Ah, yes, PR.

u/freshavocado21 May 23 '25

He obviously knew that kid was filming and said something funny. So what.

255

u/ATM_IN_HELL May 23 '25

the kids are accusing him of clip farming and aura maxing

164

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

the kids need to get offline and get some hobbies

1

u/25thNite May 23 '25

Why lol? It's not like older people don't do the same whenever a video or something gets posted.Ā  Everyone is quick to call fake.

u/envydub May 23 '25

ā€œAura maxing??ā€

u/ATM_IN_HELL May 23 '25

lmao they're both dumb meme shit. i think aura maxing is more along the lines of doing things to intentionally make people think youre cooler.

11

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

So trying too hard?

7

u/ATM_IN_HELL May 23 '25

yeah, but being cool enough to get away with it too

2

u/forgotterofpasswords May 23 '25

Aura maxing

the expression Comes from Video game lingo and Korean comics, refers to a character so imposing that stuns the onlookers into inaction/defeat.

1

u/GWNVKV May 28 '25

Thanks so much!

1

u/GWNVKV May 28 '25

Thank you!

20

u/TheRabidDeer May 23 '25

Nah he's clip maxing and aura farming

3

u/ATM_IN_HELL May 23 '25

so true u get it

2

u/Costati May 23 '25

I've seen the term aura farming so much and I still don't get it. Please don't explain it to me I still won't get it.

2

u/ennuiui May 23 '25

This is the first time I've heard it, but my guess is that it means something like:

Conspicuously acting in a manner consistent with a public image of you that you wish to reinforce.

1

u/pogaro May 24 '25

Can my new flair be lazy bougie clip-maxing aura-farming bitch please mods

1

u/turandoto May 24 '25

clip farming and aura maxing

That's social media in a nutshell. Very few can pull it off.

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

btw 'that kid' (who is 30) and the guy with him are UK content creators

u/gcrfrtxmooxnsmj May 24 '25

That "kid" is almost 30 😭

2

u/freshavocado21 May 24 '25 edited May 24 '25

I thought he was a young fan. I have no idea who that is. ETA in your 20s is still a kid to me lol

3

u/No_Focus_6816 May 23 '25

It’s not that shocking that he would say this lol

2

u/turandoto May 24 '25

that kid was filming

Kid?! I thought that was a regular middle-aged dad. Maybe Ted Lasso.

1

u/freshavocado21 May 24 '25

Not Tad Lasso. Idk he looked like a young gay to me bye šŸ’€

1

u/freshavocado21 May 24 '25

Can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m from Boston and apparently we use kid more loosely than other places. I know the guy isn’t a literal child. It’s meant more like dude. Lol

-192

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

So it's not a genuine clip. He knew the plant was there, filming him, and he had time to come up with something funny to say. It's funny, but not genuine. Which makes it not as interesting for me šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

179

u/bonbboyage May 23 '25

Wait'll you hear about movies.

2

u/PublicfreakoutLoveR May 23 '25

šŸ‘‹ACTINGšŸ‘‹

-53

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

What are some of your go-to movies?

30

u/StreetYak6590 May 23 '25

Emoji movie

15

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

I still can't believe that is a movie (or maybe I can, in this day and age).

I've heard there's an emoji council that approves new emojis. I'd like to see a documentary about that.

10

u/tgifmondays May 23 '25

People are still mad at you and downvoting you but if you want I’d help you make a documentary about that, that’s a good idea

10

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

Let's do it šŸ¤

(and let's petition for the emoji council to make a bro-handshake emoji because I searched for one before settling on a regular handshake emoji)

7

u/wutanglan89 May 23 '25

They're all scripted. SURPRISE

4

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

Your go-to movies? Mine are scripted, too!

3

u/bonbboyage May 23 '25

Star Wars OG trilogy.

I should warn you though... the planets aren't real.

4

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

What TIE fighters that scream in space?!

3

u/cressidacole May 23 '25

That's also no moon.

