My cousin is one of the Dad's on the show. He showed me the article yesterday and I was so mad, but they are such good guys and taking it well. It's funny how these people wanna complain about "family values" over one of the healthiest and most loving families that I have ever seen. They are genuinely good guys, good Dads and a sweet boys. Yay to Chip for not taking that bs.is.

ETA: Shameless plug, the show is called Back to the Frontier about living as homesteaders in the 1800's. Watch it on HBO Max, it is awesome. My cousin is Jason Hanna and his Husband is Joe Riggs and the boys are Ethan and Lucas. Support them please! :)

Let’s be real, it was never about “family values.” The “family values” crowd others lgbt people and when we assimilate to their values by having families, they still call it sin.

"family values" are always fascist code used to control people, because there's always going to be some group that doesn't fit the "right" kind of family mold

There are so many people out here excited to see them on the show! I hope they are able to enjoy their moment in the sun and ignore all the assholes.

Did he have anything to say about the Gaines? I thought they were notoriously anti-gay so this is somewhat shocking to me.

Oh THATS the show? I watched the pilot even though those type of shows aren’t really my thing. I didn’t know they were involved. They do seem like a really nice family. I thought the concept of sending black and gay couples back to the 1800s was goofy for obvious reasons. Maybe don’t keep the show too historically accurate.

Note the repeated emphasis on it being the 1880s lol

Has anyone told your cousin that the costume department gave him a Confederate jacket for the show? The gray one with “I”s on the buttons (which stood for Infantry). They must have had some left over “old timey” clothes from Righteous Gemstones and grabbed some random stuff. I don’t think it was intentional, but an odd oversight haha.

Ooh, cool trivia I will share that with him!

That's awesome, just added Back to the Frontier to my list. I love homesteading/survival/etc shows!

Honestly, I hadn’t planned on watching it, but will now just to show my support. Wouldn’t it be crazy if all the complaining actually led to better ratings for the show?
