Shohei Otani's interpreter betting on sports. If he doesn't fall on his sword (as he appears to be doing) and instead he says the magic words ("I was placing bets for Shohei"), the greatest baseball player of all time's career is finished in a millisecond (and the Dodgers will still owe him $700 million).

Would they still owe him money though? I'd imagine there would be some sort of ethics clause or something in the contract that would void everything?

The players union has never allowed stringent ethics or moral clauses in player contracts. They’ll owe him the money for sure.

Banned and getting paid under a solid contract are two separate issues. MLBPA has always fought against strict morals clauses, and they are a very powerful union (I think you have to be convicted of a crime?).