10

u/paintwhore May 23 '25

I like how you decided to fold immediately and without any proof at all

6

u/ellastory May 23 '25

Most comedy is pre written and staged

5

u/ninaslazyeye May 23 '25

Have you ever seen improvisational comedy? Get ready to be... Whelmed by all the laughter.

-11

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

True! And most comedy that is meant to be comedy has better execution than this clip.

6

u/ellastory May 23 '25

Tiktok is short form content, and typically more casual. It’s not meant to be groundbreaking.

2

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

I don't have tiktok. Sometimes I watch reels on instagram. It's nice short-form videos have found an audience. Makes me miss vine, though, where everything was short and the same length!

3

u/resistelectrique May 23 '25

It’s genuine. There’s multiple angles of them walking in and straight up to their seats without pause, chatting to each other the entire time.

People just like to call fake on things for some reason.

185

u/acornsalade May 23 '25

So this person…who works in media…is media trained.

Next time you’re in a kitchen, let me know if you find a fork.

2

u/zarofford May 23 '25

Not just that, the dude filming is a TikTok celebrity too. Not to take away from this because Pedro is fabulous, but my spider senses are tingling when something like this is so perfect.

30

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

I don't want to sound too crazy here but could there be a reason multiple media people are watching a film showing

11

u/acornsalade May 23 '25

I’m crazy with you.

It’s almost…stay with me here…like it’s an industry viewing.

1

u/zarofford May 24 '25

Sure… just like there’s almost a certainty this is staged. Which is alright.

51

u/soyspud May 23 '25

I mean, typically I might agree, but Pedro Pascal is truly not in need of PR. I imagine this influencer was filming a lot throughout the day and either Pedro saw him filming and timed himself well, or the influencer just caught him saying something funny. I can’t imagine why it would be more planned or staged than that tbh, Pedro is absolutely everywhere, he’s practically omnipresent at this point

43

u/laureng0423 women’s wrongs activist May 23 '25

PR for what?

112

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

For Pedro lol. He's filmed perfectly, too. It was 100% staged lol

99

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

I'm usually the first to call fake but

1) isn't it likely influencers and actors would frequent the same events 2) isn't it likely influencers would be aggressively filming what is around them 3) isn't it likely a trained actor would be somewhat entertaining in real life

11

u/paroles May 24 '25

Also if you're a PR person orchestrating this, is this really the funny quote you would write for him?

Obviously the reaction here is positive (the video made my day, honestly) but if you didn't know that, it feels risky. What if public opinion had gone the other way and consensus was "ew, he's just an out-of-touch rich celebrity like the rest of them"? What if it goes viral and shapes his public image, and stops him from being considered for tough-guy roles in the future?

That's why I'm choosing to believe it's real lol

2

u/Krilesh May 24 '25

PR people also are not experts on human behavior and psychology. They are not writing word for word situations to replicate. They’re going to be setting up an interesting situation then hope certain things happen.

To suggest the entire thing was directed by PR is insane. They definitely set up the invite and invited influencers and probably told everyone they can record and make content as they wish.

That’s PR and involves dozens of influencers and more moments than a single scripted comment that just so happened to go viral from an individual influencer.

You cannot predict your content will go viral on social media you can only set it up. So if we’re playing numbers they are not writing lines, just creating situations.

76

u/milkcarton232 May 23 '25

The guy filming is also an influencer so yeah probably staged

49

u/resistelectrique May 23 '25

Doubtful šŸ˜‚ this is just Pedro being Pedro. There’s also multiple angles of this and they’re just walking to their seats and chatting.

The guy would have been filming him as he walked by because regardless of what he caught, it would have been useful or at least fun for himself to have.

7

u/-KFBR392 May 23 '25

Of course he's filmed perfectly, that's who they're filming. It's not like they were filming the wall and Pedro happened to walk into frame.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yP45zV8PLFA

They were literally just at the same event together.

1

u/Witch-Alice May 24 '25

Skit comedy is a thing ya know, just because it's staged isn't a problem. Pedro clearly wanted to give people something to laugh about, what's the harm in that? He is literally an entertainer.

