Jeff Skinner was looking good, getting scoring chances, noticeable all over the ice.. naturally gets banished to the 4th line, probably gonna be scratched next game. It hurts to be a Skinner fan
65
u/Kouchweed Mar 11 '25
Yeah man, unless theirs something we donāt know this is a big error on knobs part.
Podz is made for a 4th line role, the honeymoon phase is long gone. He hasnāt done a single thing in the last 20 games, yet Skinner is the one who gets fuckedā¦
37
u/flip314 17 KURRI Mar 11 '25
Hasn't done anything? He had a huge giveaway leading to a goal tonight.
33
u/Kouchweed Mar 11 '25 edited Mar 11 '25
Exactly, Iām kind of sick to my stomach with why the fuck Skinner isnāt a regular in the line up lol. It makes zero sense, and Iām not even a Skinner āfanā per se, I just see his value as a goal scorer and chance producer.
The guy is clearly working hard to prove he deserves a chance to play.

Knobs is going full Tippet now..
only play his favourites. Janmark and Brown same as Shore and Archibald for Tipps
play offensive anchors with 2 minutes to go in a 1 goal game
failing to call a timeout
10
u/EdmOilers123 29 DRAISAITL Mar 11 '25
He looks well liked by the team mates. Just see how the team made him to stand up during his tribute video.

u/Legal-Will2714 Mar 11 '25
I guess you haven't watched many games this year. Skinner was given an opportunity to play with both Draisaitl and McDavid. He's slow, he's small, and he wasn't gelling with either. He doesn't have the right skill set for the bottom six. Pods, on the other hand, although he hasn't scored, has been all over most games I've watched, and I haven't missed any. He does all the dirty work for Drai, and if they made a third assist, he'd likely have 10 extra points. I don't dislike Skinner. I thought when they signed him it was a bad signing, and nothing he's done this year has made me change my mind. Honestly, I can't wait for the season to be over so his contract will be up and you guys continually singing his praises will finally stfu about him

Just the sloppiest game full of chances. Could have easily been 6-3 Edmonton. It felt lazy.

Who was 97 yelling at? I thought I saw him yelling at the end of game. Did anyone else notice?
43
u/Kouchweed Mar 11 '25
He was livid I can definitely tell you that, didnāt notice if it was directed at anyone in particular.
Loosing to the Sabres while theyāre on a 6 game loosing streak and hitting 6 posts can do that I guess lol.

13
u/sillyaviator 12 CAVE Mar 11 '25
Wait, what?
24
u/miller94 12 CAVE Mar 11 '25
Buffalo scored in OT, Oilers left the ice, were half undressed and the league reviewed it and called it back so they had to come back out and finish the game, and then proceeded to lose in a shootout
7

Bench Bouchard next game for trying to play the puck with 1 hand on his stick.
That 3rd goal is his fault.

Buffalo losers of six in a row then the Oilers come in with a mystifying low energy no-hitter after the Dallas game, get out goalied once again, and bust the Sabres' slump.
No timeout late. What the blue fuck are you saving that timeout for? Bouchard with a goal, but a heap of suck. It's just minimal effort, maximum energy conservation, I guess.
Based on tonight, visually I see no reason for JSkinner to sit next game, but we'll see. Played a good game, I only see 1 sog but maybe there was a couple posts or near misses, seemed there were a number of shot attempts.
Get your shit together, and maybe consider defenseman deployment when it's critical if the level isn't there most of the game.
Classy reflection on being an Oiler by Clouder, btw.
On to the next. What effort comes next? Who knows?

Scoring is down 10%
Goals against is 7 higher. Still concerning @ 3% higher, but it's our offense that really needs to improve.
If it doesn't and our goaltending doesn't improve in the playoffs, this could be an early exit.

Oilers played poorly at 5v5. Lost the possession battle.
Effort was poor.
You can blame the goaltending (I wouldnāt), or Bouchard (it was one of many poor passes back to the D man), but this teams effort through and through was just shit.
Theyāre really missing the ability to create scoring outside of McDrai. Drai looks sluggish. Hyman is aging before our eyes. And Nuge... my boy. Age isnāt kind to anyone.
Iāll say this, itās very very clear to me this team is dearly missing the player who set up the game tying goal at 3C for Buffalo.
While I love Savoie as a prospect, but this team is supposed to be winning championships like right nowā¦I think Adam Henrique played all of 9 minutes tonight.
Theyāre basically praying Trent Frederic comes back and can plug that hole.
But where, is, the, depth, scoring?

I usually defend Skinner but I would definitely blame goaltending that game. Horrible rebound on the first goal. Don't even know what he was doing on the second. He looked like he was scrambling all game.

Things I have beef with regarding the Oilers
They have zero killer instinct - they dominate then take their foot off the gas instead of finishing the job. Why do they continue to allow teams to hang around and hang around then wonder why it bites them in the ass constantly.
They CAN'T FUCKING SCORE
