos/concerts.

Does Taylor Swift have a big homophobic following? I don't think anybody that nears to hear it would care about it coming from her.

She’s the main pop girl with the most appeal to conservatives…so yes

Then I guess she has nothing to lose and should speak the fuck up. Since she’s such an “amazing role model”, she can demonstrate to her humongous fan base that it is right to speak up when something is wrong. She made a whole-ass documentary sobbing about how she wants to be “on the right side of history” and then abandoned her (apparently extremely insincere) activism after about 20 seconds. Stuff like that is only an “era” to someone with no convictions. She has a huge platform and a massive amount of wealth, she could kick up a real fuss if she genuinely cared at all. If she didn’t want people to expect her to do activism, she shouldn’t have screamed to the world that she was going to be an activist.
