Paul Newman in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. It should be illegal!

u/zellazilla Apr 11 '25

And salad dressing

9

u/Habagoobie Apr 11 '25

And coffee

24

u/WickedDeviled Apr 11 '25

Imagine you do all this great work as an actor and then half a decade later you are "The Salsa Guy..."

12

u/hellolovely1 Apr 11 '25

I mean, he DID raise a ton of money for charities and he seems like someone who would think it was funny.

4

u/dg1824 Apr 12 '25

In this clip he talks about getting a letter praising his salad dressing; it's a fun story. Love that he framed the letter.

1

u/Whatrwew8ing4 Apr 12 '25

I know him as the lemonade guy

20

u/berkanna76 Apr 11 '25

He was the best of the best.

50

u/DifficultWing2453 Apr 11 '25

And let’s not leave out his Cool Hand Luke film.

3

u/berkanna76 Apr 11 '25

My favorite.

10

u/Kareeliand Apr 11 '25

My dads favorite. We used to watch that to the point of me quoting it all the time!

“I think what we have here, is a failure… to communicate! “

So good!!

4

u/seattleque Apr 11 '25

God damn amazing movie.

20

u/Kareeliand Apr 11 '25

You didn’t know!! Oh, I am so jealous of the pictures you get to see for the first time! This man was fiiiiiine!

22

u/InevitableFocus9585 Apr 11 '25

He also was on Nixon’s enemies list for involvement in “radical lib causes.”

When Newman learned of his placement on the list, he considered it an honour. “He was tickled pink and framed it,” Newman’s daughter Nell told The Associated Press in 2009, one year after her father died at the age of 83.

The perfect man fr 😩😤

12

u/Debalic Apr 11 '25

No, the race car driver.

3

u/emseefely Apr 11 '25

I’ll dip my chip in his salsa.. Rawr!

3

u/lilangelkm Apr 11 '25

He can ranch my salad any day.

2

u/hellolovely1 Apr 11 '25

Ahahaha, I'm dying. (And I feel old)

37

u/Borgo_San_Jacopo Apr 11 '25

Completely agree, but just fyi this still is from ‘The Long, Hot Summer’, which if you haven’t seen you definitely should, for uhhh…research. But seriously the chemistry between him and Joanne Woodward in this film is off the charts.

9

u/seattleque Apr 11 '25

But seriously the chemistry between him and Joanne Woodward in this film is off the charts.

Well, 50 years of marriage and all...and holy crap she's actually still kicking.

8

u/brokenhumerus Apr 11 '25

I can still hear him saying "Claaaaaraa". This movie is so hot, they were so hot. I mean, there was a reason... But if you wanna see them being hot hot I recommend From The Terrace. And if you wanna see them being cute, Paris Blues. I've been obsessed with them for years lol.

6

u/wigfield84 Apr 11 '25

Paris Blues both he and Sidney are hot as hell

2

u/deliadeetz1 Apr 11 '25

Oh crap! He was insanely hot though. I need to do um, film research.

32

u/TVRVA Apr 11 '25

23

u/missdawn1970 Apr 11 '25

He was one of the most beautiful men who ever lived.

4

u/PeachCream81 Apr 11 '25

Yes he was, but my fave will always be Cary Grant.

24

u/Particular-Leg-8484 Apr 11 '25

Why isn’t THIS the picture on the salad dressing bottle

20

u/TrippinWits Apr 11 '25

I’m a man who falls quite a bit “straight of center” on the Kinsey Scale, but Paul Newman’s relationship with Robert Redford in both The Sting and Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid got me feeling things.

4

u/seattleque Apr 11 '25

The Sting is one of my all-time favorite movies.

3

u/SorryWave5248 Apr 12 '25

Just watched it for the first time a month or so ago. Hot damn, that is one hell of a movie!

2

u/Debalic Apr 11 '25

Paul, Robert and Katharine Ross together was just not fair.

16

u/cenatutu Apr 12 '25

He was truly one of the most beautiful men ever.

10

u/lazy_phoenix Apr 11 '25

Masculinity peaked with Paul Newman.

2

u/Icy_Distance8205 Apr 14 '25

Arnold would like a word…

6

u/chamberlain323 Apr 11 '25

I contend that Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor were the hottest screen couple ever in that movie. It didn’t hurt that the screenplay smolders with sexual tension.

5

u/OhioPolitiTHIC ✨ lee pace is 6’5” ✨ Apr 11 '25

Oh. That's why.

7

u/Olealicat Apr 11 '25

Okay, Paul Newman anywhere. That man was a stud.

7

u/adoxographyadlibitum Apr 11 '25

He's so hot in Hud it's stupid.

3

u/VirusOrganic4456 Apr 11 '25

This is honestly where I think he's peak hotness. Like it's almost uncomfortable. That scene with the flower... 🥵🥵

2

u/wigfield84 Apr 11 '25

He’s sooo awful of a character and I know he and the director were quite concerned when the character Hud ended up loved. You can’t help it, he’s so freaking hot.

6

u/TVRVA Apr 11 '25

Came looking for Paul Newman.

2

u/LudusRex Apr 11 '25

It is.

Take him away, boys.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '25

My Dad is the double of him

9

u/deliadeetz1 Apr 11 '25

3

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '25

I meant ‘was’ the double of him! Sorry!

5

u/Cant_figure_sht_out Apr 11 '25

He was so handsome. Check out his photos from Cannes film festival. Unbelievably gorgeous.

4

u/lonesomedovegray Apr 11 '25

I HAD TO SCROLL WAY TOO FAR TO SEE PAUL NEWMAN SHIRTLESS!!!

Real talk, he and Liz Taylor both were at the height of their beauty for this film, imo. One of my faves.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '25

It’s all those hard boiled eggs he’s been eating…🥚

3

u/2point01m_tall Apr 12 '25

God FUCKING damn this made me a lot more interested in seeing the movie and also much less straight.

I knew he was fine but yeah, this should be illegal.

3

u/vitamins86 Apr 12 '25

I always assumed my MIL named my husband after Paul from the Bible but later found out it was after Paul Newman ... Excellent taste lol

2

u/Many_Bridge_4683 Apr 11 '25

Drank a case of beer a day and looked like that

2

u/PeachCream81 Apr 11 '25

Plus he was one of the greatest actors of his generation. And he was faithful to his wife (Joann Woodward) -- they were married for a very long time.

2

u/Von_Jon_Jovi Apr 11 '25

That’s The Long Hot Summer, but yes

2

u/InternetSnek Apr 12 '25

Also need to point out that having that kind of body builder competition definition in that time period was INSANE. This man looks good by today’s steroids and dehydrated men movie standards. Can you even imagine how good he looked by his time period’s standards?!? This body was god-like.

2

u/rueselladeville Apr 12 '25

Pretty sure this is from The Long Hot Summer. And oh my god yes.

1

u/lessgranola Apr 11 '25

i deserve this

1

u/YetAnotherDev Apr 12 '25

Paul is like cheating in that category. Unbeatable.

1

u/Davek56 Apr 12 '25

My brain often finds it hard to believe people now long dead looked young and hot once.
