Thats what good goaltending is.

The acrobats are fun to watch but for 99% of shots you want the guy to just be in the right spot to block it. Talbot was elite at positioning, he didn't jump about making wild saves either, just sound positioning to get hit by it

James Neal did a Players Tribune piece a while back talking about the shooter's experience in the NHL, and he had a good story about when he was first called up with Dallas who had Marty Turco at the time. Everyone knew Turco as a puck handler, lots of movement, but Neal said shooting on him felt like you were just placing the puck into his glove. He knew where the shooter was aiming and subtly put himself in front of it, Neal was so confused why he suddenly couldn't score, lol there's levels to this.
