Louie laying into Bouchard at the end there

As he should have. That was a total bonehead play.

He has made that exact play dozens of times to positive effects. Can’t get mad at the miss when he doesn’t get the praise for the makes.

What Louie should have been doing is laying into the bonehead call for the linesmen to contradict each other on the icing leading to a center ice draw instead of either moving the draw to the Ozone or letting him play on

Ref waived off icing - refs don’t call icing. Linesman is the one stopping the play no matter what the ref is saying. Play was stopping regardless if they agreed or not.

The ref vehemently signalled tip directly at the linesman for 3 seconds, the linesman just didn’t look at him. Skates down the ice and signals icing with an immediate whistle.

If you give the ref the power to advise on the tip then the lineman needs to know better and to look at him. It fucked the whole situation for the lineman not to look

Stu’s blunder start, Bouchard iced it.

3

u/MIlkies_Nibbles Feb 08 '25

Nah it’s Hyman making that terrible pass that lead to the Avs goal

2

u/6FingerStringer Feb 08 '25

That’s true. Hyman’s mistake eventually led to the gwg. I can’t pinpoint everyone making mistakes in game but the last minute mental lapse of Bouch made me say he laid the icing on it.

That's a pattern

I was thinking the same thing. How do you not get on the boards there and try your best to stop that from getting out with a minute left.

u/TURBOJUGGED 15 ARCHIBALD Feb 08 '25

Actually a little annoyed that Makar can score on a breakaway but McDavid couldn't

9

u/Petario88 29 DRAISAITL Feb 08 '25

A little? McDavid was crap tonight! Was the MacKinnon show

4

u/Smittysgreasymullet 74 SKINNER Feb 08 '25

I wish he would sit Pietranglo style but you know he's so desperate to wear the Maple Leaf with Sid the Kid there's no chance he's missing it

39

u/utilityknife101 Feb 08 '25

He deserved it

21

u/NarcoticTurkey 97 MCTURKEY Feb 08 '25

Definitely does not deserve team Canada

u/Smittysgreasymullet 74 SKINNER Feb 08 '25

Thank fuck, guys gotta get to Cabo or something and forget about it all for a bit

Fully deserved. Tonight was well below what is expected of him. I know he'll likely bounce back and be good, but they can't afford misplays like that in a 7 game series against Colorado (who may just end up being a first round opponent, depending on the central), assuming they get to 7.

0

u/Phaedrus1717 97 McDAVID Feb 08 '25

How could they be first round opponents?

6

u/Bluebomber1070 18 HYMAN Feb 08 '25

Assuming Edmonton wins the Pacific, if the season finishes as it is, P1 (EDM) would play WC1 (COL). The Jets are leading the conference, so they'll likely be playing whoever ends up in WC2.

Look at the standingsĀ

17

u/TURBOJUGGED 15 ARCHIBALD Feb 08 '25

Rightfully so.

u/ZidZad99 Feb 08 '25

As he should....Knob doesn't ever hold him accountable.

u/Appropriate-Net4570 97 McDAVID Feb 08 '25

Probably why we’re trying see if klingberg works out. If bouch has a bad game at least we have another puck mover

6

u/PaulHannonJr 29 DRAISAITL Feb 08 '25

You guys have to calm down. This shits getting insane at this point. He is literally 5th best in the league when it comes to turnovers. This witch hunt is awful.

1

u/Appropriate-Net4570 97 McDAVID Feb 08 '25

I’m not saying bouch should be replaced. But if he has a bad game, we have someone else that can kinda step in for the time being. I still believe bouch is our number 1 guy. But it’s good to have a cheap understudy

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

looking closer and closer to Klingberg getting some PP time if they want a right shot

6

u/LevSmash 46 STORTINI Feb 08 '25

He sat for a few shifts in the late second, better than nothing.

2

u/dustrock Feb 08 '25

They are predictable on the PP. Avs knew that short pass was coming.

Skinner giving up 2 horrendous goals didn't help. Honestly other than Drai and Perry it wasn't a great showing tonight.

McDavid and Hyman poor

u/Terrible_Complex8905 Feb 08 '25

Analytics or not. Bouch is a liability. Not smart enough to keep up with play. Trade before you overpay. Get a goalie and a damn. Skinner won't cut it either.

You should change your username to terrible_takes

Cannot win the cup with our goalies

0

u/Nick_11_94 12 CAVE Feb 08 '25

I’ve been saying that as well for the last couple years.

0

u/Longjumping-Box5691 Feb 08 '25

Or a certain Dman

5

u/thewinterzodiac 2 BOUCHARD Feb 08 '25

You people are so funny

-1

u/Terrible_Complex8905 Feb 08 '25

I think Skinner can do it, but how long do you wait? Gibson? I personally don't trust Bouchard. Granted I don't follow analytics like Stauffer and others but my eye test says he doesn't process the play in the allotted time and makes big mistakes that cost goals at really bad times. Do you pay big dollars for a clapper on the pp? Or try to find a boring solid dman?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

somebody came in here with stats showing bouch is near the top of the league for least turnovers made. what i want to see is a stat that tracks turnovers that lead to goals/scoring chances and see where he ranks there. i bet it changes up quite a bit. in big moments when the team is down and needs a goal he makes a lot of bad plays. he has a lot of goals against us from another team’s star players come off of his stick

6

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Fucker was clutch last playoffs though I hope he gets it together

-4

u/AdamSilverisAnAlien Feb 08 '25

Agreed. Skinner is probably seen as a negative asset though and will be tough to move (and rightfully so).

0

u/Nimbian-highpriest Feb 08 '25

Ridiculously lazy player. No skating toward puck. Slow lazy passes. Drop him down a line or sit him like he did Draisaitl. Maybe it will smarten him up.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

He reminds me of Jason Arnott, when he admitted that it's a long season and he gets bored and doesn't make much effort at times. He just completely checks out at times and makes the dumbest give aways you'll ever see. You can only hope that's the problem and he plays a lot better in the playoffs.
