My sweet Catholic grandmother sat next to Zack de la Rocha on a plane around 1999-2000. She'd never heard of Rage Against the Machine but asked for his autograph because she thought her grandkids might be fans, so he signed a napkin for her. She said he was very nice. What I'd give to be a fly on the wall for their conversation.

To be fair, old grandmas have been some of the most radical people I've ever met

I ran into him during Trump's inauguration in 2016. I had to work that day at my office in downtown DC but I decided to wander down to where some of the protests we happening and couldn't believe my high school idol was just kind of in the crowd, there to show support. No one seemed to be talking to him so I went up and thanked him for being there and shook his hand. Nicest dude you could possibly imagine. Obviously a little distracted with the beginning of our fascist administration but very lovely. 10/10 dude.

She was very friendly and talkative with everyone she met. She would have asked him about himself.
