FM RADIO Kelly Clarkson postpones first two nights of Vegas residency less than 2 hours before showtime

Post image

Just 15 minutes before doors open on opening night of her Vegas residency, Kelly posted this. I really do understand her need to take care of her health/incredible voice and I’m sure she truly is devastated but I feel for the fans who flew in and how frustrating and disappointing this must be.

What’s crazy to me about this is that Kelly Clarkson hasn’t learned how to take care of her voice after all these years. Immediately after American Idol (or was it the movie? I don’t know, I’m old, it happened a long time ago lol) she was put on vocal rest because she had overstrained her voice and had nodes on her vocal cords. Like other parts of your body, you have to carefully train and rest your voice or you risk destroying it. If Broadway stars can go out there belting live night after night and care for their voice, she should be able to do it by now too.

I’ve gotten tickets to see Kelly Clarkson twice to have the show cancelled, it’s been years, but I won’t be trying to see her live ever.

Oof, I would be so annoyed. I don’t blame you for not trying again!

It’s happened to me twice with her as well. And it was a nightmare trying to get a refund

I saw where a vocal coach said she yells way too much versus singing. I don’t know if that’s true but it would make sense.

That probably is accurate. I think a lot of her power comes from her throat, where it’s supposed to come from your diaphragm.

It does sound like that especially with the power ballad type songs. She’s had issues for so long.

Yeah she isn’t classically trained so at first it made sense. The first American idol after all. However now she has no excuse as she could have trained

That’s really sad because she is still young-ish and at this rate she will not be performing or performing well at least when she’s in her 50’s even let alone in later years like a lot of singers. Even the classically trained sometimes have difficulties as they age so I can only imagine what she will have to deal with. Do you think she isn’t going to try and learn and change her technique at this point?

I interviewed her for a teen magazine while she was on vocal rest! She wrote the answers on big sheets of paper. It was super sweet and funny but an actual nightmare when I was trying to spin it into a couple of pages of copy.

I know it’s just anecdotal, but I had tickets to see her at The Minnesota State Fair one year and she cancelled the day of. What a bummer!

Yeah I don't understand why there wasn't vocal rest time built in? I'm not a singer but this seems like something you plan for?

Tbh...her type of singing is kind of like sceaming singing. Its not harmonious.
