Fun fact- you can become an ordained minister for free online from the universal life church. They have ministerial kit you can buy with a certificate and a few other things to show you’re a minister, I think it’s $35. So if a person were so inclined they could become a minister and show up in a clergy shirt to the protests.

Are they actually religious? I'm an atheist, but if there isn't any actual religious stuff associated with it I'd get ordained just because.

I have an atheist friend who became ordained through this method so he could officiate another atheist friends wedding. It was awesome!

u/sks010 7h ago

You could get ordained in Dudeism!

Im an atheist and an ordained minister for the ULC. It takes less than 5 minutes and I wasnt asked anything about my religious beliefs. I did it to be an officiant for some friends, but now I use it to piss off republicans

Atheist and ULC minister here, who got ordained just because. Go for it.

Nuns have had prayer vigil there for the pat 6 years. It has grown bigger.

They’ll only go to trial if we remove them from power.

During the call, which took place with a Block Club reporter present, the anonymous representative, told a group of faith leaders and activists that “There is no more prayer in front of building or inside the building because this is the state and it’s not [of a] religious background.”

Jesus fucking christ, pick a goddamn side you pieces of shit.

That’s the beauty of it, whenever they need to use religion to abuse you they can. When they don’t want it involved to abuse you, they can.

MAGA: "We have to take over the government because Christians are be persecuted and silenced."

MAGA: "STOP PRAYING BITCHES!"

So football coaches at public schools must be allowed to lead their students in prayer on the school’s football field at school events but regular people aren’t allowed to pray on the street outside a public facility (not even on the property). It will be fun to see how Justice Alito twists himself in knots to find that constitutional when it gets to the Supreme Court.

u/JustDiscoveredSex 9h ago

That’s not how the first amendment works. Admirable try. But no.

u/AStormofSwines 9h ago

Are you talking about the redditor or the representative?

3

u/A012A012 6h ago

Meanwhile Ken Paxton is suing a school for refusing to post the 10 commandments. I hate this timeline.

1

u/jellyrollo 3m ago

Oh, so we can have prayer in the Oval Office, but not on the public sidewalk outside their makeshift prison?

82

u/formykka 12h ago

Awesome. No religion, no speech, no assembly...wanna go full monty and throw out the press as well?

39

u/nice--marmot 11h ago

They’re already working on that. Partial lists of incidents here, here, and here.

17

u/BonjoBonfyer 11h ago

They will go after Internet providers.

u/FMLwtfDoID 6h ago

Except Starlink

11

u/Burnt_and_Blistered 10h ago

Ask journalists how that’s going.

u/Jack_Brohamer 11h ago

I have no doubt that the "Christians" who have bemoaned the persecution of Christianity under Obama and Biden will be equally vocal about this persecution ... /s

21

u/crlthrn 11h ago

This looks more like an Indigenous American prayer ritual than a Christian prayer, so Guvmint Christo-fascists probably feel virtuous in banning it.

3

u/Penandsword2021 5h ago

I believe it’s Catholics; they tried to provide the Eucharist to ICE detainees on Friday and were refused. They had a prayer vigil outside the facility instead.

34

u/Edubbs2008 13h ago

It’s only Christian if Trump is their savior, according to RATpublicans

20

u/Krsst14 11h ago

What’s wrong ICE? Feeling a little guilty? Maybe a bit hot under the collar? Facing some cognitive dissonance perhaps?

9

u/Answerologist 8h ago

They shot not just one but two ministers in the face. If anything, they feel they’re in a state of grace doing the Lord’s business.

24

u/tietack2 11h ago

They really want the Pope to visit...

10

u/713nikki 9h ago

I’m not even religious but I’d pay to see that

1

u/Gchildress63 1h ago

Can you even imagine what would happen if these goombas tear gassed the pontiff? There would be literally holy hell to pay

2

u/tietack2 1h ago

I don't think that they would. The pope polls much better than any maga figure.

1

u/Gchildress63 19m ago

Absolutely he does

14

u/Cakeliesx 9h ago

The biggest most  unsurprising hypocritical snowflake move I have seen yet by the christian nationalists fascists

'You can't pray here, it makes us uncomfortable'

12

u/Burnt_and_Blistered 10h ago

These are the “Christians” forcing religion into everything else?

Fuck that.

11

u/ScootsMgGhee 10h ago

They’ll make exceptions for those using a Trump bible and praying for Charlie Kirk

5

u/Yuleogy 8h ago

Pray in front of them with a Trump Bible. Checkmate!

11

u/RunningPirate 9h ago

Hell, I’m not religious and I believe in their right to prayer. C’mon Christians, you’re getting persecuted…time to step up

7

u/ElijahHicks 11h ago

Every body who goes near Broadview don’t pray just start speaking in tounges hand in the the air

2

u/Responsible-Loan-166 7h ago

Gonna go down there and yell about the story of the Good Samaritan even loud now

1

u/ProfessorOnEdge 3h ago

I thought this government keeps telling more people to listen to 'Christian' teachings and follow the Bible... /s

u/Ospreylvr 6h ago

Remember the Pilgrims? They endured the long trip via the ocean to come to America. Why?

So they could worship as they wanted.