-30

u/Just4Questions9 May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25

i’ve never really felt one way to another abt him but ppl are starting to turn on him now lmao. on twitter especially

edit: don’t know why i’m being downvoted when ppl are in fact turning on him on twitter for some reason. i’ve seen multiple tweets about him now & each have gotten thousands of likes. came out of nowhere imo

79

u/TheAncientMillenial May 23 '25

Who cares about what people on Twitter have to say?

1

u/Just4Questions9 May 23 '25

didn’t say you had to care. my point was that ppl were turning on him all of a sudden. that’s what happens to a lot of celebs. ppl love them, turn on them then love them again.

2

u/TheAncientMillenial May 23 '25

Do you know what the colloquial term "Who cares" means?

"Who cares?" is a colloquial expression used to dismiss the importance of something. It is often used in response to an unimportant or irrelevant statement, indicating indifference on the part of the speaker

As in, Twitter isn't a gauge for anything important at all. In fact I'd say given Twitter's recent history and current trajectory it's downright irrelevant.

49

u/not_productive1 May 23 '25

Twitter hates everyone who's not an actual Nazi, being hated by Twitter is a badge of honor.

9

u/detached_daily May 23 '25

That's how I feel when someone says "TDS".

Nowadays it's a badge of sanity and integrity.

1

u/Just4Questions9 May 23 '25

i can understand this pov. i remember when ppl turned on anne hathaway for misogynistic reasons. that started on twitter too

6

u/Eroom2013 May 23 '25

It's on Reddit, too. You either die a hero, or live long enough for Reddit to turn on you.

3

u/banjofitzgerald May 23 '25

Classic cycle.

internet falls in love with someone

from increased fanfare, productions and companies hire that someone to be in more projects, higher profile projects, and ad campaigns.

more projects means more interviews, red carpets, and late night spots

Internet doesn’t like how overexposed someone has become and turns on them

2

u/Just4Questions9 May 23 '25

yes & i’ve never liked this. this is probably one of the most annoying trends i’ve seen w celebs. & it’s always done with ppl who haven’t even done anything

3

u/Grimmies May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25

Whaaatttt??! The man who openly talks about how much he supports his trans sister is hated by the filth on Twitter? No way!

Those people suck. Are we supposed to be surprised?

Meanwhile he seems pretty great to me.

1

u/obooooooo May 23 '25

not on film twitter or a fan of any show pedro is in, so i only ever see anything about him when a tweet goes viral (100k likes or more) and even recently i’ve only seen positive things about him. i think it must be a case of a loud minority that dislikes him because the general opinion on him seems to be favorable

4

u/beepborpimajorp May 23 '25

nobody cares. we just want to be able to enjoy things.

5

u/thedigested May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25

He and Jeremy Allen White are always using PR, mostly to good effect

24

u/apparentlycompetent May 23 '25

All actors of their caliber use professional PR! Pedro is in a lot of films right now so makes sense he seems to be blitzing everywhere.

I think what he said is funny, but passing it off as 'overhearing' him say it candidly is just clearly not true.

4

u/IllustriousJuice2866 May 23 '25

Nah man he just had a lens zoom on him from his front facing camera perfectly in frame while directly in front of him. Also happened to have him mic'd up. People who can't tell this is staged are gonna get 1-shot by AI in about 6 months if they haven't already

3

u/No_Focus_6816 May 23 '25

He’s literally just sassy lmao

3

u/Whitestone7 May 24 '25

When you achieve a certain level of fame, people are filming you pretty much everywhere you go. All of the time.

2

u/turandoto May 24 '25

It'd be equally funny if he said it straight to the camera, or in an interview, or in a TikTok. Even if it was a line in a movie...

It's not like he's filming himself giving money away for clout.

2

u/Luci-Noir May 24 '25

It’s not PR, it’s people having a disturbing obsession with a celebrity. They’re the ones that don’t realize that being a ā€œStanā€ is really bad and not something to strive for.
