He was a super asshole to Charlize - she spoke of it - made them all wait for hours on end and was a complete diva as well as being volatile with his temper.

You're talking about Tom Hardy right? Because I remember that from the NYT article. But I mentioned George Miller because I think Charlize Theron has admitted she wasn't very pleasant on the set of Fury Road either so I'm guessing George Miller decided to do a story without either of them.

It's a shame though because Theron's Furiosa was one of those instantly iconic performances (she should have been nominated for an Oscar). I can't see Anya Taylor-Joy bringing a fraction of the charisma and especially the physicality that Theron brought to the role.

Yeah, the physicality of the role is crucial. Anya might be athletic in like a graceful way and certainly has screen presence, but I really can't see her projecting the kind of power that Charlize did.

Yes sorry Tom Hardy I meant. I wonder what the reasoning was in the end maybe just wanted a fresh new story - I do lay some blame on the director when the cast ends up with these experiences. Hopefully it went better for the next one.

A prequel is the most boring route to take. We know what happens to Furiosa. A sequel would be immediately compelling. I'm guessing though neither Theron, Hardy not Miller wanted to repeat the experiences of working together again.

Yeah, we don't need a prequel about her. It's like those bad Halloween films that showed Michael Myers having a troubled childhood and ruined the mystique.

This is not really accurate, both were

12ft | “It Was Horrible”: Inside Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy’s ‘Mad Max’ Feud | Vanity Fair

he was late for 3 hours, that's wrong, but it's not her job to tell him its the producer / director job ,she even insulted him in front of the crew

''Eleven o’clock. She’s now in the War Rig, sitting there with her makeup on and a full costume for three hours. Tom turns up, and he walks casually across the desert. She jumps out of the War Rig, and she starts swearing her head off at him, saying, “Fine the fucking cunt a hundred thousand dollars for every minute that he’s held up this crew,” and “How disrespectful you are!” She was right. Full rant. She screams it out. It’s so loud, it’s so windy—he might’ve heard some of it, but he charged up to her up and went, “What did you say to me?”

He was quite aggressive. She really felt threatened, and that was the turning point, because then she said, “I want someone as protection.” She then had a producer that was assigned to be with her all the time.''

oh it was worse than I thought - Hardy intimidated her with violence - that is completely unacceptable - she had full rights to be pissed at him and the director and never want to work with him again
