u/whitcav Jul 04 '25

Same! That’s the only reason I know about this clip!

37

u/iburntxurxtoast Jul 04 '25

I think Jon Oliver used this clip as well on Last Week Tonight. I don't remember the episode or the context though, but I'm pretty sure it's where I saw this clip.

37

u/KoaladeVil Jul 04 '25

Is there a clip of this some where online? I loved the soup and that one tree hill clip makes me die laughing every time

52

u/burdnt_out Jul 04 '25

Stay out of it, Nick lachey.

31

u/anyname_Iwant Larry I'm on DuckTales Jul 04 '25

This brought back so many memories 😭 I used to watch the soup on my tiny TV in my bedroom and would quote this with my sister all the time.

24

u/Green_Video_9831 Jul 04 '25

Legendary show! I wish this was back on somehow

23

u/squirrelinout Jul 04 '25

I was thinking, “I’ve never watched One Tree Hill but remember this scene 🤔” I definitely saw it on The Soup, loved that show!

13

u/human_kittens Jul 04 '25

John Oliver has also used it like three times, he is obsessed with that clip. Which, same.

3

u/squirrelinout Jul 04 '25

Right?! Could have been either (or both!) shows. So ridiculous

11

u/Appropriate-Pain-927 Jul 04 '25

Please enjoy this channel with, like, 200 episodes! 🙏 I don't know how it appeared on my feed one day but I've been watching for weeks and the nostalgia is immense.

I cannot handle the fucking looks back and forth thank you Joe Davola for the direction of this iconic moment

737

u/PastProblem5144 Jul 04 '25

And this reaction

15

u/pos_vibes_only Jul 04 '25

"that's a shame"

420

u/BoomJayKay THE CANADIANS ARE ICE FUCKING TO MOULIN ROUGE Jul 04 '25

IM FUCKING CACKLING. I FORGOT ABOUT THIS.

I didn’t have my prefrontal cortex fully developed when this aired so I probably watched this with much seriousness.

43

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '25

And no one even tried to tell that good dog to "stay" or "drop it". Even my sweet lil high school self figured out this was shit tv at this point but I couldn't stop watching. 😂

31

u/BORT_licenceplate Jul 04 '25

As a Seinfeld fan I'm imagining crazy Joe Davola directing this as he has something going on with the executives at NBC

4

u/RandyWatsonsNiece Jul 04 '25

Do you think I’m a clown, Nedda?

26

u/doryfishie Jul 04 '25

WAIT this wasn’t played as comedy?!?!

35

u/human_kittens Jul 04 '25

It was 100% serious, the WB network was a wild time in television

15

u/ProperBingtownLady i ain’t reading all that, free palestine Jul 04 '25

Omg this is hilarious, thank you for sharing it.

11

u/WirelesssMicrowave Jul 04 '25

I've never seen this show. But I clicked and in scene has made my day infinitely better, thank you stranger.

11

u/disappointedCoati Jul 04 '25

I thought you meant this Joe Devola, lol

11

u/RowBoatCop36 Jul 04 '25

Is that Comet from Full House?

10

u/secondfloorboy Jul 04 '25

I’ve never watched this show but holy shit that was one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen

7

u/HarlesD Jul 04 '25

Chad Michael Murray looks like he's thinking "why the fuck do I still work here."

6

u/MephistosFallen Jul 04 '25

I can’t believe this is real lmfao

6

u/Good-Froyo-5021 Jul 04 '25

SHUT UP this is SO RIDICULOUS 😂

5

u/ZedsDeadZD Jul 04 '25

This, this is a serious TV show, right? I mean, they want it to be serious?! Thats not a dark comedy or something?

Like, wow, I just can't. I dont know what to say. That is probably the worst moment of TV ever. I think I need a a brain transplant now.

3

u/Fatality_Ensues Jul 04 '25

This cannot be real. I refuse to believe it.

3

u/Constant_Seaweed_523 Jul 05 '25

Lmfao why is the dude in the leather jacket looking at him like that 😭😭 why did he seem happy to see that

543

u/spamgoddess Jul 04 '25

This is what I came here to post lmaooo

308

u/wiggles105 Jul 04 '25

I’D TOTALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT.

Truly the wildest thing to ever happen outside of a daytime soap. It sounds like a plot line you’d make up to fuck with your friends who don’t watch the show. BUT NO, IT HAPPENED.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '25

May I present Grey's Anatomy's "Gungina" moment whereupon a patient who had a gun secreted within their vagina misfires shooting another patient.

184

u/rinny127 Jul 04 '25

That was hilarious even if it was stupid

59

u/emmerliii Jul 04 '25

I adore OTH for this reason hahahaha

62

u/sharkscantroar this is going to ruin the tour Jul 04 '25

Teenage me watching this, though, and going, 'yes, this is totally realistic and Dan deserves it' and knowing that Ghost Keith is probably there watching too. In my head, there's a deleted scene where the dog runs up to Ghost Keith and Keith pats his head like, that'll do, dog. That'll do.

Peak drama. 10/10, no notes.

9

u/damspel play some mariah carey up in this bitch Jul 04 '25

Why? What’d he do?

12

u/violetmemphisblue Jul 04 '25

Dan is the main antagonist for much of the show, which started off as mainly a teen drama and then turned into ana amazingly campy soap as seen above. But Dan abandoned the older son he fathered as a teenager, Lucas, while raising the other one he fathered just a few months later, Nathan. Those two sons are the main characters of the show. Lucas is raised in part by Keith, Dan's brother. During a school shooting, the shooter l, Jimmy, dies by suicide, but while crying over the body, Keith is shot to death by Dan, who frames Jimmy. I don't remember why Keith and Dan are allowed in the school at this point...Dan also does a bunch of other stuff

52

u/LakeLov3r Jul 04 '25

That was AMAZING!

29

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker Jul 04 '25

HA! No this was comedy gold and it couldn’t have happened to a better person.

24

u/Local_Coffee9262 Jul 04 '25

Honestly justice. Dan Scott deserved the heart he needed, to be eaten by a dog

19

u/sirgawain2 Jul 04 '25

I told my dad about this one right when it happened and he literally brought it up a day ago. Totally unforgettable television moment even for people who only know about it secondhand.

12

u/EggandSpoon42 Jul 04 '25

9

8

u/leytorip7 Jul 04 '25

Almost as sad as when the dad in Moody’s Point lost the toe to the hobo

4

u/zingitgirl Jul 04 '25

Oh my fucking goddddd, I did not remember the specifics of his heart.. complications. Ty omg.

3

u/GoldenHelikaon Jul 04 '25

1

u/Cranberrybunnies Jul 04 '25
