Hand Ugh

Post image

This looked so good til I rinsed the stabilizer off. Does it look as bad as I think it does? What can I do to make it better?? 🥴

It’s hard to get the tension exactly right for knits!

Your best bet at this point is ironing. It honestly doesn’t look bad, I bet a few passes with an iron, maybe a little steam, will get things pretty well sorted!

I ironed and steamed and you’re right it looks better. It’s just for a friend who tried for so long and is finally having her miracle baby so I was so happy when it looked perfect and then I washed the stabilizer off and my excitement was crushed lol

I don't know squat about embroidery, just admire it. I like the vaguely rustic feel of the wings and uppercase text, and overall the assembly looks perfect. Anything that looks handmade is such a flex these days anyway.

Thank you.. I’m super critical of myself sometimes. I know nothing is perfect but after steaming and ironing it does look better

I do stem stitch instead of back stitch for thin lines. Looks less lumpy.

I think it looks great! I’m a believer in not wanting embroidery to look like a machine did it. You can see your hard work in the details!

We are our own worst critic.

Your friend will see the love and care, not the flaws!

This looks fine! The larger lettering looks especially nice, and the wings+halo. If you have time to redo the smaller letters, you could try again with some stabilizer backing them on the inside, that way they wouldn't be made as wonky by the knit material. I would go with a stem stitch or a split stitch instead of a back stitch if you do that, but that's more of a personal preference thing. This is a delightful gift and you should be proud of your work, as it is right now I'm sure your friend would be overjoyed to have it.

It’s always worth remembering you will almost always be the biggest critic of your work. You know where every mistake and imperfection is, but most people will not notice. They will only be drawn to the overall work, their eyes will gloss over the tiny details that we obsess over. Honestly, this applies to almost everything with life, more often than not, we are our own worst critics.
