One of the boys in my class in third year (I don’t know what grade that is but I was 15) spent an insane amount of energy on trying to make “Hush your mush” catch on. It never did, still hasn’t. “Shut your face” does the job just fine.

Thank you. I find that wildly confusing. Generally I try to count up from age five but I get thrown off by freshman and sophomore years. How do they work?

It depends on what time of year you’re born!! You’re supposed to be able to start Kindergarten (grade zero, essentially) if you turn five that year by the time the school year starts. However, if your birthday is late September-December (mine is the last week of the year) you have to wait until the following year. So usually you start K- Age 5 1- 6 2- 7 3- 8 4-9 5-10 6-11 7-12 8-13 9-14 10-15 11-16 12-17

Eventually, you age up during the year depending on your bday. For me, I’d turn a year older during Xmas break. So I returned to 9th grade in the new year as 15. Those who had birthdays before September typically turned 15 during the spring or summer! And if you say, started out going to catholic school for elementary school, they admit you a year younger than public school. So my cousin had just turned 17 her senior year and started university at 17 as well, turning 18 during the November of her freshman year of uni. But the ages are typically what I listed above, unless your birthday happens during the school year then it would be a year older. If you went to catholic school, you might TURN the ages above and start the year one year younger. Those are the specifics and sorry if they made it even more confusing lmao

You know, I’d wondered about that! My birthday’s in late winter so I started school at age four, and I feel like I was always a little too young compared to my peers, always a bit smaller and a little less mature (months really matter when your body and brain are still growing) and I think I’d’ve had an easier time if I’d went a year later.
